I lucked out with Raven when I got her. She was already potty trained. We keep a small Pyrex bowl with pellets in it on an upper level and change it out regularly. For fleece liners, we use puppy pads. Both are helpful.
Jenna Young we have two but when we put are dust on top of there cage they get no access to it but if we put it in the cage they with play in it but we have two so one won’t get in so then one will sleep in it

Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. Love your videos. MERLIN is so cute. He looks just like my 3 chins. Keep the amazing content coming. Hope you have an awesome day
I just recently got my chinchilla and she seemed a bit bored but after following her guide she seems more happy but she still hides Behind the pillow when she is on my bed I’m assuming she does not trust me still
I’m thinking about getting chinchillas soon! Well kinda I still need to learn more about them and your videos help me a lot they’re very useful thank you 🥺
I have a chinchilla and him and my cat love to run around each other like dogs. My cat sleeps by his cage sometimes and they hang around each other. They are starting to connect more, they have also never hurt each other. I just got my chinchilla 3 months ago and I have had my cat for 3-4 years. They like to both be mischievous together 😂. I love there relationship, they bonded after 3 weeks. They are both passive my chinchilla is a little more passive aggressive than my cat. It was overall a really good decision to add him to the family. Just be sure if you are getting another pet like a chinchilla and have a pet like a dog or a cat just make sure they are open to other animals. Just be careful because you just want what’s best for the both of them or all of them if you have more than 2 pets.
Here’s some extra info. I let my chins out into my home twice a day. I currently have 5 chins. They were $250 each. They go back in their cage when I ask them to. I could never potty train any of them. I have to clean up little poops everyday. I still have one rescue that hasn’t bonded and it’s been hard. It seams the rescue is trained to pee in the same spot. I use wood shavings as bedding and it is a mess. I use cage spray cleaner and a bucket of hot water. I change all bedding once a week. My chinchilla room has its own air conditioner and I keep it at 65° all year. I do tell my chins no and they do understand. Slapping the floor and saying no is how I taught them to not eat the walls. I change their food bowl everyday. I go to the vet often. I like to check their weight a couple times a year. I have had 9 chinchillas over 4 years and I have been bitten once while trying to bond two chins. I have lost 4 chinchilla. I learned to not castrate my chinchilla unless it is life and death. Never ever spay your female, she will die. The loud noises at the vet is to much for Chinchillas. Do not leave them there unless you have to. I spend about $65 dollars a week on Chinchilla supplies.
My little chin loves music, I’m a pianist and every time I play the piano he’s doing these cute happy noises 🥹 if I’m playing a calm song he falls asleep and when I play fast he starts jumping and playing around ( I always make sure it won’t be loud tho)❤
This is a random video idea but I think you should do a video reacting to videos of family channels buying chinchillas. I see a lot of them where they buy them for their kids and clearly haven’t done any research and say “oh my kids can play with the chinchilla and cuddle it” and it’s clear no research has been done and I think it would be a great way to educate ppl
Whats up with the hay rack? Inside the cage? My chin loves rosehips. I give her a max of 2 a day. She also loves cheerios, dried dandelion leaves, and baked cinamon banana treats from az chins. I occasionally give her cubed alfalfa hay. She gets a fabric hay sack of full of timothy hay per day, and about 1/3 a cup of pellets for 2-4 days. She gets water changes 2-3 times a week as well. She drinks very, very little.
I got my first dog, a husky, a month before a got my chinchilla. My chinchilla was bounced from home to home alot and her first home was in a garage then she went to a home with a bunch of little dogs. So when I got mine I knew she has gone thru a lot of stress between heat, neglect, dogs etc. When I brought her home our dog was not allowed in the same room but I did want them to get used to each other. Roo always seemed fine around my dog. Never too stressed out as long as Max wasn't barking loud or getting too close. I started slow and kept Max on a leash and just sat in the same room with them (roo in her cage obviously). Any time Max was calm it quite or stopped staring at her I gave him a treat. If he started freaking out I removed him from the room. After a week they got used to each other where even if roo was making a lot of noise and jumping around max ignored her. Then we got out second dog, also a husky, it was during the school year and I didn't have much time to train her so it took much longer but after doing the training she got the idea that roo is off limits. Then my sister and her bf got cats and so far they've been in my room once and they didnt seem to interested in roo, but roo was very curious about them. I've never had real issues with other animals and my chin but it does take training. Roo is very patient and never seemed stressed when the dogs were first learning to be calm. Now our second husky will sleep next to the cage and roo will come down to the lower level and sleep next to her. It take time and patience but it can work.
is okay to have a heater in the same room to cause a cool area to get a bit warmer. My room is in the basement, and its pretty cold down here at time, so was wondering if a heater should increase the temp so it doesnt get too cold. I'm still in the process of getting everything for the chinchilla, before buying.
