I have definitely found myself somewhat mourning the loss of gaming as it once was, so it was really nice to hear your more positive perspective on it. Like you said, it's really easy to get lost in the endless garbage put out by big studios and forget about the incredible smaller games out there. As well as the occasional major hit from a big studio. I think the rose colored glasses we view our childhoods through contributes a lot to that feeling of loss, but some of the most impactful moments I've experienced in media as a whole have come from games that have come out in the last five years or so. I don't think anything will make me feel how I felt stepping into Hyrule field my first play through of Ocarina, but honestly, I think my memory of that moment has been enhanced more and more over time. My memory of the moment holds so much more meaning and emotion to me than the moment itself, if that makes sense. Rose colored glasses. There is so much beauty and creativity and love still out there in video games, you just need to know where to look. And have a lot of patience, I suppose lol.
This was a lovely video and gave me a lot to think about. Your passion is very clear :)

    I started gaming in 1998.
And became a professional developer because of it. I thought I lost the magic because of work-life pressure and so on. Now that I am 30.
However few AAA games like Elden Ring , Crusader Kings III (with fantasy mods), Baldur‘s gates II and Sparking Zero (split screen coop). Made me realise I was just wrong. It was the majority AAA games that lacks creativity. I am the same person with less free time.
    Outstanding video.

Between good AAA games, indies, old games, and even mods for old games, there’s too many good things about gaming to be upset.

Gaming is only bad if you make it bad for yourself.
