As a wounded combat vet. I would like to say THANK YOU for keeping the message going. I've lost more brothers and sisters to their own hands then ever in combat.

For those who may be asking how does a vet become one of these statistics, watch "Gone Away" by Five Finger Death Punch. It deals with vets having survivor's guilt.
The video for Gone Away is an accurate depiction of the daily battle I have dealt with for many years. However I am one of the lucky ones who found good help within the VA system and thankfully am still here because of it.
My father drank himself to death to cover his thoughts feelings the guilt I myself suffer by watching him as I was growing up. But I am damn proud of my dad and everybody who has served

This is one of the videos you will get never out of your mind again. Everytime I hear that song I see ths video. I am happy that in our society soldiers are treated better. A professional soldier here goes to retirement with 55 and gets 75% of his last salary before taxes and with a very good health care. We also lacking the support of PTSD treatment, but it is a quite rare condition. Thank you for your honest reaction.
This song is the only song that if I hear it, I am 100% guaranteed to cry. I served in Iraq twice and Afghanistan once for a total of 40 months in combat. My first tour to Iraq lasted 16 months. Our Brigade alone lost 52. Our Battalion lost our CSM and 12 others. I don't think I could ever talk about exactly what we went through not even to a shrink but know that I will never forget them and those that never made it home.
My father is a Vietnam Veteran. He is special forces green beret. To every soldier and veteran thank you so much for your service. And to all the Vietnam Veterans “welcome home”.
"How many wasted lives, how many dreams did fade away Broken promises, they won't be coming home" While many die overseas, many of those who make it back still aren't home. Their sanity and their minds were destroyed for wars led by war profiteers.
I didn't serve myself, but everytime I see this clip there's a big lump in my throat. I have a deep appreciation for those who served, gave their life or are still at places I surely don't want to be.
Hey, don't worry about tearing up, dude. You are certainly NOT alone in that. Thank you for treating this one so respectfully. I'm glad you let the video finish all the way through. That's awesome.
My Dad Growing up told me "Don't cry for everything." I think he understood that things like what's presented in the video are a prime example of the powerful things that will undoubtedly make a grown man cry or at least tear up. We don't cry for everything but when we do for something, ya best damn well respect it.
There nothing wrong with tears of Love for our Heroes. Here is the Love of The Brotherhood. I can hardly stop crying. My family was all military I grew up military and I have fought for our Brave Heroes to get care....I currently work with a Marine Col and even through him it's so hard because of Politicians BullShiT*. It's our responsibility to look out for and care for our Military Veterans. They gave and died for me and they never knew my name. God Bless you for getting this out for our Veterans they need us.
Thanks for remembering our fallen. RIP to my Dad, killed in Vietnam when he was 26 and I was 2. Thank your step-father for his service. I'm glad he made it home. God bless America.
I'm so sorry, brother. I wish he could have gotten the help he needed, before he felt his own hell caused him to take his own life...hearing that a brother lost his battle, hurts. Sincerely, you have my condolences...
I'm incredibly sorry! I wish the system was better for our Vets. But, there are also Vets who won't get help. I know this coming from an almost entirely military family. There are some great programs out there. But, I think what we need most is a program that creates a better transition between military and civilian life. BEFORE they get out! That would be the most helpful thing we can do. And make better changes at the VA. It's better than it was. But far from good. I've Lost all three of my parents.( Father, Mother and Stepfather) All are buried in National Cemeteries along with Aunt, Uncles and Grandparents. The VA was truly horrible in Phoenix AZ. Neglect and failure to do basic tests cost me my Mom and Stepfather only months apart. Anyway, I do hope in time that our troops get much better care. But given our White House's agenda right now, I doubt it will be any time soon. 💕🙏🇺🇸 God Bless those all who have fought and fallen! All of our Troops who serve and have served!
thank you for the kind words. As a US Marine I appreciate it. It was an honor to serve, and we don't (or shouldn't) ever demand thanks or perks for it, but it's nice to hear all the same. I agree with your sentiment about vietnam, everytime I see one of those hats I make a point to shake their hand and tell them thank you... the way they were treated at the time was despicable and I can only hope it helps a little now. Don't be ashamed of tears either. I'm a big tough Marine and this song has me crying by the end too.
