    My pet peeve is when planners don’t update on how a spread worked out. A lot of them will put the blanket excuse that they want their privacy and ask it to be respected. It’s ok to not show it, but say “I was excited about this idea, but I just didn’t keep up with it.” Many planners will view that as a failure, but it’s you learning what works for you.

    I dislike the girl boss/planner babe/girltrepreneur stuff because it solidifies male as the default. It makes it so that people qualify the state of being a boss/entrepreneur because on their own they are either societally or inherently masculine labels, so it needs to be re-gendered to apply to people. It’s very binary icky for me lol

    Ok ladies, I know this is an old video but I just found it and have laughed so much!
    I'm in the UK so mercifully most of the planner Stuff like EC, HP etc isn't available over here, but here's my own pet peeves!
    Disc planners - don't understand how anyone tolerates the clatter.
    Vertical planners - how does anyone have space to write anything in them?
    Stickers... don't get me started.
    Die-cuts... what are they about?? They're just bits of paper with no function.
    Huge decorated paperclips - nope, damage to your expensive leather planner awaits.
    Vellum, dashboards etc - just use your dividers! Don't complain your planner is over-full when you have to flip through additional sheets of useless paper products just to get to your sections.
    And finally... highlighters. The clue is in the name. They are for highlighting! How can you use them for crossing things out? What is wrong with you people?? 🤣
    Ok, rant over. I'm English.... and old.... get over it! 😁

      I know I am really, really wading into controversial territory here, but I feel like there may be a fair amount of overlap between the etsy "boss babes" and MLM "entrepreneurs." In terms of a real, hard analysis on the return on investment for these people. To be fair it is sometimes really hard to see all of the questions if you get a lot of questions and notifications. IG only shows you your last 40 interactions in the app, so if you're getting hundreds a day it can get quite overwhelming. I only have 600 followers and I sometimes miss comments even though I try to respond to all of them. Also, people have lives, and especially shop owners are spending lots of time on their actual money-generating business and just physically can't respond to the hundreds/thousands of questions and comments that come in every hour. So I totally get it.

      Kitsura Blooms Like Mrs Planner Addict, I totally get it and understand that people have lives and can’t answer every question I really do but when I scroll back and see a particular person ask the same question and it gets answered it’s not right. I also have seen where shops or planners post an item that planners goes wild over only to leave them hanging with questions not answered. It’s like they post to get likes or whatever. I’m learning that it’s a lot of favoritism in this community and have learn to know when or who to comment to.

    Three things:
    1) I am seeing a big trend of whining about shipping on the different FB groups I am in. I don't know how people survived before the days of online tracking 😐 Heaven forbid your package stays at one facility for more than 24 hours!
    2) coming into a sticker shop's group and announcing "I have a full cart, is there a sale or a PR code I can use?" And not just a regular post, it's usually one of those big colorful ones to grab attention. It's very easy to search the group for codes or sales. To me it feels kind of rude, especially if the shop owner runs the group or is very active. "oh hey I want to buy a bunch of stuff from you, but ONLY if I can get it on sale."
    3) this one will get me some hate, but I am tired of seeing people pleading/demanding that shop owners make extremely specific stickers to suit their needs. If the shop previews stickers of 6 different dog breeds, you can count on 75 people coming out of the woodwork to tell the owner what breeds they "should" make because then it would match their dog, etc. There is a difference between adding things to the suggestion thread and TELLING shop owners what they "need to" or "should" come out with.

    • @NerdMomsLife
      @NerdMomsLife 5 лет назад +7

      That is where I disagree a little. I think it is fine to ask for specific designs... just be prepared to pay a bespoke price;). That isn't going to be a bargain bin sticker;). And that is not what is happening right now. People want to have bespoke service at a bulk price.

    • @donnamartinez6201
      @donnamartinez6201 5 лет назад +4

      @@NerdMomsLife I do agree; nothing wrong with suggesting and being willing to pay for customization. Many etsy shops I buy from will do custom stickers - for instance, I do not drink coffee; I'm a soda girl. I go through a couple of shops that actually provide coke can/bottle stickers for me. The cost is not much more and, since I may be the only person buying them, I totally understand the additional work and cost. :)

      On #1, there are more productive ways to work through your shipping issues than moaning about it on FB. I enjoyed this video a lot. Even though some of the things mentioned, I definitely do - it just comes off as a difference of opinion. The only thing in the planner community that stands out to me is the popular planners with larger followings that don’t disclose when something they’re ‘sharing’ has been given to them at a discount or for free. The planner community is so much about trends and purchasing. I think people need to honest when promoting for friends or brands because it may be filtering their review or opinions.

      Good point. I PR for a couple shops, granted it’s not at full price, it’s discounted sale. Is there a phrase you’d like to see regarding this? Genuinely inquiring. I know on RUclips there’s a phrase of some sort to make the person aware that they received it at a discounted price but the opinion is there own.

      @@Khanslady here is a blog post that explains the legal requirements: www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/ftcs-endorsement-guides-what-people-are-asking#ftcactapply

    One thing that kinda bugged me a lot recently was, not necessarily the actual choosing of one's word of the year, but all the "But is it okay if I do this...????" Or people asking "if it's okay" that they do their bullet journal a certain way, as if there are rules and if you break them, a sharp blade will come hurtling at your head? Like, for all the motivational quotes and stickers you see around the planner community about doing your thing and BE-YOU-TIFUL, people sure do feel a need to conform and seek approval for stuff that really should be personal and really affects only you. I just wanted to copy-paste "It's YOUR planner, do what works for YOU" on so many posts.

