My fiancé is a combat vet. She was hit by a ied in Afghanistan in 2007. She was ready to pull the trigger when I met her. I made the call and now we have a beautiful son and our wedding is in 8 weeks.
the first verse of this song explains why I have always believed that if you suddenly find yourself thinking about someone that you haven't spoken to in a while there is probably a reason
Yeah trust that feeling. One of my Dads friends came by to visit him today. But he couldn't, because he died 3 months ago. We had to tell him and he said he got the feeling to visit him 4 months ago when he was in town but figured he would catch him next time. Then next time was too late. Then he had found out another of their friends went last month. So he put off visiting and ended up missing two friends.
Your "Veteran" label on your videos is what first attracted by to your channel. Your faith keeps me coming back. I was Navy but we are all brothers in uniform. And, believers are brothers in Christ.
I come from a military, first responder family. My father, grandfather, my brother, and myself were/are all volunteer first responders. My father was, he passed last year, and my brother are both veterans. I did not server in the military, but was a volunteer first responder. I am just a little to old now to jump on a rig, but have been given the honor of a lifetime membership into the fire house. My grandfather was one of the first to start the fire service in my little town, were I grew up. While severed I was given the honor of wearing my grandfather's badge number as he had passed before I joined. My brother was also given the same honor when he joined. (I am sure you can understand what an honor that was.) I took the college path and became a teacher in that same little town. Our station, for many years, had the only set of "the jaws of life" for many many miles around. My family and myself responded to way to many auto accidents. I never got to the point of holding a gun, and hope none of those I hold dear ever have, but I will say this. I did and still have many, many nights of 'dreams' and visions I can not sleep through. Please Please PLEASE if you know a veteran, a first responder, or dispatcher, pick up the phone a lot. Oh in closing, if there is ONE vet not in a home, or receiving the help they need our nation should be ashamed.
This ain't just about war vets this is about anyone going through something. Friends family anyone you care about call and check up on them. You never know what they are going through. It doesn't hurt to call and check up on them. Its appreciative.
That line" if someone you is know is weighing on your mind" hit them up. Any way shape of form, let them know your thinking of them. It can change their day, week month or life.
I was about to end it one time. Already out in the country and my baby boy was 4 and called and asked when I'd be home because he needed me to tuck him in. Got my butt home. I've got 3 boys that need me. Thats my purpose. Never turned beck down that dark road. Im actually trying to start a group that helps people with depression. The struggle is real
Hey brother I have been watching you react to veterans music. I just want to say thank you for your service and heart felt comments. I served in a different generation. I'm a retired ranger and served in Nam. In the darkest hour when the demons come call me and we will fight them together.
Didn’t expect to tear up from this and now I have to go to therapy and explain why Ive been crying. Long story short...a phone call saved my life! 💜 Peace y’all ❤️
22 year Navy ...THANKS MAN!!! LOVE YOUR TRIBUTE!! I'm Veteran Service Officer for my county now....I deal with all kinds of problems...and PTSD is BAD!! I know what you are saying!
This song saved my life. My best friend who I call my sister, heard this song and called me when I was in a really dark place. I am a victim of several forms of abuse and was contemplating suicide one night, when out of no where my phone rings and she's on the other side of the line telling me that I was in her thoughts even though I had literally seen her half an hour before she called. I don't preach God and religion but I know there was a Higher power working at that moment in time.
I've not served but I've got my own demons, phone calls literally do save lives. Because of the journey I've taken I can recognize the signs in others and always reach out
Ive seen this music video, and listened to this song, numerous times. Yet everytime I listen to it, I get choked up. When you get to that point where you dont wanna be here, and get to the point where you just about to end it, and someone texts or calls you. And you realize, someone does care.
Billy so emotional . Reminds me of so emotional . I really love your patriotic spirit. Gives all mom pride. to really here your. Love & Support . For moms, dads&wifes. All left behind , To wonder if my , Chiled comes home or there's ..
I feel you man one of my battle buddies earlier this week tried to commit suicide by jumping the ledge of the barracks a battle buddy and myself had to tackle him to stop him but man that shit was hard seeing him like that after that happened ive started checking up on my battles almost everyday
Now a days a text could be enough to. As someone who has anxiety and doesn't do well on the phone and can't call or text people when I'm in a bad way I always hope someone will reach out and text me and just be my friend. So just checking in on your friends is all that matters whether it's call or text
I feel so blessed to have such a friend. She calls on regular bases just to check on me Anything happening in my life she is the first person I call. Always there for me and I try to always be there for her.
i have PTSD its not just a serviceman thing my daughter was murdered in 1979 i was pregnant and was attacked beaten and held against my will my baby didn't survive the attack i was diagnosed with PTSD when i was 17 yrs. old. I hate it when people think PTSD only effects soldiers because it is not true.. then in 2017 my son took his own life. PTSD is diagnosed every damn day. Btw thank you for your service Billy my father, grandpa and 3 uncles served in the military. My uncle Jimmy was in Vietnam and was subject to Agent Orange he doesn't know anyone anymore it breaks my heart. No one deserves to be homeless. Reach out to anyone who needs a friend.
Great reaction and great advice. You truly seem to get it. Especially for a young man. This song touches my heart because my family had a terrible tragedy a few years back. My son and stepson’s mother was beaten to death by the man she was dating (we were apart for a year). My boys were 12 and 19 at the time and if it weren’t for their amazing friends, family, teachers and future stepmom’s constant contact and support I’m not sure how they (or I) would’ve gotten through it. This one hits home! Thanks for getting it and most of all thanks for your service!! The world needs more young men like you. Much respect brotha!