The best description I’ve ever heard for FFDP - they aren’t pro war, they’re pro soldier. I’m not gonna lie, this ones one of the very few vids that can reliably get me to tear up a bit. If you want another one similar, their version of Gone Away had a similar vid.
Bro! I know how you feel. I'm a vet, my dad and big brother(adopted) were both in the Bush in Nam. I took my youngest daughter to a FFDP concert and a vet was sitting on a curb homeless and talked to him and gave him $20 that night. My daughter asked me why and I simply told her I am my brothers keeper. I'll remember talking to him that night for the rest of my life.
I'm a Vet, my wife is a Disabled Vet, and 1 of our son is currently serving in the US Army. Thank you for doing this! On a side not, I got to spend Memorial Day in DC paying my respects at our National Memorials with both of my sons, my son in law and one of their good friends. Arlington National Cemetery and the Changing of the Guard is overwhelming.
“I wouldn’t be able to do this if it wasn’t for them.” I wish more people knew and appreciated that truth like you do. A very respectful and heartfelt video! Thank you! You’re awesome Heath!
It is both beautiful and disgusting how long that list is. NONE of those organizations should have to exist. But they do, and all blessings to those on that list.
Yes! on the one hand, I'm glad there are so many organizations out there helping veterans, but the people who send our soldiers out need to take better care of them by default when they come home. Like the song says, they're not made of stone.
I am a VA brat ,I ran the Halls from the time I was 3, my father could not serve because of the only surviving son rule so he fought through Administration cutting red tape for VA benefits,At 20 I got married on one of the permanent care Ward's and I can tell you what I've had the privilege to Bear witness to haunts my waking soul to this day I just want to say bless you and yours and all who serve past present and future and maybe one day there will be peace..God speed🕊❤🙏
Death Punch definitely has a way of opening people's eyes to what battle can do to those who fight for our protection. One of the reasons as to why I love them. More songs like this are their cover of Gone Away and also When the Seasons Change. Also more songs that benefit veterans are from a group called the Warrior Song Project I believe. They've done songs for most the branches like Hard Corps, The Warrior Song, Aer Vis, Leviathan, and Aquila Natus. They all sound similar, but the lyrics and sounds are a little different to reflect the branches. My favorites are Hard Corps since my dad is a Marine, and Leviathan since my granddad was in the Navy
I did grow up to be a soldier, like most in this country since we have conscripts in Finland. Happy that I haven't been needing those skills yet & I made a choice not to go fight against somebody in their hometurf as a peacekeeper. I got hard time to think about the situation in the US as a vet.. being homeless & fighting with PTSD.. I really wish you guys could do alot more to help those! end the homeless problem & get the help they really need. :)
my fiance has fought in both Iraq and Afghanistan..be has ptsd and night terrors I have to calm him down and relax him. our men are amazing people and a lot turn a blind eye to our vets. thank you for this video
It's okay dude. I don't know of one single person that doesn't shed a tear with this one. This is why every single veteran I see I thank them for their service and shake their hand.
My father was a war veteran, who was injured by mortar in the 90's during Croatian war of independence. After he got back, he was never the same person, suffering from the servere PTSD, which finally led to his early death at the age of 57. This song hit me hard. But thank you for a great reaction nevertheless. Best regards from Croatia my man 🤘
as a disabled Veteran who has been homeless and battle hardcore drug addiction in the past this song always hits me really hard. good video. it earned you a new sub
FFDP is an incredible band with great songs. I have no words to express how awesome it is that they use their platform to share such a message. God bless our veterans.
yeah this one hits deep lyrically imagine someone who actually came through it thanks for this heath for this one i kept having chills upon chills i know this song for years but the video gets me every time wow
My grandfather ws in ww2, hes still here thankfully, each time i see a veteran or generally someone within army or navy or anything like that i stop ehay i am doing, walk up too them, shake their hand and thank them for putting their life on the line for our country
my polar bear friend, in these videos if you feel like crying (which is normal), cry. I know you take breaks to breathe, but showing feelings is a beautiful thing. big hug and be fine
Wow absolutely amazing and I really do appreciate the video and posts, Sir you are a gentleman. I'm a Vetran of 22 years service in the British Army, I have seen active service in Northern Ireland, Iraq, Afghanistan and United Nation peace support operations. It's fair to say I watch this and it hits hard, so many accuracies attached to this video and many more like it. I would like to take this opertunity to thank my amazing Daughter for standing by me and giving me a reason to come home, this young lady grew up with me serving so she has sacrificed and shown selfless commitment for the greater good too, I love you so much and thank you for being you my amazing Daughter. I'm proud to have served my family, country and SOME of the good people within it, I would also like to state that my service was all combat based and I served with heros, my Brothers and Sisters respect to you and I love you all. Nigel.
