OMG, my mom actually used to make this. I still have her hand written recipe. I don't think you cooked it long enough, but it also looked like you used more beans than she used to. Wouldn't have helped much either way. It's an acquired taste to say the least.

The book says 1 cup beans and she throws in a 15oz can so yeah she doubled the beans.
