I hope this video is an eye opener for so many Italian Americans (my people) to realize that they once were "the foriengers" with criminal stereotypes despite the fact that soooo many were family men and hard workers and it took decades to try to change that. They went through what so many Mexican Americans feel they are going through now. We need to find similarities, not differences.

I would really love for certain minorities to watch this and realize that it wasn't even until 1986 that an Italian-American was appointed to a position of white collared power. That's how slow it takes for this country to accept "others." There was also systemic oppression against specifically Italian-americans. There was thought that they would never be able to take a position like that and it was almost impossible just like people thought it was impossible that this country would ever see an African American president but Obama did it.
