The first one is actually about the Monkey God, Sun Wukong, it's a popular story. Supposedly, he was birthed from a rock, and he became a powerful god and messed up so much stuff for the Jade Emperor that they had to punish him, but the Goddess of Mercy decided to make his punishment easier. He was trapped under a giant mountain with a seal on top, and when the seal was removed by a monk he was told to help on a pilgrimage, then he would be freed from the mountain!
The noises definitely sound weird to a western ear, but it's very reminiscent of children's cartoons in China. Overall I'd say that video is mostly misunderstood and taken out of context, but it is definitely funny to imagine how confused I'd be with no idea of what's happening lol

1:15 the first one is based off a super popular and well known Chinese folktale about the monkey king. He was trapped in a mountain after disrespecting the gods. He wasn’t allowed to eat or drink or move. So the theme park is probably based off the journey to the west. So it’s really not weird or unhinged at all. It’s actually pretty cute and wholesome.

I’m pretty sure The first video is a character from a show from China called journey to the west. Idr why they do that but it’s in an amusement park, I think you give him offerings and make a wish type of thing for luck.
there have been many adaptations to the story but it originally comes from a novel of the same name written by Wu Cheng’en in the late 1500s.
the character is called Sun Wukong (usually referred to as just Wukong) and buddha imprisoned him under a mountain, which is why he’s “trapped” in the rocks in this video. he’s known for his insatiable appetite as he went to heaven and ate all the peaches of immortality. i don’t believe feeding him brings good luck, but that’s probably what they tell foreigners to make them buy bananas from the amusement park lol
