Floor singing the outro, and the tall blonde soldier, that was blown up by the grenade, and was the first to leave the trenches hands up is Hannes, Floor's hubby and Sabaton's drummer.

    A true story.
“December 24th, 1914: Late On Christmas Eve, British Expeditionary Force heard German troops in the trenches opposite them singing Christmas carols and saw lanterns and small fir trees along their trenches. Messages began to be shouted between the trenches. The following day, British and German soldiers met in no man’s land and exchanged gifts, took pictures and some even played football. It was a rare but magicmoment of peace and harmony in the midst of one of the most atrocious events in the 20th century. This is the Christmas Truce Story.
The keyboard melody is based on the Christmas Carol “Carol of the Bells”.
Sabaton spent a lot of time & budget to make this song.
Floor Jansen’s vocal talents add so much emotion to this song!

U probably know already, but the outro is sung by Nightwish's Floor, who is married to the drummer of Sabaton, Hannes, the one who survived the genade. As a band yourself I recommend En Livsted I Krig live in Germany sung in Swedish (with the subtitles on)...the audience sings most of the song with them...also Devil Dogs about the US Marines, the video has great production value

Another super reaction. Sabaton music videos are usually cinematic and epic. This is a song Par (the bassist) and Joakim (lead singer/piano) worked on for years, wanting it to be just right. To me, it is one of the most uplifting, sad, and significant songs ever made. They hired a movie film director and crew for this video. This song tells the tale of the unofficial Christmas truce of 1914. German troops were singing Christmas carols in their trenches, and the English recognized some of them and responded. Soon they were shouting Christmas wishes across No Man's Land, and an unofficial truce was arranged. The troops exchanged gifts, sang carols, and yes, played soccer (football). They went back to war the next day. The generals were not pleased and made sure it never happened again. The cross actually exists and is outside Ypres Belgium. It was placed there in 1999, which is why the video shows Par adding 2021.
Now for the meme: Hannes van Dahl (drummer and first soldier out of the trenches) is married to Floor Jansen of Nightwish, who sang the credits outro.
Again, thanks for sharing the ride, and for another fun trip down the Sabaton rabbit hole. Stay safe, God bless, and keep rocking🤘🤘🤘

This song brings tears to my eyes every time. This is typical of Sabaton.
This was one year into the war. Many of the men who participated were sent to the worst regions to be used as cannon fodder and some of the officers were reportedly executed after this event. It occurred in several places along the lines. As always, Sabaton was being faithful to the historical event. A cross still stands at the location.
They performed this live in their shows here in the States. As you can imagine, the crowd was singing along. When it came to the acapella part, I got chills all over.

This song and video gets me every single time I hear it, it is a true story of both sides on the Western front during the First World War, after this event a lot of the soldiers were replaced as they could not resume fighting, The General order went down that if it ever happened again they would be treated as deserters and could be shot. This means that this was a unique event in either World War.
Sabaton have done a fantastic job of capturing how it must have felt at the time. The piano part is an inversion of the Christmas bells

Great reaction guys. Like most Sabaton songs it is about a real historical event. First Christmas during WW1, German soldiers were singing Christmas carols and then the British responded by singing carols as well. This led to an unofficial cease fire where the troops shard gifts and played soccer. Not sure if you caught it in the credits but the soaring female soprano during the credits is Floor Jansen from Nightwish. Her husband is the drummer and was the blond guy who first steps out of the trenches.
This video is an amazing work of art and perfectly captures the brotherhood of arms that all soldiers, sailors, and airmen feel. As 20 year veteran myself this song really hits me in my feels. Memories like these remain throughout the ages, just as the replica of that particular cross that stands at the place where the original one was raised, now a country road near the village of Warneton in Belgium, one of the places along the Western Front where this AUTHENTIC event occurred in December of 1914. The protagonists have long gone to the realm of shadows the cross however, still stands near the dug-out trench parts in situ, a warning to all mankind to strive for peace and not for war: a warning overheard, alas, again in these last months! Lest we forget!

    The Causes of WWI

Baldrick: The thing is: The way I see it, these days there's a war on, right? and, ages ago, there wasn't a war on, right? So, there must have been a moment when there not being a war on went away, right? and there being a war on came along. So, what I want to know is: How did we get from the one case of affairs to the other case of affairs?

Edmund: Do you mean "Why did the war start?"

    Baldrick: Yeah.