      I have to admit, I do go back to my planner and add things. It is usually in my work planner, bec I may need the information in the future and it's just handier knowing it's in my planner. I keep notes while working and don't always get to write everything in my planner at the time it's happening. For instance, going to meetings I usually take a note pad vs my planner, bec when I'm taking notes they're usually all over the place. When I go back to my planner, (which may not be on the same day of the meeting), I clean up my notes and just put in the pertinent information. I use this information for reference @ a later date. Does this count as back planning?

    • @ruths694
      @ruths694 5 лет назад +2

      @@donnamartinez6201 I reckon that's back-planning and very practical too. You give exactly the sort of explanation planner people want when watching RUclips videos about planning. The REASONING behind your planning/recording of information and how it works for you. For example you must have NOT done it and at some point realised how USEFUL noting past events/info would have been (eg what WAS that bulb I bought for the living room lamp last time? I wish I wrote it down...) and solved it by back-planning.

    • @donnamartinez6201
      @donnamartinez6201 5 лет назад

      @@ruths694 Thank you. It isn't practical for me to bring in my planner to meetings, bec there isn't enough room to write notes, (and I don't use filler paper for note-taking, but rather task lists.) A pad is smaller and since my notes are all over the place, no matter when I put them in my planner, it's a very much cleaned up version of my notes, re-written into a "task" oriented version. My weekly set-up is usually what I know is coming up and what needs to be done; then there are the tasks that come up while working - those go into my planner immediately. It's only those things that happen spontaneously and are jotted down on the run and taken care of in a "messy" disorganized way, yet I know I will have to go back to them. Things that are one and done do not go into my planner if they are not already there. If I don't need a "history" of the task, to move forward, it doesn't go into my planner. :)

      Thank you for sharing ladies. I should have clarified. I have nothing against back planning itself. As a journaler I totally understand and will back plan as well. I was specifically talking about Plan with Me Videos where people share the entire spread of their week with anything filled in and don't mention until the end or at all that what they filmed and shared was all back planning so the entire week already happened and they were documenting it. Again all for back planning just would really appreciate the disclaimer on videos

    Great video. I can’t stand it when a PWM video is released with only background music. Why someone would think not talking or recording a voiceover that helps the viewer to understand their planning and thought process is beyond me. Another pet peeve is planners who share their budgets and debt repayment strategy while decorating with full kits each time - I’m talking about the ones who continually go on and on (complain) about how much debt they’re in. Ok this is going to sound bitchy but I don't get the uber fans who hang on a planner creator's word ON EVERY SINGLE THING. I get that they made a great planner but to have goals to emulate a planner owner's life, ask where they got every outfit, ask non-planner advice on childrearing and home management, and basically live vicariously thru this person is just crazy to me. One planner creator is quite forthcoming about how she doesn't know everything, and I appreciate her honesty, but the way her uber fans glorify everything she does is beyond me. So I’ve been thinking about how to be more intentional with my stickers and I’ve come to realize that if you plan in a “vertical style” it’s hard to do that with full boxes. There are usually 8! You almost have to have a pattern or specific placement method in order to use what you have. When you plan as you do Cindy, i feel its easier to place stickers in a deliberate, meaningful way. I plan in an hourly, but I use it like a vertical, and I usually put my full
      Boxes at the top for decoration and then I use other stickers for my plans. I could see using them to denote large blocks of time, but I don’t always have a huge time consuming task every day, other than work. But, I use checklists for my work tasks, so a full box would not be functional there. So many variables! I did enjoy the conversation though.

Maybe I just got shocked by it when I first entered the community because all the BST groups I’m in for running clothes/gear have strict rules against markups or selling it for more than you bought it for (before shipping) and those tend to have a more positive/less cutthroat vibe than planner BSTs. Getting your money back is understandable, but the markups make me feel bad about the consumerism and greed in the planner community as a whole.

    Oh man... I did a video where I didn’t love a planner I had bought (bought with my money). I wasn’t awful I was critical but I learned how to critique a long time ago so I know how to find the positive or say how it could be better, all that. It’s been months and I still get fan comments on it... now I just shake my head.

    I love a good photo but the furry blankets and trinkets all over get to me. I’m also baffled by people who never show any writing in their planner spreads. Great colab video.

      Anita LeBeau Yesss the trinkets and 85 decorations in and on the planner make no sense to me. The planners must just sit on their desk looking pretty full-time because there’s no way you’re actually using the planner with all of those charms a die-cuts precariously placed throughout.

    YAS GIR L! I hATE "planner babe" "boss babe" "girl boss" and all those icky sounding labels that other planners seem to love. They make me cringe and want to gag. I would NEVER refer to myself as a "babe" because that just seems conceited and sexist at the same time.

      All of those and “planner/sticker addict.”
      I lost my brother to addiction. Making light of it isn’t ok. I won’t like a post if it uses “addict.”

    I just want to say, as a brand (it's my company and we're small, but still a brand) I LOVE getting tagged on Instagram. I want our people to do it EVERY TIME - it lets me then share those planner spreads or convention journals in my story and also see how people are using our stuff.
