Manurewa Intermediate, 2021 Finalist, Focus Prize

A wide range of resources and activities form the sustainability programme at Manurewa Intermediate. Starting with a greenhouse built from recycled plastics, adding pigs to reduce food waste, the school now has chickens and is planning for goats.
Food technology classes use produce from the gardens and animals, while their Sustainable Enterprise classes, deepen learning for their tamariki with research, planning and business development.
Eco Councillors keep a focus on recycling around the school, which has recently won an Enviroschools Green-Gold Award.
