Tuomas grew up loving this comic book character. He found it a huge honor to be able to compose this beautiful project. Very small parts layered in wonderful ways to create a soundscape of wonder. Johanna's ( Johanna Kurkela is married to Tuomas) voice is like a wood nymph or fairy. It is so delicate and soft. Don Rosa (writer and illustrator known for his Disney comics stories about Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck) was a bit bemused when some long haired guy walks up at a signing (Ducks in general and the Disney Ducks in particular are VERY popular in Finland) and tells him he is going to write songs about his Scrooge comics. Later he got a message that Tuomas was done, and was heading to London to record, and Don got the preliminary tracks, and was worried, then played them, Said by the second song, he was in tears at the beauty of the thing. I feel like Tuomas would explode if he didn't compose a note or something, every day. He wrote full fledged symphonic album about Scrooge when he had "writer's block" for Nightwish (his words), which is just ridiculous. He is one of those people who are in music business for music and if he is rich because of it, fully deserved.

How I would interpret these lyrics is that we are all seekers of riches: the richness of soul that comes through life experiences and stays with us in the precious memories.

You seem to appreciate Tuomas's composition, so you are ready to listen to his symphony "All the works of nature which adorn the world" from side B of Nightwish album Human :II: Nature. It's mainly classical music, but with that you can tell that he belongs to the same group with Beethoven, Vivaldi, Mozart, Tshaikovski and others from that genre. Make sure that you watch the great fan made/Nightwish approved music video, it's a part of the experience.

Rosebud was the name of the sled in the classic film Citizen Kane and represents happy memories of childhood - totally fits this song! It's a great track, awesome reaction.
It's all about the journey. Rosebud was the last word that Kane (from the movie Citizen Kane) said on his deathbed. It relates to Kane’s last moments of childhood innocence and happiness and was the name of his sled. 😊🤘

Don Rosa's stories about the life of Uncle Scrooge have always been among my favorite comics (I'm European, superhero comics aren't really my thing ^^) Together with the legend Carl Barks, Don Rosa is probably one of the most important cartoonists around the Ducks. When I realized that one of my favorite composers/musicians was virtually setting these books to music ... I almost cried with joy. In the realization you notice at every nuance how much Tuomas loves just this story cycle, it just fits everything.
I (re)listened to this album earlier today! This song often makes me cry, but it's one of those where I couldn't tell you why. Perhaps it's just a reaction to the sheer beauty of the music? I think all your questions have been answered already. If you've not heard any Auri yet I recommend it - they are Tuomas, his wife Johanna, and Troy (Kai has also contributed). Maybe _Desert_ _Flower,_ _The_ _Space_ _Between,_ or _Pearl_ _Diving?_

I highly recommed you watch "HOLOPAINEN AND ROSA INTERVIEWED BY RADIO NOVA" It's, for some reason, uploaded in 4 parts, all very short, 1 to 3 minutes. Parts 1&2 are interesting and funny. About how they first met and how it took Tuomas 15 years from the initial idea to make the album come true and Don Rosa's doubts about this symphonic metal composer, Tuomas. Aterbthe album was published Tuomas and Don Rosa also had a signing event together in Finland. It lasted 7,5 hours. Lots of CD's and books were sold.

One time in an interview he said he felt he couldn't do that because fans had told him his music had saved them in various ways. That's a measure of the man. Not many popular musicians would take that into account
I get very strong Mike Oldfield vibes from this one, from Johanna's voice to (especially the end of) the guitar solo. I know that Troy (in Nightwish/Auri) consider Oldfield to be an important influence, but I can't recall if Tuomas has mentioned him. Great song, one of my favourites among Tuomas' solo and side projects!
