    Hello Ange. Once again your showing as it is, real life. We all have to start somewhere. We are all the same, nothing is perfect when we start out. The fun is in the learning and improving. Your experiment turned out beautifully. The yarn was gorgeous and finished gnome super cute. Thankyou for keeping it real.Ixx🌈🌷

    I find videos like this incredibly helpful and even empowering! You knit an adorable gnome from your “beginner” experiment, and it looks fantastic. It feels amazing to know that my yarn doesn’t have to be perfect to make something great like your little gnome!! Thank you for sharing it.
    I’m a spinning fiend! I’ve made bunches of yarn and even knit with it! I love spinning my own yarn, but I especially love knitting with it! Thank you for your help and for your lovely encouragement.

    You are keeping me company while I wait for my fourth flight this week. I’ve been to Orlando, Milwaukee back to Orlando and now have a very long wait to get back to Denver. Spent four days with my 90 year old father taking him to a funeral. Working on a half brioche stitch Birthday sweater by Ankestrick.

      I also love to make rolags on my hand cards, especially straight from the fleece, they are usually so fluffy and lovely, a totally different rolag to the ones from the blending board. I hope you have lots of fun experimenting with your carder Francine, I will look forward to hearing how you get on. I'm so happy to know that you enjoyed the video. Hope you are able to have a great day, woolly hugs to you xx

    Hi 👋. I have enjoyed very much. You are as always very talented.
    I haven’t touch my wheel in ages and keep saying i must give it another go. Watching you plying, you make it look soo relaxing. Against my stressful fight with the dam thing 🙈🙀🤣🤣🤣.

      Aww thank you Pip you are so kind to say that. I think for plying as with spinning it sometimes takes a minute to figure out what tension you need for take up on your wheel which can be a bit faffy but once you've got it right it should hopefully be smooth sailing from there. Hope you win your battle with the swing seat!! Sending woolly hugs to you xx

    I love how your experiment turned out, I loved seeing the differences in the two yarns and I love it when samples become something fun, rather than just sitting in a box. At the moment I'm loving using hand dyed fibres in my rolags, I enjoy dyeing up different fibres and breaking up the colours and blending them together in different ways. My favourite way is to add some silk and a pinch of sari silk and sparkle to make a subtle tweedy yarn, but I'm also playing with some self striping rolags, similar to yours for Tour de Fleece, as they are fun to spin on the Turkish spindles I have.

    • @YarnNYarns
      @YarnNYarns  2 года назад +1

      Thank you Jan, it is surprising isn't it how a few small choices and changes here and there can make a difference to the yarn. Oh wow it sounds like you have been having so much fun making different blends and playing with colour. I love that there are so many possibilities for us folks who love to work with fibre. Hope you enjoy your self striping spinning with your spindles, that sounds especially joyful to me :D

      @@YarnNYarns So far I am! I have about 7 of my 16 self striping rolags spun up, I may not have everything done by the end of Tour de Fleece, but I'm hoping to have most of my singles ready to ply by the end - I tend to spin very fine, so it takes a while!

    • @YarnNYarns

      I wouldn’t necessarily say it is easier. It’s a different style of spinning and some people find it hard to get started (especially if they have been using a drop spindle first) but I do have a video back on the channel about how to get started with support spindle spinning 😊

    How did you end up plying that third ball?

  • @freakygeak
    @freakygeak 2 года назад

    I tried using a comb/brush on a blending board and all it did was remove the fiber not push it down 😑 and I made sure when no fiber was there that the brush/comb not sure what to call it moved smoothly through the teeth on the board, I'll keep trying later on once prices go down again if they ever do 🤔🙂

    • @janatherton9194
      @janatherton9194 2 года назад

      The burnishing brush that comes with the Ashford board is designed to smooth the fibres down, if you are brushing using the brush handle end down and brushing from the top to the bottom of the board, when you brush upwards, or flip the burnishing brush upside down it will remove the fibres to clean them of the board. Was that what was happening to your fibre?

    • @YarnNYarns
      @YarnNYarns  2 года назад +1

      Sounds like Jan has shared some great tips for using your brush, so I hope that helps you. Also I've found that if I apply my fibre to the board in thinner layers the brush is more likely to pack them down rather than grab them and pull them off. Hope you continue to play and experiment and find a way that works for you. Good luck xx

    • @janatherton9194
      @janatherton9194 2 года назад +1

      @@YarnNYarns I agree thin layers of fibre and sandwich any add ins like Angelina, nepps, or sari silk in between any layers of wool, that way the fibres don't just get stuck in the tines of the board, or drop out when you spin the rolags and everything all drafts more easily together.

    • @michelesfibers
      @michelesfibers 10 месяцев назад

      I use a 4" wide paint brush to tamp down the fibers on my board. It is a very cheap chip brush and has short bristles. After it is tamped down I brush the fiber down the board to get the fuzzies trapped. Works really well.
