As a neutral foodie from Indonesia, I prefer Malaysian food than Singapore. I would say because it's more complex, more kick, and more spicy. Penang food is another extra level, better than KL.

This sums up everything we need for a short getaway. free & easy drive, impromptu stops to eat cendol & local food, the places you stayed at are so calming - complimented with awesome sceneries & fresh natural air, waking up to a stress-free & great breakfast after a good sleep, a good dip in the pool..
I think I can literally sit down and appreciate the view for hours, at your first stop. With coffee, please.
It has been a long time since my last trip up. I like to recommend you to try driving up on the east side - Kuantan, Kuala Terengganu and Kota Bahru. You will love it, as much as this trip..

stayed at the royal villa at banjaran hotspring retreat and it was an amazing experience. got told that they use really high class stuffs and most are imported, like even the outdoor sofa by the pool in the royal villa was 200k myr 💀
One of the reasons to be grateful as a Malaysian. Can enjoy good food, go on a trip for weekend gateway without passport/leaving the border.

Nasi padang usually serve malay minang dishes. Nasi kandar served mostly Malaysian Indian peranakan dishes.
Been to Banjaran before (when they were constructing the Grand Garden Villas)-it is amazing and my partner loved it too!
And yesss LC is the best ever! Every time I go to Penang, I have to make a stop at the original stall

As Malay Malaysia,I always travel around the world,the best food to me are Thailand (creative, delicious,clean) and Australia so delicious Amazing ...of course I love Malay food kampung lauk pauk...Singapore I love laksa and Mee rebus so nice and sedap near vivo city food court ..

What Australian food? You just proved yourself haven't traveled to many countries, and claiming 'always traveling around the world'. Have you ever been to Latin America /Southern America? or South/Western Africa? or Central Asian countries? If not, go travel some more, not just Australia, Asian or Western Europe. I don't want to bragging myself, I'm in my late 40s, used to live in 5 different countries included 2 in the Middles East and 3 European countries for 20 years, when I was in 20s and 30s used to backpacking to almost 98 countries until got married; and only taking easy travel with wife and sometimes kids also joining us. Yes ,Thai food is one of my favourites; but also Khmer, Peruvian and Uyghur. Yummy!

I think I know why MY food tastes better. - Cus their ingredients don't come with health labels or reduced taste. I visited MY a couple of months ago and found out that even their canned peanuts served at an eatery taste better than here in SG lol
