Casta Diva is one of my favourite arias but I've never heard a more delicate version than Kimmy's. In addition, I'm very surprised by her ability to sing the entire aria without the aid of any dramatic gestures that usually accompanies coloratura singing. So glad to have discovered such a wonderful talent today!
all true. we listen and we listen. like watching a play, reading a book you learn to pick up nuances. then Kimy comes along there are no nuances necessary.
I grew up in Bethnal Green, East London in the 60's/70's...yes, time of The Kray Twins. My dad was an armed bank robber but also an artist who won the first and latermany of the Loestler awards for his art. He used to love opera and we listened to it on many many occasions and this particular aria touched me so much as a child. Of course, you had nobody else to share it with when I was a child...it was deemed 'Poofs music' (Try telling THAT to my 6'6" father!!) But this reminds me so much of him. I am so glad that between him with opera and my Mum with her Jazz, I grew up loving music from all over the world. But this rendition is just perfect for me. The last thing I ever want to hear beforwe I die. I have tried playinng it to friends but...they just talk through it about how they appreciate the skill involved etc etc...usual uneducated stuff....but hey...we live on the same plane but different worlds, eh?

Exquisite, effortless and delicate, what a wonderful rendition of one of my favourite arias. She does not have a weak voice, that was perfect! Not ever aria needs to be belted out, Casta Diva as it should be sung!

@@Ellada-hu5tx There is an element of subjection to opera as with all music. I grew up with people saying Callas was best but her voice grated on me from time to time. Monserrat did this beautifully but for me...this is tops. There is a natural mellowness to her voice.
When Andre Rieu came to New Zealand years back, I was lucky enough to be able to attend that concert and my biggest memory was witnessing Kimmi perform. Blew everyone else out of the water.

Agree, beautiful....but despite what opera "experts" say, it is still subjective, just like any other form of art /Music. I grew up listening to Callas singing this but she was too harsh for me from time to time. I preferred Monserrat but Kimi just sits so right on my ears-soul-being....As Shakespeare once said...There is no right or wrong...only thinking makes it so.

Crying for this song it is for me, as an almost old man now, and especially nowadays, not only common but to be considered as an appropriate and good expression of our human being... apart from that, Kimmy is wonderful in voice and glamour... and Andre Rieu direction of the orchestra is superbe... Appreciate it very much... hope to be back, all for us, in a state of mind for a stage like that...

Vous devez être une Maman et une Epouse merveilleuse, tant vous donnez d'Amour !... C'est toujours un bonheur de vous écouter et de vous voir. Votre interprétation de l'Ave Maria de Bach me touche particulièrement. Je partage avec vous, et je ressent avec vous, et à travers votre interprétation, toute la beauté et l'Amour universel de Marie... Et quand vous avez fini de chanter vous êtes encore, pour quelques instants, avec la Maman de Jésus, alors que toute la salle exulte de joie et d'admiration. Là est la vrai émotion qui me touche au plus profond de mon être. Pour moi, le véritable Art, est avant tout une belle émotion ! Quelque chose d'indéfinissable et profond qui nous bouleverse. Kwesi said it perfectly, her voice vibrates like a violin. First time I heard her voice it gave me goose bumps and I loved it. Unfortunately the video didn't have her name so I had to hunt for it. Adding some of her performances to my play list. She's truly a gem 💖

Crying for this song it is for me, as an almost old man now, and especially nowadays, not only common but to be considered as an appropriate and good expression of our human being... apart from that, Kimmy is wonderful in voice and glamour... and Andre Rieu direction of the orchestra is superbe... Appreciate it very much... hope to be back, all for us, in a state of mind for a stage like that...
