  • Josh Gates is a Portland artist who paints moody, rainy landscapes featuring some of the city's most iconic and least well-known landmarks. His goal is to show his love for Portland. While Gates’ work mostly focuses on Portland’s rainy scenery, sometimes he uses his art to explore and amplify social justice issues, like focusing with redlining within Portland's history.

Lydia: your whole presentation of who Josh Gates is and what he does is just fascinating. Are you thinking about using our largest room for this show? Seems like it would be worth the space. Victoria

I’m interested to know to what degree local folks buy art of their city.