Can you reply to this comment what you feed your chinchilla? Because I’ve done lots of research on them and I’m probably going to get one for Christmas and I want it to have a good life and can you also leave some other link on the comment with things that you put in your chins cage like the fleece and the fleece pan also the hay sack ( also leave a link to the hay you use pls ) also the things on the side that your chin jumps around on and can you leave a link to the hut / chin house you use because I’m probably going to be spending 500 - 600 bucks on my chin and I really want to give it a great life so please reply to this comment with links for those things and I’m already going to get the cage that you have so I want to make sure everything else is good so it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Great video as always! 👍🏻
I have my chin for 5 month now but he started to bite me 2 month ago idk why? So i just dont really go near him i juste give him food and playtime because i don't wan't to be bite like 3 days ago i was giving him food and he bite my fingers really hard
Hi Savannah, I hope you see this, but I have been unable to find an answer to this question anywhere. Are chinchillas sensitive to air freshener, scented candles, or if you are wearing perfume? My husband and I have had experience with pet rats and they have incredibly sensitive respiratory systems so no to all of the above scented things. I was wondering if it is different with chinchillas.
Megan Huffman It’s okay to have some scents, but nothing strong or near the cage. If you have perfume, it’ll be okay to be around the cage. If you have candles or air fresheners in the same room as the cage, it won’t be very good for the chinnie because they have very sensitive noses. Around other rooms in the house it would be okay just not where they can directly smell it if that makes sense. Hope this helped!💕
I have two chinchillas I got the second one to be a friend for the first one there two months apart, and the younger one used to be so easy to pick up now scared of me what do I do? I tried to pick her up several times probably without her wanting me to, so I need to build trust again
Is it bad that my chinchilla loves my dog and when ever he’s in my room she runs up to the cage and my dog just slowly walks over and sniffs her they just seem so happy near eachother
my chin REFUSES to drink out of a waterbottle. ive tried SO MANY TIMEs with so many different ones. she literally only drinks from the bowl... what should I do?
I went to a different PetSmart but this one is not my local one but there was four chinchillas there and I already have chinchillas Chinchi and Gus Gus
Also I was wondering what to do because my chinchilla Lily will only eat like a couple bites out of all the hay I give her. The rest she just strings out on the bottom of the cage and pees in it. I never noticed this problem with my two previous chinchillas. What should I do?
Godisgreat Godbless Merlin sometimes does that too and then he doesn’t eat the hay because there’s pee on it. Just fill up the hay holder with less hay so she has to eat it all before giving her more. Sometimes it can be just fun games for them to yank it all out at once💕
Question about can you have a dog and cats in the house and chinchillas I have two chinchillas and four dogs LOL and we have our chinchillas in separate room so don’t worry they are safe
I have a question so my chinchilla doesn’t have a cage like yours but it’s a smaller version of yours and I’m waiting til Christmas to ask for one like yours does my chinchilla need one like yours immediately or can it wait? And I got my chinchilla since the first of March should I upgrade or can it wait?
I don't have a chinchilla yet but I'm working on getting one. I live in Wisconsin so summers here are HOT and moist so I plan to use my AC daily with cooling blocks. But for future reference, can I put ice cubes in the water bottle?
And do chinchillas need night-lights to help them see during the nights? And I've heard they're very anxious animals so during nights should I play soft calming music/sounds for them?
They’ll be fine with a little night light and you don’t need to play any music. You can put ice cubes in the water bottle but they’ll probably melt within a few hours and it’s hard to get into a water bottle so I’d probably not bother. If you have AC, you’ll be fine 💕
I'm giving my chinchilla fresh apples every 4 or 5 months for years now. he never had any problems and liked them a lot.. but you said never any fresh fruits.. soo should I stop giving him apples? Or is it okay cuz he never had any problems?
I don't recommend that. First of all you have to get an exotic vet that has fixed chins before and even if u can find one it's VERY risky. I would just reccomend putting the male in a different cage unless u want to breed them
I potty trained my fluff, I would wet her pee in a toilet paper put it under the bars so she cant eat it and after few days she stopped peeing randomly in dark spots of cage, now she only pees in 1 specific corner of the cage at the bottom layer.
