The current US Army/Marine Corps BARRETT MRAD in .338 Lapua magnum is sufficient for all "reasonable" ranges to 1,500 meters , even 2,000 meters if environmental conditions are good. If a sniper MUST shoot beyond 1,500 meters then I suggest light artillery, not a sniper rifle.
