Дякую Ірена, з Канади! Very good video! I taught my French husband to say "я тебе люблю" - the only other phrase that he knows is "я не знаю". :) If you would like suggestions for other videos, can I please suggest Ukrainian slang phrases? -- or Ukrainian Slang in other countries? for example; this one is probably not used in Ukrainian today, but in Canada, Ukrainians will say "вигулювати ведмедя" (walk the bear) which means, in slang, "go get more alcohol". Or, my mother's favourite curse is "не тебе качний копний" - which means in slang 'may something unexpected happen to you (that you may not like)" but actually means, "may you get kicked by a duck." Just some ideas... thank you for your videos-- I love re-learning (unlearning bad habits) my native language. Слава Україні!

Hi, Inna, you are the best!
license (LIE sense) = permission ; 2 syllables (no, I haven't bothered to learn Int'l phonetics)
licentious (lie SEN tchus) adjective = presuming license, possibly excessively; this word has 3 syllables!
licentious-ly (adverb) and licentious-ness (noun) each have 4 syllables!
My Ukraiinian students of English Language have problems with this stuff all the time!
And, I ask them to bite their lower lip (gently) before pronouncing the word "verb"! Works every time!

Привіт Іно. Я думаю, що слово "розпуста", ймовірно, неправильно витлумачено. "Licentious" в англійській мові - це той, хто морально схильний до сексуальних уподобань, зазвичай це щось негативне. Також ви промовила воно трохи неправильно, але вже підозрювала про це. Можливо, ви могла б трохи уточнити точне значення українською мовою, чи я не впевнений, що це точне значення?
