    Thanks for putting this video together and making it so easy to understand. If only I had you as my electronics instructor in highschool I would have learned more back then.

      Ha! I took my first electronics class in my freshman year of HS (1982) and I'm still having moments of, "oh, so THAT'S what that meant..."

    Your videos are the perfect level of tech and usability. Anyone can follow along and still interesting and useful for more knowledgable folks. Keep up the great work!

      Thank you for saying so! I'm hoping to not overwhelm people with technical stuff, but sometimes the tech is unavoidable. I try to give only as much as is needed.

    I've worked with LED's in my haunt for years and am math-challenged and have defaulted to using pre-wired or pre-paired led/resistor bundles - thank you for explaining this so simply! (I also didn't know about the flat side of the lens!)

    Great video Dave! Your explanation on ohms law and how to determine the correct resistor was easy to understand!

    Thank you for explaining how to 'drop the voltage' from a power source. I was reading how to do this and my head started to hurt.... If I wanted to run a few leds in a row after I determine what size resistor I need for them, do they all need a resistor or just one between the power source and the leds?

      The best way to run several LEDs from one power supply is to run them in a parallel circuit with a resistor on each individual LED. I explain this in my "MORE About LEDs" video.

      @TombstoneTech I found that video right after I sent my question. Thanks for making me feel not so dumb with the explanations!! 30 seconds into other videos I feel like was dropped into an advanced Russian language class...... the words don't make sense.

    Can you refer me to where you purchased your leds and resistors! I enjoy all your videos and always look foward to learning new things from you my friend . Oh and can these leds be used for laser pointer as in one of your other videos on how to make for low laying fog
    Thanks from
    Steve from indiana

      The LED assortment in that video was something I ordered from Amazon. That's probably the easiest thing to do, but there are other sources you can Google like All Electronics, Electronic Goldmine, and SuperBrightLEDs.com. if you're doing the spotlight, make sure you use the high brightness LEDs. I'm not sure what you mean about a laser pointer - that's a completely different thing from LEDs. In the fog machine video, I used a Christmas decorating projector called a Star Shower (or something like that) to create the "tunnel" effect.
      Thanks for the comments and for watching!

    Been watching a lot of Halloween maker channels lately and stumbled across yours. So good! Thanks for all the tips. Would it be possible to have more than one led on a 12V power supply?

    • @TombstoneTech
      @TombstoneTech  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for commenting. It is possible to have more than one - I just wanted to cover the basic principle. You can add as many LEDs as the power supply will support. If the power supply is rated at 1,000 milliamps ( or 1 amp), it could power up to 500 2mA LEDs, assuming each LED has its own resistor and they are connected in a parallel circuit.
      I plan to cover this in an "Advanced LEDs" episode soon, but thanks for bringing it up - it lets me know people will be interested.
      Thanks again!