What I would give. The 3 people that could call me and understand all came back dropped with a flag over them. I cannot even begin to put into words the level of survivors guilt. I couldn’t save them no matter them no matter how hard I tried. I’m still here and I’m still battling. I battle PTSD and life everyday, for me and my children.
remember the first time I heard this song I almost had to pull my truck over on the freeway it hit me hard. thanks for your service and thanks for playing that song
What a wonderful song! Hey, a phone call -- hearing the voice of a loved one or a friend just makes all the difference in the world. My family members are all about 1000 miles away, so we're on the phone a lot. I remember when my husband and I first moved away from our home and I was living 1000 miles away, that phone call from home just meant the world. It's important to stay in touch and while letters mean a lot, too, that real live phone call just makes a world of difference. It's encouraging, even when you don't realize you need encouragement.
I lost a childhood friend of mine who was a First Responder for quite awhile. He ended up at the end of a dead end road just like the first vet in this song. Only difference is, he did not answer the calls of so many trying to call him. R.I.P. Skippy. U are missed. So I do agree, the point is, pick up the phone and check on your friends, loved ones. You never know!
I'm a civilian who knows that type of feeling, I tried, and failed to save someone, watched them die a gruesome death, they barely brought me back many times that night, nothing could possibly hurt me more than the love and support from her family, but it kept me from making that last decision.
I've been in that place and I've also been on the other side of it. Been on the phone begging someone to keep talking to me because I didn't know if they hung up if they'd be there tomorrow. Calling and answering calls can make the difference, 100%
Hey Billy I'm glad your ok . thank you from an ex sailor. Spent ten years doing big circles inside of little circles Never was in much danger but when I finally came home it was pretty much like you said. I was discharged on a Saturday and was working that Monday morning. I would find myself thinking about getting back to the boat. Then I would remember that wasn't going to happen. Lasted for a few years. But everything is fine now. Don't really talk about it. Hope I didn't bring you down. Just thank you and I really enjoy your show.
I am that strong friend and two nights ago i broke i am dealing with a lot emotionally and it got the best of me i never thought of suicide but as i was going through it my best friend from college texted me to see how my birthday was going and we talked for about an hour I’m always the one who people come to so it was nice to know that people still care in 2020
This one hits close to home. I was never in the service, but have PTSD and alot of health issues. Theres been times I've been so down myself and was had been considering ending things and had gotten several calls at that time from buddies that just felt the need call, I couldn't have made it as far as I have without them
I don't talk on the phone as much as I used to. My best friend (he's been gone 3 yrs) and I would talk at least 8-12 hrs a day. We could talk about anything and knew that if we needed anything the other would be there. He was an Army Ranger years before i met him and I was a sounding board for him when it came to that. There have been several times in my life when I've felt hopeless and like I wanted to end it all. I was lucky, I always had a friend or two I knew I could count on to be there for me. Not everyone has that though.
God, this song really got to me..wasn't in the service or anything like that, but well, was close to ending it..and randomly my ex stopped by and we had a long conversation about life and my future. I didn't even see her for maybe 6 months and she just stopped..not dating her but she is a close friend and I know for a FACT she is my angel 🙂. You never know what someone is going thru and just reach out!
My pops (rip) served the navy for 23 yrs and was damn proud. But man u are right no service man or woman should be homeless. This country has failed the heroes for sure
I know what you mean man, I have a small circle of people that will always listen and just let me work things out in my head and the same for them. We'd jump on a plane for each other if it's bad.
PTSD is rough on others that have faced other traumatic issues as well,I have it because I had open heart surgery and even though I'm almost 7 months out I still have flashbacks and thoughts.
Street's of heaven is a good song to listen to. I can relate to that one a lot. You're right that the strong ones or ones who listen and help others all time usually need it the most. I always listen and help others. I'm known as the neighborhood mom to everyone including older people. No one ever checks up on me unless they don't see me for days.
Great great reaction bro I wish all RUclips reactors would react to this song so many ppl that would never listen to this song would get to listen to a very very strong message
Yep I had a time I couldn't get my niece out of my head. I called my sister in the middle of the night and told her go check her right now. She said just a minute,I heard yelling and the line disconnected. A little while later she called back and told me my niece wasn't breathing when she got to the bedroom. She was 4 and was sick. She's doing good now. Just something told me check her now.
i can deeply relate to the first verses in the song. ive been on the edge a few times myself. just makes me wish i woulda called my friend before he took his life back in the day. but the pain that caused me gives me the desire to not want to put others through that. one last thing my friend taught me.
Billy I was once in need of that call when I got out and it came at the right time and it has been a long time since and made a few myself to friends in darkest hr
My fiancé is a combat vet. She was hit by a ied in Afghanistan in 2007. She was ready to pull the trigger when I met her. I made the call and now we have a beautiful son and our wedding is in 8 weeks.
Wow congratulations on getting married and thank your wife for her service for me!!

"That's What Brothers Are For" by Dean Brody is a good military song to add to this series. 😉

Amen brother as long as there is a homeless veteran we have failed.
My pops (rip) served the navy for 23 yrs and was damn proud. But man u are right no service man or woman should be homeless. This country has failed the heroes for sure
I ment a homeless veteran that felt more at home and comfortable outside than in a house. He was not the same after his tours.
I know what you mean man, I have a small circle of people that will always listen and just let me work things out in my head and the same for them. We'd jump on a plane for each other if it's bad.
