  • An early version of the stampede sequence from JURASSIC PARK. After Grant and the kids survived the T-Rex, they make their way through the park to return to the Visitor Center. Along the way, they get caught up in a sudden stampede by a mass of hadrosaurs! In the film, they were swapped out for Gallimimus, per request by Phil Tippett. In the end, the T-Rex returns and downs one of the hadrosaurs in a sudden attack. Featuring never-before-seen storyboards!
    Special thanks to John Bell!
Featuring production artwork by John Bell. Curated and Edited by Derrick Davis. Credits Music by Bernard A. Kyer & John Williams. Estimated sequence creation: 1991-1992.
JURASSIC STORYBOARDS are exclusive videos created to showcase storyboard sequences from JURASSIC PARK. Featuring early versions of famous scenes and omitted moments that never made it to the screen. Most of the storyboards are presented unedited from their original pages in various production quality, with music and ambient sound effects to set the general mood. There are several versions of the same sequences, conveying subtle to extreme differences to how they played out over time. This series is meant to educate and entertain how JURASSIC PARK's talented production artists shaped the film before anything was ever filmed.

I think it should have been a mixed herd of Gallimimus and Hadrosaurus. That way the stakes could be much higher with trying to figure out how to avoid not only the fast and speedy Gallis but also the big and hefty Hadros

This is way underrated. Now, if only we could get a clear look at the Hadro InGen sheet used by Roland and the hunters in TLW, we would actually have some canonical in-universe info on this dino…

Though I'm happy with the Gallimimus in the final film, having the stampeding herbivores be Hadrosaurus _does_ up the stakes IMHO because it's a much _bigger_ animal.

What if it was a mixed herd of Hadrosaurus and Gallimimus?

Well this is scene that we all wanted instead of the Galimimus and this scene was more fateful to the novel

Only knew about this in the novel. I had no idea they were going to do it in the film before..........the usual BTS shenanigans happened. 🦖

Yeah since they had early access to the novel via galleys, they illustrated and scripted many sequences straight from the novel! It's been kind of a thrill to see what scenes like these could have looked like if done as an almost-exact adaptation. If they ever wanted to do a remake or mini-series version, they could easily just dig up old storyboards like these and have most of their work cut out for them!

Was the sequence where Nedry made it to the east dock ever storyboarded?

From the Crichton scripts? As far as I am aware, no.
