Please have more faith in Iga. The only reason why she did not remained as YE no 1 is because she didn't play due to suspension. Still she had most wins in 2024, even more than Saba, better win/lose ratio, she won most titles (5)...

@@julianandrews7 Also WTA forfeited 390 points from Iga during September since she has not played enough tournaments. That also impacted the no.1 ranking of hers. Positive dope test results really affected Iga’s progress. She had missed 2 1000 events, 1 500 event and also couldn’t perform well in WTA finals too because of all the stress she was going thru. It could have been another close contest between Iga and Sabalenka for no.1 race this year too. But Sabalenka getting no.1 is well deserved considering she didn’t play Wimbledon too.

Ben really doubting Rybakina and expecting her to go into massive decline? If you ask me, she feels more motivated right now and looks likely to have her redemption story in 2025. The fallout from Stefano Vukov was the real big problem she had in 2024 and many suspected her physical issues that made her miss so many tournaments could be traced back to it.

Agreed. I think she will have a good year and will finish inside of the top 10. The only way she gets to top 5 is if Rybakina, Pegula, Paolini, and Zheng all go MIA this season. Mirra's problem is that she actually has a decent amount of points to defend at the Grand Slams this year and her ranking is going to consistently put her in situations where she's going to have to have consecutive wins against top 10 players to make a move up the rankings. That said, the only way I see her in the top 5 by year end is if she somehow finds a hole in the draw at one of the majors and squaks out a win. I think her best chances for that would be the FO and Wimbledon. Wouldn't be mad about it... just think it's highly improbable.

as everything goes i think zheng's gonna be a top10 mainstay for plenty of years to come, as for paolini i think she's got way many points to defend and while i enjoyed watching her deep runs at gs events i think she heavily benefited from (and for wc - the field as whole) sabalenka's absence (or just not having to face her hence andreeva got the job done at rg), so i cant see her repeating the same success she had in 2024, but i can see her picking up other tournaments outside of gs (maybe not even 1000s, but rather 500s & 250s) and maybe actually winning gs in doubles since errani's having career resurgence

After the U.S. Open win (as a teenager), she had a lack-luster end to the season because she immediately started working on her forehand and trying to generate more pace off the ground. That, coupled with the serve changes she started tinkering with, 2024 was a year of "foundation building." So... not at all shocked to see it starting to come together now.

I don't really have a prediction regarding ranking (and if i did people would perhaps rightfully crucify me) but my boldest predictions are that:
    1. Andreeva wins RG and cracks top 10
    2. Paolini and Muchova win a slam
    3. Coco has a clear shot at taking YE #1 home.
Overall I think this season was crazy, the level of the whole WTA top 20 was very even and nobody was safe which was fun to watch, but Rybakina and Coco's comeback, Sabalenka having to defend so many points and various different players coming into their own might really stir the pot.

I didn't mean to be disrespectful towards Rybakina but her health and fitness woes have refused to go away and getting older doesn't help either.

What l said about Coco will remain unchanged because we saw it with Serena and Venus when they started winning.
Even some of Coco's fellow players simply want her to fade away rather than facing her and possibly losing and l can mention the likes of Marta kostyuk etc.
Perhaps you don't fit the mold l was talking about but kindly know that people still hate based on prejudice rather than facts.
I can say it once again, the momentum is not with Iga. It is not with Rybakina. Among the top 4 only Sabalenka has been consistent and Coco without many double faults usually beats her easily. But haters will never give Coco any chance because they simply don't want her to have any chance.
A few weeks ago l mentioned that Coco is gonna be world's #1 next year and one polish fan said that can only happen in Africa. You can see the racist dimension now? They can't wrap their heads around Coco becoming the best player because Coco doesn't look like Rybakina or Iga or Mirra but they would rather promote Raducanu who mysteriously won a single GrandSlam but has failed to win even the smallest tournament ever since.
That's the world we live in. Merry Christmas 🎄

@@trommelbiel i wont say iga is on decline bc of body language. I think she has a lot to give in the game and many aspects to improve. The guy that said that about coco and africa yes its a shitty human being but that doesnt mean that iga or any player should take responcibility for that. In my eyes the best players this season are gonna be zheng, swiatek, gauff and sabalenka, but noone can know how the season is gonna progress

Coco has the ability to dominate every player on tour, just as with Iga & Saba. Aryna is my favorite player by a mile, but Coco is the player with the most upside.

I don't understand the hype in Coco, she is a great player no doubt. But I won't say she is better than Rybakina, Sabalenka or Iga for now.

People will give you crap for predicting this, but if Coco wins the AO, the possibility of a calendar year Grand Slam is very much in play. I've always felt like Coco's dominate surface outside of clay was the grass. She just lacked the confidence and offense she needed to compliment her serve and backhand. Now that those things seem to be in place, I'm really excited to see how many she can win this year. Just wait and see! At the AO, her opening match with Kenin is the one I'm most anxious about. When she gets through that, she's going to fly.
