For anyone wondering, this has nothing to do with why you came here. Unless you came here to learn about sticks and boxes. I have an android box, I have laptops. I also have this shitty TV. I don't want android boxes all over the house. If it's simply an app, there's got to be either a way to get rid of the Hisense programing and installing lollipop or something whatever, or apps like Kodi that would work on Hisense TV. My next TV is a Sony, but my heart strings are being pulled towards a Samsung one and a ps box
oh man this is exactly why I just came here. I've had this TV over a year and I love it, but using this shitty Opera OS is seriously ridiculous. Wake me up when someone puts Android on it.
Ash It is technically Android that's the real killer. I used to be a tech & my mind is blown its all gotta work through stick or what not. I sidestepped all that shit. I cast & ran RUclips through my phone (this tv sorta acts like its a Chromecast with the built in App). Anything else? I use the "quick connect feature" (screen mirror) on my Samsung Tab and pop the TV input to "any view" run Kody through the tabet and done. As for built in or run directly from the TV? No go. Plex is the most legit thing on the Vewd (Opera) page for anything else.

For example, I use my Minix Neo X8-H Plus android 4.4 box, currently plugged into a 50" 1080p TV, but soon to be plugged into my Hisense 55H9B2 4K TV when it arrives from Amazon tomorrow. [NOTE: If I were to buy an android box *today*, it would be the Minix Neo U1 with android 5.1 and 60Hz 4K capability.]
Why the heck they don't have google play on this darn tv makes life simple to load kodi from there onto the tv you don't need a box or stick this is dumb google play goes with android you know what I mean. Rethinking this purchase I pay a little more for a sony with google play
danielle mangum the relationship between Hisense and Google ended, that's why. Now the maker of Hisense can't utilize the same tools as it used too. I understand why I got mine so cheap now. Sucks. Thought about trying to erase Hisense and install an android firmware to the tv? Is that possible?