George: The war started because of the vile Hun and his villainous empire-building.

Edmund: George, the British Empire at present covers a quarter of the globe, while the German Empire consists of a small sausage factory in Tanganyika. I hardly think that we can be entirely absolved of blame on the imperialistic front.

George: Oh, no, sir, absolutely not. [aside, to Baldick] Mad as a bicycle!

Baldrick: I heard that it started when a bloke called Archie Duke shot an ostrich 'cause he was hungry.

Edmund: I think you mean it started when the Archduke of Austro-Hungary got shot.

Baldrick: Nah, there was definitely an ostrich involved, sir.

Edmund: Well, possibly. But the real reason for the whole thing was that it was too much effort not to have a war.

George: By Golly, this is interesting; I always loved history...

Edmund: You see, Baldrick, in order to prevent war in Europe, two superblocs developed: us, the French and the Russians on one side, and the Germans and Austro-Hungary on the other. The idea was to have two vast opposing armies, each acting as the other's deterrent. That way there could never be a war.

Baldrick: But this is a sort of a war, isn't it, sir?

Edmund: Yes, that's right. You see, there was a tiny flaw in the plan.

    George: What was that, sir?

    Edmund: It was bollocks.

Baldrick: So the poor old ostrich died for nothing.

I hate most of the sappy commercially over produced Christmas & holiday songs. This is another masterpiece by Sabaton “ Lest We Forget” is their mantra. EN LIVSTID I KRIG with English lyrics ( suggested by Greg I CONCUR wholeheartedly!!!). No Bullets Fly the ANIMATED STORY video is another that will show you the emotional power of” Lest We Forget”. Hey guys. Just wanted to say, 1914 wasn't the worst year of the Great War. The Battle of Verdun hadn't happened yet, and what most people don't know is, World War I is the only war in which chemical weapons were used in any significant amount, namely mustard gas.
But yes, other aspects of the Great War were just as bad, such as rats and trench foot. You're absolutely right that the Great War wasn't exactly a war you wanted to fight in.

Hello gentlemen and gentlewoman.. Sabaton has also a great bunch of songs about american heroes or battles..why dont you try for example: ” To hell and back ” about Audie Murphy. Then you have ”Dreadnought” a battle ship from the new album, then you have ” Devil Dogs” about how the Americans won a battle in the world war after 5 attemps failing.. nr 6 they won over they germans.
Screaming Eagles is another early ages Sabaton song about americans.
Try it out.. you wont get dissapointed.. trust me 🤘🇸🇪🤘🇸🇪🍺👍🍺🇸🇪

I love to watch group reactions, and you're already starting out great (music choices and all) but two pet peeves remain: Please try a higher resolution with your cam, probably with some added lighting because the image is oh so blurry and drowns in those reddish hues, especially on a big screen. And secondly, it'd be great if you could leave your mics on when playing the video - you don't have to talk all the time, especially not over the song, but it's a nice touch to catch some quick commenting audio reaction every now and then. Plus, it keeps the whole thing more organic as the switched off mics create a distance between you and the audience.
Other than that - keep on busting them out!

Thanks for the advise. We're still working on sound and production and all that. But there's a weird echo in here right now when we try it like you said. But it's loud and rocking hard in here. We'll settle on the best of both worlds, eventually.

    • @2ndhandsoulsmusic
      @2ndhandsoulsmusic  Год назад +1

As for video, It's a $40 webcam. We will have to buy a better camera like a GOPRO 11 or something like that in order to improve the picture quality. On our latest video Eluveitite - A Rose for Epon, we tried some different lighting. Hopefully it will make for more enjoyable video experience. As for sound, the mics have to be shut off in the room while the music is playing because the mics pick up the speakers and causes a weird echo effect in the music that makes it unlistenable. Only alternative is headphones. We hate headphones. Although we do have very nice ones, it's just not the same as having a really nice set of recording monitors and a sub rocking loud in the room. Makes for better reactions.

I don't understand how it can _still_ take mouseman flipster 10 seconds of hard concentration to pause the video and unmute the microphone... You do know that simply hitting the spacebar will pause the video, right?
It's just heartbreaking, because it clearly takes you out of the moment, and everyone in the crew is literally waiting to react instead of being able to react in real time.
I don't get it. I mean not everyone is computer-literate, but surely - surely after this many reactions others have pointed out things in the comments that can help you. There must be a better way.
There IS a better way. Other reactors do not do this.
