    As a former flight attendant with Lufthansa German Airlines, I can say this is the best passenger briefing video I have ever seen. Purely Hawaiian local touch.
    Always happy landings!

    All of the islands of Hawaii are just beautiful and the scenery is just gorgeous. I can't wait to visit there in the winter.

    Now that's an ad I don't mind watching. What a beautiful place. I went there over 30 years ago, now after seeing this I really have to go back. We get ads all the time to go to different places around the world, rarely do they have anything for Hawaii, they need more publicity, truly stunning place.

    • @biggiekay
      @biggiekay 8 лет назад

      +J Cee No, we don't need more advertising. There is way too many tourists here now; the Hawai'i you saw 30 years ago is a lot different now. Tourists out number locals 6:1, but with the amount of new condos opening up every few months, more of them are moving here and making life a lot more expensive to live here now. But I do appreciate people visiting to experience our culture to learn about our life, but not to make it their own. ^_^

      +Kaipo Tam Totally understand your concern about the change. However, as a law abiding, tax paying, US citizen, one can choose to move and live and experience and of course respect and appreciate any state within the 50 states and 5 territories. In the same way as people moved to California, and participated in developing technologies like this You Tube portal, the search engine Google, and the software and hardware that allows for you to communicate your concerns and for us to assure you that we are aware and respectful but decisions are ours to make.

    • @biggiekay
      @biggiekay 8 лет назад

      +50 States Indivisible Mahalo for your well written response. But a lot of things have changed here, socially, over the 30 years. And yes, you are correct that as an American city, you have the right to move to any state to enjoy and respect, but the Native Hawaiian population and the local, born-and-raised Hawaiʻi citizens are in a bit of unrest and unhappy with the way our government is giving too much to tourism and not enough care to local concerns. I really invite you to visit and see for yourself. I am only 29 years old and grew up in Downtown Honolulu and paradise is no longer paradise. I am coming from a calm point-of-view and just want to share how all locals here feel.

    • @50statesindivisible65
      @50statesindivisible65 8 лет назад

      Agreed. And it is an issue people have in other states as well (Oregon, North Dakota) that see a influx of people that have more money and seem to command space and time. Hopefully, there is a selective process (cost, housing) that will limit the influx. And also, on that token, some local Hawaiians can take advantage of the cheaper housing and career opportunities that exist in places like Las Vegas (I have seen many Hawaiians living and working there and I hope they can save up enough to retire in the islands). Change comes to all, sadly. Thank you for the subtle comments and for providing insight to the view point of the resident community.

    • @biggiekay
      @biggiekay 8 лет назад

      +50 States Indivisible Yeah, I can only imagine places like New York, Orlando, and LA that used to be home to many native tribes and now they are kicked out/reduced to small groups in their own home. And I do know people that leave Hawaiʻi for cheaper homes and cost of living, but the fact of the matter is that Hawaiʻi is where our ancestors of 1000 generations come from. Most of us still speak their language, some privileged few still live on the same soil their ancestors made home those centuries ago, but for me I can hula, chant, breathe, and stand on the life force that my ancestors fought for for so long. I am planning on moving away, but temporarily to improve my education and get a PhD to come back to give more mana to my people. So with that, I want to give you much mahalo for this delightful conversation and your understanding. It's good to hear non-locals have decent conversations and not fight us on issues that so many here do. ^_^

    Love flying on Hawaiian when I fly back home to Kauai. But in a way, partly out of nostalgia for the 70's, I wish Aloha Airlines didn't fold...they were great to fly between the islands. Until recently, all mainland flights went into Honolulu, whereupon you caught an inter-island flight to the individual islands...and that's where Aloha Airlines came in. Used to take either Aloha or Hawaiian, depending on the price and schedule.

    Just asking, why do the seats and footrests have to be stowed, and the tray table? And why do the blinds have to be open?

    • @JacobWay-White
      @JacobWay-White 5 лет назад

      Andy Huang it is because should there be a need to evacuate the aircraft, people will be able too move quicker. And as for the blinds being open, it’s so that you, the flight attendants, and firefighters will be able to see through the windows in an emergency

    The new Hawaiian Airlines Safety Video is. . .
    Boring. And not in the way that a traditional safety video is. Because it tries to be engaging by showing off the islands’ culture and the families of the crew. I like that. Except it really comes across as distracting and boring to me.
