This was so helpful! I love camels so much, but I'll admit their size is a bit daunting, which is why your channel is so helpful for me so I can learn how to safely interact with them. Another great video Tara!

SO glad you're enjoying the videos! I'm a tiny human and now I see camel's as "Big Dogs"... I don't see their size anymore, but still have a healthy fear of camels, because I know they can be dangerous.

Very interesting and informative but I'm astonished that you did not mention anything about camel bites. Sometime ago I heard that camel bites were a common cause of serious head injuries in Egypt.

Camel's bite in defence. From what I've seen of camels used in tourism they often are overstimulated and misunderstood and tend to get on the defensive side

I think I've changed my mind about buying a camel for my retirement.

So why does a camel tilt their head back and open their mouth? Im a pool guy and i have a client who has a camel. Itll come up to the fence, smell me then tilt the head back, opening the mouth

That pretty common. There's lots of factors. If you wear a potent deodorant anything like that they'll do this. It's to do with overstimulation of smell. Who knows, could be the chlorine?! 🙂

    Can camels make you sick?
Touching camels or being around infected camels or their body fluids (milk, feces/poop, urine/pee, saliva/spit, etc.) can increase a person's chances of becoming infected with MERS-CoV. Common MERS symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Some people also get diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.

They are unpredictable if you don't take the time to understand camels in general. I'm much more inclined to trust a camel over a human. hahaha
