FUN FACT: This game actually used to scare me as a kid. This was my second Cabela's hunting title, the first being Cabela's African Safari. In that game, you have a third-person view rather than a first-person. So upon playing this game for the first time, I was confused at first until I realized the game's in first-person. The first-person view aspect of the game kind of made the experience more real for me. Also, this game has no music to indicate you're being attacked by an animal. So I had no warning when I was in danger. And lastly, this game doesn't have a compass/radar thingy to tell you where the animals are, unlike Cabela's African Safari. So every time I thought something bad was gonna happen, I literally just quit the game. Reply if you felt the same way playing this!
Over-Hand Shuffle I miss this game so much. I remember being little and playing it with my dad while he was buzzed 😂 we were going for a bear in the game and we've never seen this before but the moose killed the bear.
Yeah, that's happened sometimes to me as well. Sometimes the wolves kill the bear too. Which by the way, if you pay attention to the part where I'm on the opposite side of the river, like around 5:36, you can see the bear being attacked by the wolf as he jumps back after being hit. This was a really fun game! As scary as it was for me, it was also very fun as well! Thanks for watching!
Over-Hand Shuffle this game really scared me. I eventually got over it though and when I was around 12(?) I made it my goal to knife every hostile animal with a *5 inch* blade. I just had to run up to rhinos and go around and stab, run around, repeat. It took a while, but it was fun. But before I had courage to play the game, my mom’s ex-boyfriend played it and I watched him. But when a bear or something would come to attack I’d run in the bathroom. I never had nightmares though lol.
I remember playing this game for hours and hours on PS2 during rainy days. It's still a great game, and quite frankly had amazing graphics for a game released in 2003.
Same! I remember playing this for hours on rainy afternoons after school. I absolutely loved walking through all the beautiful maps and explore them, especially the autumn ones. And even now it's still a pretty good hunting sim. It actually taught me quite a bit of English and wildlife!
i played this on an xbox demo disc back in the day and its the only hunting game i fell in love with. the atmosphere, the graphics, the sounds. its great.
I remember my uncle getting me the game and showing me how it was done. I was around 6 at the time and boy did this game scare me. When the bear came running at me I literally dropped the controller, ran to my room, and hid under the cover. Good nostalgic times.
I always used to love that little weasel thing in the beginning, always curious about it, then listening to the soothing guitar right there with the scenery and that cat, then getting into the game and seeing the wind doppler spinning. I also love the bullet camera on there. 2009 tried recreating that and if they had it would've been an awesome game but the graphics on this, the nostalgia of the weapons and the fact that you can see all the animals as a bullet zips past them in slowmotion. My favorite thing was to use a bow and arrow to do it. And lastly, the mission you started on with the bear I always remember following that road while looking for it and two wolves would run up on ya. I always saw a tunnel
The sounds of the wilderness and footsteps from the game bring me back so much memories of my dad playing this growing up. Use to scare me but I didn’t enjoy watching my old man play.
Maaaaaan i LOVED this game as a kid. I played much different than you are here lol I brought equipment and slowly stalked prey through the map. God its crazy how much better it looked in my memories hahaha. I would still play it today tho if I didn't give my OG Xbox away a couple years ago.
This is the best hunting game up to date yeah thats right even better than the newest trash that is put out nothing will ever beat this game when it comes to hunting games who is with me?
I remember my first time getting attacked by an animal in this game (it was probably a Kodiak bear or a wolf). It scared me so bad that I almost turned inside out lol.
I love playing the first Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts game! What could’ve made the game better is more animals to hunt (like African lion, ostrich, musk ox, American bison, javelina, Thompson’s gazelle, wolverine, bobcat, Canada lynx, caracal, baboon, warthog, hippo, African bush elephant, giraffe, blue wildebeest, American alligator, and Nile crocodile), more weapons (like a large Bowie knife, a Thompson Center Arms Encore pistol, a 22 LR Ruger pistol, a Marlin Model 1895SBL 45-70 lever-action rifle, a .416 Rigby bolt action elephant rifle, a powerful semi automatic rifle with a magazine, a 12 gauge semi automatic shotgun, and a 12 gauge double barrel shotgun), and more hunting areas and more hunting regions (like Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Florida, Texas, Nunavut, Kenya, and South Africa).
Even though this playthrough is 3 years old, its still an absolutely great one. Though, I am curious if this was done on with a capture card or an emulation? The quality is top-notch compared to most others from the looks of it. Either way, incredible work and dedication to this through and through!
It was actually recorded with a capture card. I was using an AV to HDMI converter box where you plug in the red, white and yellow cables in one end and plug in an HDMI cable in the other and it raises the picture quality a little. It's not the absolute best quality, but, it's certainly better than just recording in 480p.

That bear was unbeatable to 4 year old me in 2009
I love this game and have very fond memories. My friend and I used to get blazed out of our minds and play this game for hours on end. Good times.

So much nostalgia in these old Cabelas games, so many memories with my dad and siblings/step-siblings.

I remember this game. Wish I could buy it again so I can experience the thrills once again
You don't know true fear till you've played this game.
I had fear when the animals started running towards me and growling at me! Jesus Christ!
And animals even do so in real life just like we do!