Navy vet here--thank you to all my brothers and sisters who paid the ultimate price, to those who survived, and to all who continue to serve. Thanks for reacting to this song--one of my favorites.
Thank you for your service. Nothing breaks my heart more then our country needing charities to take care of veterans. This video kills me every time I watch it but I cannot stop watching it.
Thank you for what you said about the Vietnam Vets.🧡 My Dad is a Vietnam Vet. We lost him November 4th.😭 My heart is in a million pieces. I appreciate it when someone shows respect to those who fought in Vietnam bc they were so disregarded when they got back home. When he saw another Vietnam Vet, recognized by a cap or something, (I bought my dad a cap that said Vietnam Vet about 15 yrs ago) they always said welcome home to each other. I get so angry when I see someone disrespecting a Vet.😡
For years, I do alot of volunteer work weekly with veterans of all different wars so this video has made me tears up every, single, time I watch it! Please support our Veterans in any way you can. Prayers, donations, volunteer or just shake their hand and say thank you. They deserve so much more!!
It’s written by a Canadian Soldier that I served with inBosnia in the Artillery. Try “what the soldier left behind” by Elton Adam’s. well worth it for Memorial Day! Great vid bty.
Thank you for this video. As an Army vet that was medically retired after serving 13 years. This seriously hits home. I feel guilty that my brothers and sisters in arms are some of these statistics and I am one of the ones that is "ok" and i use the term ok loosely because I fought in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of the 10th Mountain Division and have been through literal HELL. I have chronic PTSD, and if it wasn't for the support of my wife and son I would have been a statistic too. With what we go through we are essentially led to believe we are expendable and nothing more than an instrument of war and are discarded once the government feels we are no longer of any use. I know there are people out there that care but do not know these numbers and the government just sweeps these issues under the rug. It is a very serious issue that needs to be corrected, for the sake of my brothers and sisters pleas pay attention and do research on these issues.
5fdp has saved my life many many times.... As a veteran who suffers from PTSD, I battle demons everyday. I fight hard to keep from becoming one of the 22+1 a day. When at my breaking point I crank 5fdp. I humbly request you react to Gone Away. Thank you sir
I cry every time I hear this song. My late husband was a Vietnam Veteran and a wonderful man and PATRIOT who loved this country, God and family! God Bless our Veterans and the families of the ones who didn’t make it home ❤️🇺🇸🙏
when i left the army in 2013 after serving in both iraq an afghanistan ive been there in the last 9 years ived ended up homeless 4 times and each time ive done my best to bounce back this song has saved my life at least a few times.
This song is the reason that every time I see a homeless person I give what I have atm and ask them if they want to get something to eat and drink with me. It really opened my eyes. You never know what they went tru and why they are in that situation.
FFDP is the kind of band that one song will make you run 100 miles an hour and punch through bricks, while another will bring you to your knees in tears. Absolutely phenomenal band. Nice to see a reactor that gives appropriate respect to the song as well. Props my man.
At the end, the black dude is saying "Bill, Bill, it's me, Jacoby. You saved my life brother. Its o.k., its o.k." You must watch their "Gone Away"{survivors guilt} and "Coming Down" {bullying and teen suicide}
I've watched a few reaction videos to this song. This one is the only one that did a close up of the list of organizations to contact to give or receive help. Well done.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I think a lot people today aren't aware of this atrocity. Always take care of these men and women throwing down everything to keep us free! I salute all the men and women keeping us safe! Your work does not go unnoticed!!!
Thank you for reacting to this incredible song. I myself am a 20 year vet, retired. I was one of the fortunate ones that never had to go thru any of this but there are so many more that are going thru this and so many more that will go thru this. I tear up everytime I hear this song or watch this video. I love how 5FDP cares so much for our veterans. Keep on reacting, love your reactions.
