I just love the voice of Sondra R. It is so tender..so full of emotion..so heavenly beautiful. I watch and listen over and over again...and the way the conductor leads and assists..this is a once off phenomenal performance.
The power behind Sondra's voice is only accentuated by the plush softness during her sudden pianissimos near the beginning of the melodic phrase. I love it.
I heard her in the Canadian production of "Norma" in Toronto last year. I continue to love the experienced intimacy she gives to this aria as a universal plea for peace, knowing that her plea is also driven by her love of Pollione, a Roman. I will never, ever forget that performance. I wept at just the serene possibility and hope for peace throughout the world, and in my own country torn by so much division.
She is one of the best among the greatest sopranos of the XX and what goes of XXI centuries. I have already seen her in Norma at the Met and will repeat October 2017 because she GIVES a magnificent interpretation ....and that is what counts.......besides her beautiful voice and command of the character.
Sondra is so incredibly brilliant in all of her repertoire so stunning and spectacular however she knows this what an outstanding voice love to she her performance.? Thank You And MAY God Bless The Met.!!!.
Absolutely beautiful.voice. I think she ranks up there with any current soprano today. I hope she achieves wider recognition. Her diminuendo and phrasing recalled Caballe to me.
This is exquisite. No living soprano can do this... A giant voice handled with consummate artistry. Every word means something to this great lady. And whoever it as who compared her to Renee Fleming ... no comparison. Fleming is a light weight by comparison. Aren't we lucky to have this artist in our midst?
Bravisima! A total surrender. She deeply understands this text. Bellini is in joy. Looking forward to hearing and seeing her full Norma at the Met this Fall :))
That last note is astonishing! And her intonation is perfection. About as good as this aria gets. (I also love Beverly Sills very different but equally heartbreaking version.)
No one has ever sung this better. You can have a beautiful tone, a great technique, perfect phrasing, dramatic instincts, but reuniting all of them in one transcendent performance only happens once in a blue moon. When it comes to this aria, I have only felt perfection when I heard Callas, then Caballé, and now, Radvanovsky sing it. Art and Beauty live on. We are really fortunate to have singers like Sondra Radvanovsky in our days.
She's good. Not as good of breath control as Renee Fleming but one of the better ones from the current era when opera is heavily on a decline. So good for her!
I wouldn't say she chickened out. The role is totally inappropriate for her voice and it could've done damage. Roles are written with different physical demands and not being able to fulfill them isn't necessarily a critique of that singer or their technique. I think it's actually the mark of a mature, smart artist when they recognize things aren't right for them. Especially when pursuing it could cause harm. Fleming is a brilliant artist who just happens to have a voice that isn't suited for the demands of Norma.
i like the phrasing and interpretation but if you listen closely there are some notes out of tune (slightly flat) specially at the beginning . if you listen to the best singers that have excelled in this role like sutherland and callas you'll notice they are always right on the pitch and perfect in the musical articulation of every note. this singer does a good job but no where near the standards of the past.

What a great surprise to find such a beautiful gem. Pure beauty!

the conductor's face at the end said it all. he knew that was exceptional.
Sondra R. is the Queen of Bellini's Casta Diva. She inspires me to learn and sing this arias one day!!🌸🌸🌸🌹🌹🌹
i just cannot get enough of this perfomance ,,, and as for the conductor-- his total tenderness and devotion ..

Utterly exquisite! Masterful beyond masterful. Radvanofsky is brilliant!!!

The most beautiful performance ever..and the way the conductor conducts and leads her..absolutely phenomenal..bravo.

Yes! she fully understands everything; if there is perfection, this is it; saw her Norma in an HD Live broadcast--utterly thrilling...

Saw it today, it was amazing performance
I just did yesterday.:-) It was magnificent. Such a treat for myself. Don't wait.
She is amazing!!!!
Grandíssimo BELLINI. Genial Sondra Radvanovsky. Isto não é música para humanos. Isto é MÚSICA PARA DEUSES.
The clarity of her voice. The rich tones and the power. I'm in love! I put her rendition right up there with Callas's.
This is one of the greatest Casta Diva!!!

Una bellissima voce.

ummm.fleming chickened out on doing an actual production. she knew she didn't have the goods.

Is she the best soprano since Sutherland?
I think so!
who is conducting?
It's outrageous how mediocre Netrebko pretends to be a great diva...and this wonderful soprano is not as half as known
I feel THE EXACT SAME WAY.