Can chinchillas have water feeders? I’ve seen people use them for sugar gliders and the amount of water accessible is very small so count bird water feeders be an option or no?
I wouldn't. The difference between using it for a surger glider or any other rodent is that chinchillas CANNOT get wet. Their fur is so dense that if they do they can grow mold in their fur and it can kill them. The risk of water getting on their fur is too high with a water feeder.
My chinchilla has quite a few rough fur spots the past month... What's happening and what can I do about this? Also he chews his fur and scratches himself a lot. I haven't changed his nutrition at all. Oh by the way he doesn't eat any hay no matter what I do
@@devynthecatwithsocks9010 Oxbow botanical hay. I used some other random hay which he used to eat for as long as I've had him but he stopped eating hay altogether in December. So since then I've tried giving him other types of hay with no success. I was recommended the Oxbow botanical hay and he ate it like twice. And he stopped eating it again. About sand baths, the vet suggested I keep them to 2-3 a week
@@RacoonGreg hmmmm. Try western timothy. If that doesn't work u can try alfalfa to see if its the taste he doesn't like. If still a no go then i would take him into the vet. Its very important that he eats hay
@@devynthecatwithsocks9010 well I did take him to the vet and I explained my problem. He really didn't say much. He just said he must eat hay... Guess the vet wasn't really that good as he didn't explain to me how to make him eat hay even though I asked multiple times
I don’t have fleece liners for my chinchilla because my dad thinks they will cause Odor. Is it okay if my chinchilla does not have bedding and just had the pan?? I also have some tiles around her cage and a sea grass mat from AZ chins
No it isn't. The fleece actually is pretty good at ordor control as long as you wash it regularly. If it's just the pan it will stink worse and ur chin will be running around in its own pee, which is grosser and not safe for ur chin. If u have exposed plastic pans then ur chin will chew it and can kill it. I would suggest getting the fleece as it does do a better job at ordor control then having nothing
Do your chins run away when you try to pick them up when play time is over? Mine tends to run from me. He doesn’t seem scared though. Maybe he is just hyper?
neji7412 Merlin is easy to catch because he runs a bit but ultimately doesn’t mind being caught since he knows he’ll get a treat after I’ve handled him. But Zorro absolutely hates it so I try to lure him into a box or his dust bath before transporting it to his cag💕
Puzo Production I’m so sorry for your loss! I know the feeling. And actually, we got Merlin the same day my old chinchilla died and it helped me cope with the pain and loss a lot better💕
I’m getting a baby chinchilla and ur Chanel hope me so much but I got a question I’m getting one chinchilla but should I get two like what’s better and is the two story cage fine for two chinchillas
The Chinchilla Notebook okay thank you so much ! I’m doing lots of research and those are the last things I needed to know about before getting milo tysm !
My vacuum is soooooo loud and whenever I use it my chinchilla literally comes over and starts climbing all over it and whenever he's sleeping and I suddenly turn it on he doesn't even flinch 😂 like wtf?
Mad Chinchillas have sensitive stomachs and digestive systems that cannot property digest the fresh vegetables and fruits. This can lead to gastrointestinal issues or diarrhea, which can quickly turn fatal for chinnies💕
Man, I really gotta improve my care for my chin. Thanks for reminding me.
Jesus loves you pray to god!

The chinchilla notebook I have tried that already and it didn't work but I'll try it again. Maybe 3rd time's a charm! Thank you for replying!
You Are awasome!
Hey there! Was just wondering what cage you have for your chin and how many “ floors “ it has?
Where did you get the large gate for playtime?
Okay thank you 😇💗
I'm giving my chinchilla fresh apples every 4 or 5 months for years now. he never had any problems and liked them a lot.. but you said never any fresh fruits.. soo should I stop giving him apples? Or is it okay cuz he never had any problems?
Zorro lurking in the corner and pleading for hay 👀😄
Ee Lai Kim Dont worry, he got some after I filmed!😊
Hi! I’m gonna be getting a chinchilla soon and I wanna make sure he has a very good wheel do you know any wheels that are good for chinchillas?
The chin spin is a very good wheel!
Yeah the chin spin is a very nice wheel, pricey but worth it. You can find it on Amazon
Devynthecatwithsocks ok thank you!
Why is my chinchilla not eating her hey?😢
To prevent the poop from falling out of my cage I purchased a tool/ really really thin fabric that goes all around
Hey, where do you buy you ledges/platforms for your chinchillas?
sky's slime I made the thin ones and the thicker ones I bought from AZ Chinchillas😊

Getting two baby chins on saterday
is a 79cm x 52cm x 140cm cage suitable for a chinchilla? I don’t have one, I’m just browsing through cages.