You know, the saddest part is the fact that some homeless vets will actually go back into service just so that they can have a home, just so that they can feel like they have family. It's rough, believe me. My parents are splitting up, plus I'm in high school, so I feel you, brother. Although people say the world is full of opportunities, it's hell. People only care about themselves. Society is a big popularity contest. The real ones will stay above that. They're too good for that popularity contest. I encourage you to at least try and see the flaws in society and rise above them.
love that u showed the part at the end with all the numbers for help and love that five finger death punch even put this in there heartbreaking vid. greetings from germany... over here the most people laugh at our army. sometimes it feels like im the only one who honors them and says thank you if i see someone.
FFDD gets me evertime, closer everyday is talking about how hard the struggle is and constant thoughts of suicide. I've got lots of experience dealing with it
Beautiful reaction... I rock out to this in my jeep but every time i watch this video and Gone away i cry... I have people thank me all the time for my service, i thank them and say "I'd do it all again" I am not a hero but i knew a few (good friends) and i share a shot to the heavens in memory of them every memorial day, I did 20+ years, i am part of the statistic of being divorced and being homeless... again i say.. I'd do it all again!!! I'm lucky that i got help and now have a great job (lots of vets) a wonderful loving woman and a place to call my own... Again...Thank you for the heart felt reaction and sharing a tear with me..... New Sub.. Mad love from Chattanooga Tn
Gosh... in bits watching this...God bless you for putting this out there...and God bless and thank you to every single person who served or is serving.... I hope 🙏 for a better tomorrow x
This video is about nine years old. The statistics in it, they are 5 times higher now. I am a disabled veteran myself, and I cried watching this video, knowing there are brothers and sisters in these situations.
“You saved my life brother” gets me every time I watch this music video
For me its when the Cop and the Veteran have the same tattoo.
For me it's that chilling statistic at the very end. To know that a fellow vets life ended while I was watching it sends chills down my spine.
The "you saved my life" gets me, just like Hurt by Johnny Cash, I lose it about halfway through. Can't watch the clip at all without losing it
me also.

Same here. I'm a civilian but have the utmost respect for our country's warriors. Thank you for your service.
Thank you for your service, sir.

Me too... and I'm 66 years old.
At the end he mouths “you saved my life brother” makes me cry every time.
My father is a Vietnam Veteran. He is special forces green beret. To every soldier and veteran thank you so much for your service. And to all the Vietnam Veterans “welcome home”.
"Always remember a fallen soldier" -Sabaton
( Remember those who are alive ) Five Finger death Punch
"How many wasted lives, how many dreams did fade away
Broken promises, they won't be coming home"
While many die overseas, many of those who make it back still aren't home. Their sanity and their minds were destroyed for wars led by war profiteers.
Always remember, Fathers and Sons at war
I didn't serve myself, but everytime I see this clip there's a big lump in my throat. I have a deep appreciation for those who served, gave their life or are still at places I surely don't want to be.
And your heart felt message. Is why we do what we do!
My nephew was currently in the military. Sadly he took his own life last month. It hurts to watch this video even more now.
I'm so sorry, brother. I wish he could have gotten the help he needed, before he felt his own hell caused him to take his own life...hearing that a brother lost his battle, hurts. Sincerely, you have my condolences...
Thank you. It means a lot.
My condolences, brother. It hurts to hear that one of our own lost his personal battle.
He fought for others but others sadly didn’t fight for him. I’m so sorry
This one gets me every time...
pro? maybe "about"?
@@toddbollinger3902 Every. Single. Time. Retired 22 year Army veteran. Cry every time I see this!
@@oldsoldier4u814 I hear ya, me too.
My wife served during the Vietnam war. This video was one of the few times I saw her cry.
Some songs need no words. This is one of them.
Watching a few more times will help understand the video. everyone is a piece of true life!🙏
47 year old Vet here. Don't sweat tearing up. This song does it to me every time.
Me at 3:34 "he's fucked, the end will shatter him"
52 year old dude here and this video brings me to tears evry fucking time. Thank you to all who have served.
Best regards from Croatia my man 🤘
5:47 when you said you had to collect myself...my first thought was "you ain't seen nothing yet brother". This one is hard to watch
You're not alone. I watch this over and over, to remind myself, not to forget to cry. Serious problems. SERIOUS respect!
Respect!😅
Yeah, I get those ninja's cutting onions every time I watch this video. Salute to all my brothers-in-arms...
as a disabled Veteran who has been homeless and battle hardcore drug addiction in the past this song always hits me really hard. good video. it earned you a new sub
FFDP is an incredible band with great songs. I have no words to express how awesome it is that they use their platform to share such a message. God bless our veterans.
