What Happened Between Stamkos And The Tampa Bay Lightning
#NHL #Hockey #Predators #Lightning #NashvillePredators #TampaBayLightning
And? What happened? 5 minutes of nothing...
what happened? he wanted to get paid, Tampa didn't want to pay him and Stamkos didn't want to take a paycut. saved you a click
This. They paid someone younger who was great at 5 on 5 goals. All of stamkos goals were on power plays. He wasnt scoring 5 on 5 anymore. Ill love stamkos but the lightning had to make a decision to try to get better 5 on 5. Granted it doesn’t change that stamkos had really revived his career.
Damn, if he's that broke I can send him $50.
That franchise has been run impeccably for the past 15 or so years. I’m not a Lightning fan, but second guessing their business decisions is just dumb.
and really this video should be retitled to "What happened between Yzerman and St. Louis" which as a result of BriseBois being there, learned these same tactics as Yzerman and wasn't afraid to pull the same trigger with Stamkos and in an even more dirty way.
Yes. Nuff said. 💯🤦🏿♂️
Yes. Nuff said. 💯🤦🏿♂️
Dirty way? Stamkos is getting old.. and was demanding too much money for his age, He didn't wanna take a Pay cut so the team didn't sign him
He would have been great in a redwings jersey
Best of luck to Stammer and his family. He is truly a great personality. Let it be a change for the better. But he surely will be missed in Tampa.
There is more over-thinking of this than anything I've seen in a bit...and I'm a Bolt Fan. The Lightning had an opportunity to get younger and better (5v5). Something they were terrible at last year. Stammer wanted what the Lightning were gonna pay Guentzle. They had nothing left (being up against the cap). They could either pay an aging Stamkos OR try to get younger (and possibly better) by paying Guentzle. They chose the later because it was the SMART thing to do, for the franchise. And we have a history of this, btw. It's a BUSINESS. And when Stammer retires and goes into the HoF as a Bolt, we'll retire his number and he'll be back for a celebration.
Imagine Pens trading Crosby after getting them the cups and putting the team on the map.
Imagine Caps trading Ovi after getting them the cup finally and making history.
You do NOT trade not just your star--but the entire FACE of your franchise and CITY SPORTS--even when they get old. You stay loyal and find a middle-ground contract for them to retire with the same franchise. Tampa absolutely disgraced him and their fans.
Yah i mean i understand if they wanted to move on although I was hoping he'd play his whole career with one team like crosby and ovi as you said since like them he single handedly resurrected the lightning and made future players around him stars as well but it's how they handled it. If that was the plan all along why didn't they just say so? Why did they keep giving out so many false hopes to him and the public? You know? The lack of transparency is what upsets me. I am not even a lightning fan too
Согласен с вами 100%👍💪
it happens.
ITS WORSE! They didnt even trade him XD absolutely agree I am a long time bolts fan and I feel like my gf just cheated on me but I am forced to live with her
@@titanscam17 Could have stayed. Asking to much$$. . .Tampa will be ok. Could they use Stamkos?. . . sure. Will they use that cap space to better a team? Yes.
Okay... so what happened? What actually precipitated his departure? Didn't really cover that one.
the lightning simply wanted to go in a different direction but they didn't say it properly. Instead they ket giving out false hopes that bringing him back would be the biggest priority only to turn back at the very last second.
Obviously a HOF player who can make 700 goals if he chooses. My 2 favorite Lightning players are Stamer and St Louis. St Louis was an amazing player and inspiration for
Beating odds
I couldn’t believe what happened. It would be like Lidstrom leaving my Wings
They wanted to get better 5v5 and defensivly. So far mission accomplished. Smart move moving him. Genius actually. Stamkos was basically a PP specialist. And a defensive liability. So was Serg.
I didn’t get them parting ways with stamkos or marty tbh but all I know is that NASHVILLE looks scary on paper
I wish he came to Toronto. Canadian teams, need their stars back.
I love the Lightning...but this was a huge letdown by Tampa's front office. Treat him well Preds, as his time wearing your sweater is temporary. #91 be hoisted to the rafters of Amalie one day...as Stammer will ALWAYS be our Captain! Go Bolts!!!
He has a history of being injured and TBL didn't want to bet on him being healthy into his late 30's. That was my assumption.
his injuries are long gone and even with them he always picked up where he left off. Crosby has an injury history and he always bounced back like they never happened too
@@ethanparker7900 It's not only about injuries. For his age, he is still good at 5 on 4 or 5 on 3, but not good enough at 5 on 5 for his salary.
@@paolorossi8470 only one bad season of 5 v 5 doesn't define his whole career and there's more o a player than his on ice play
@@ethanparker7900 In the cap era with a player who is almost 35 it matters. He's not getting any younger.
@@paolorossi8470 his entire career no it shouldn't define it but now i suppose
Wow, nice job going on an tangent and explaining nothing 🙌🏻👏🏻
Stammer is free to give his version of the story and we are free to believe him... or not.
He moved to the Preds and he got 8M/year in a contract running until he'll be 38. It's just 500k less than what he was getting with the Bolts.
The Bolts probably made a mistake because I don't see Guentzel as a safer option than Stammer, but his contract with the Preds confirms that he was looking for money and didn't do his best to find a way to stay in Tampa 🤣
Players should just assume they run after money more than after a Stanley Cup. Nobody will blame such honesty. Regular workers do the same.
he and his agent wanted to take a giant discount to stay but still ignored him. If they wanted to go in a different direction they could've just said that rather than lowball him like they did. Transparency and communication is whats key
$8 mil for a 34 year old is insane
well he was trying to stay in tampa on a giant paycut then nashville offered that which im sure was too tempting to ignore. All in all, the lightning need to be better on communication in the future about what they want or don't want
Well that was a great video about what happened with Marty St. Louis 😂
I've got nashville winning the cup this year
Interesting.
because Milton and Helene
Dude, he got old. Nothing happened.
Im sickened by this....I cant watch him in a Nashville Jersey...
Whether people like it or not, wt the end of the day it's a business. Now, if something very shady happens or gets called out then I get wanting to inquire, but this move was a cap related move and not seeing him be.who he was again. Whether or not that that's the right take time will tell but I dont see him being In the league too much longer at a high skill level he has been known for. So it's a smart move for both sides.
why didn't they just say that then? Why did they give out so many false hopes and offer one low ball offer before walking away with no further effort whatsoever? If they wanted to move on they could've just said that.
Tampa will use you and spit you out prob won’t even retire his number if they haven’t already
The hurricane is Stamkos’ revenge
oh, so this is why G-d's wrath was brought down on tampa...
Next four years champions. Make a song of it!
🤑
That is NOT why St Louis left the Lightning. It was a decision that many insiders know but it wasn't because he was initially left off the Canadian team.
Source? Yes there was obviously family reasons as well that he stated but he could have actually left the team in 2010 if he wanted to for those family reasons as well after he got left off the 2010 team too and they hired Yzerman that same year. He tried to keep the talk about the trade vague afterwards but admitted in the Tampa Bay Times article that it was primarily because of being disrespected a second time by Yzerman and it left very sour taste in his mouth and requested the trade at the same time. So I mean even the timing is very convenient.
Bottom line is not having Stamkos hurts the team but it's a business
Actually it doesn't. They got better moving him.