Thank u for this video. looking forward to make beginners video. I just adopted a family of chinchillas. Do u recommend fixing the male?
I don't recommend that. First of all you have to get an exotic vet that has fixed chins before and even if u can find one it's VERY risky. I would just reccomend putting the male in a different cage unless u want to breed them
My chinchilla is happy and she is named Zora
Can a plushy toy be a substitute for another chinchilla?
I potty trained my fluff, I would wet her pee in a toilet paper put it under the bars so she cant eat it and after few days she stopped peeing randomly in dark spots of cage, now she only pees in 1 specific corner of the cage at the bottom layer.
Aw man I really wanted a chinchilla I did not know a chinchilla was that expensive 😞
Oh by the way he doesn't eat any hay no matter what I do
How many dust baths is he getting? What hay have you tried?
@@RacoonGreg is this an exotic vet? I would see if you can find another vet in the area
I have a friend who didnt know how to take care of a chinchilla at all. He gave it water baths and the chinnie had a small cage
where’s the chinchilla now?
Do your chins run away when you try to pick them up when play time is over? Mine tends to run from me. He doesn’t seem scared though. Maybe he is just hyper?
neji7412 Merlin is easy to catch because he runs a bit but ultimately doesn’t mind being caught since he knows he’ll get a treat after I’ve handled him. But Zorro absolutely hates it so I try to lure him into a box or his dust bath before transporting it to his cag💕
Aw man I really wanted to get a chinchilla I did not know they where that expensive😞
Can you do a reacting 2 my subscribers cages
My chinchilla died a week ago.🥺
But we got a new one.
Puzo Production aww but at least u get to get another
Puzo Production I’m so sorry for your loss!
Mariah C The two story cage will be perfect for two and yes, it’s best to get two bonded ones 💕
The Chinchilla Notebook thank u
The Chinchilla Notebook thank I so much I didn’t think u would reply thank u soooo much
I love you
PLZ HELP ME !!!
I have a question do chinchillas ever get cold ? Also can I use a blanket for his bedding ?
I put an old towel on the bottom of my chinchillas cage, and he seems to like it.
SiimplyBees He won’t get cold unless it’s below 60 degrees. You can put fleece pillows in the cage for them to cuddle with and sleep against💕
Marikay Storyteller okay thank you so much
The Chinchilla Notebook okay thank you so much ! I’m doing lots of research and those are the last things I needed to know about before getting milo tysm !
can I put a fan around the cage?
where did you get that play pen? 7:56
I hope Zorro and Merlin bond successfully 🙏 💖
How big does the wheel have to be
My vacuum is soooooo loud and whenever I use it my chinchilla literally comes over and starts climbing all over it and whenever he's sleeping and I suddenly turn it on he doesn't even flinch 😂 like wtf?
hey um what do you do when you are having a party in your house how do you keep the room where the chinchilla is, quiet.
Uhh ig have the party in a different house
Lol my dog is legit scared of my chinnie
Why are paper beddings bad?
My one chinchilla Chinchi will run around his cage and when he comes around the front he drifts and kicks out poop and hay
Where did you get your metal hay feeder I can't find any good ones
Hi It’s from Walmart. It is actually an organizer that hooks onto the inside of a cabinet 💕
Can chinchillas be in the same cage
Puppy Tutorials If they are bonded and like each other, then yes. 💕
What if I got 4 of them
Why is it that chinchillas cannot have fresh veggies or fruit?
Mad Chinchillas have sensitive stomachs and digestive systems that cannot property digest the fresh vegetables and fruits. This can lead to gastrointestinal issues or diarrhea, which can quickly turn fatal for chinnies💕
Is it okay to keep a dust bath in the cage for them to go whenever they want?
i know ur not asking me but my vet told me to give them one 2-3 times a week and not every day🙃🙃
Paige Chojnacki It’s best not to leave it in there 24/7 but only a few times per week. I give them the bath twice a week💕
The Chinchilla Notebook thank you!! I saw something on Etsy that you can put in their cage and I figured I should check!
Wow how did he fit threw the small hole
Lps Vivian I have no idea 😂
The Chinchilla Notebook 😂
wait you said that they can't eat nuts but i have been feeding my chin peanuts and hes fine-

My dog is so scared of my chinchilla 😂
