@@LibertyisandofChrist Ehh... There are a few Santana licks in there, and Santana would indeed occasionally dabble in mixing between the perfect 4 and sharp 4 within Dorian. The original tone in the Halloween release also reveals a more straightforward overdriven tone (the heavy flange and EQ was on the post release). To be honest, other than the occasional VERY Zappa-esque runs (the pull offs to open strings, the intentionally awkwardly timed rhythms, etc.), the Santana style is definitely similar to this a good bit.
Studio people always telling guitarists to be subtle with their effects. Ridiculous! Guitarists need to share those great sounds with their listeners not hide them. FZ knew

This was written with Ray in mind. Performed by the '76 band with Ray, Frank, Eddie Jobson, Patrick O'Hearn, Bianca Odin and Terry Bozzio, before Adrian had met Frank in Nashville.
I love Adrian but Ray just owns this song vocally. IMO this is THE definitive version of this song.