I have watch 100's of time... Bring tear to my Soul. Everytime!
Mr Rock & Roll, rears show that you are Real... Thank you Vets🐎
The little girl scene hits me in the feels the most in this video. My world would end if I couldn't see my daughter.
yeah this one hits deep lyrically imagine someone who actually came through it
thanks for this heath for this one i kept having chills upon chills i know this song for years but the video gets me every time wow
they also made an acoustic version of this song more recently...yeah...its rough
My grandfather ws in ww2, hes still here thankfully, each time i see a veteran or generally someone within army or navy or anything like that i stop ehay i am doing, walk up too them, shake their hand and thank them for putting their life on the line for our country
No matter how many times I watch and listen to this song, I cry. These vets deserve 100% of our respect and help.
my polar bear friend, in these videos if you feel like crying (which is normal), cry.
This video always hit you in the feelers. I think even non metal fans will respect this band.
For years, I do alot of volunteer work weekly with veterans of all different wars so this video has made me tears up every, single, time I watch it! Please support our Veterans in any way you can. Prayers, donations, volunteer or just shake their hand and say thank you. They deserve so much more!!
As a vet this song makes me cry every time.
“Gone Away” - FFDP is a must! That and “Coming Down”.
Thank you for your service ❤
When you paused the first time I was just sitting like bro you have not yet begun to feel
one of the best and emotional reaction ever :(
This song is the reason that every time I see a homeless person I give what I have atm and ask them if they want to get something to eat and drink with me.
Thanks for your reaction. I WISH EVERYONE COULD SEE THIS VIDEO. Thank you for your support.
My husband was a Vietnam vet, had PTSD, I supported him until his death in 2017 from agent orange, I miss him
No shame in tears my friend, show you got a huge heart.
Awesome band and an awesome song
Thank you for your service
Thank you for this one, it's a killer song
At the end, the black dude is saying "Bill, Bill, it's me, Jacoby. You saved my life brother. Its o.k., its o.k." You must watch their "Gone Away"{survivors guilt} and "Coming Down" {bullying and teen suicide}
YOUR TEARS TO THIS SONG LETS ME AND EVERY ONE KNOW THEIR SACRIFICED FOR THIS COUNTRY DIDN'T GO UNNOTICED!
I've watched a few reaction videos to this song. This one is the only one that did a close up of the list of organizations to contact to give or receive help. Well done.
I know, I have a soft spot in my heart for veterans too, especially World War II and Viet Nam guys. I miss that war by 8 months; thank you God.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I think a lot people today aren't aware of this atrocity. Always take care of these men and women throwing down everything to keep us free! I salute all the men and women keeping us safe! Your work does not go unnoticed!!!
One of my favorite songs. Great choice for memorial day
I'm a British army veteran and i really appreciate the importance of this video being shown. Your a true inspiration. Thank you.
I watch as many reactions to this as I can. It is always humbling to see the energy people go into it with and are crying by the end.
One of the most respectful reactions to this song. As a vet, thank you for doing this reaction and for respecting the message.
I'm living in Australia and Military isn't as big here as it is in America but this still hits me every time.
The lack of pausing and lack of response is enough said and every time I hear this song
I've got lots of experience dealing with it
It’s not a bad thing when this video makes you cry. Shows you truly care! I’m crying right along with ya brother🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Much Respect man
Now THAT is what a reaction video is all about...
Thank you for showing people what it's supposed to be...
That is very very deep and powerful song. At a quick glance I thought you were Sonny from Seal Team
I have yet to see anyone react to this song and not make man water leak from their eyes. Very powerful song!
Gosh... in bits watching this...God bless you for putting this out there...and God bless and thank you to every single person who served or is serving.... I hope 🙏 for a better tomorrow x
Dude, I’ve been through a dozen or so “reactionists” and you, my friend, are the best!! We share a kinship my brother! OOH RAHH🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for this I'm from the UK lost a good buddy out in Iraq this song does me everytime
That hits home with me to, my husband was a navy seal in Vietnam, he came with PTSD
Died of lung cancer from agent orange, in 2017.
its a powerful song this one and i hope it has opened a heap off peoples eyes.
This video is about nine years old. The statistics in it, they are 5 times higher now. I am a disabled veteran myself, and I cried watching this video, knowing there are brothers and sisters in these situations.
