This was a go to daily back in the day on PS1 along with Final Fantasy 7, Twisted Metal, Metal Gear Solid, Duke Nukem A Time to Kill, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Cool Boarders 2
All of these tackles would be flagged in today’s NFL.

This is the NFL I grew up with. I often come back to this vid to remind me of the good ol’ days, back when defenses could play defense and QB’s rarely made it passed 35 years old. I miss those days 😪

This entire video is filled with flags in today’s game.

i miss the old days real nfl football where you may get your head taken off going over the middle of the field and actual good fun nfl video games. i rocked gameday 98' / 99'/ 00' hard back in the day. i remember getting it for x-mas and i'd cut the tape on the wrapping paper sneak the game disc out and re tape the game box and put it back under the tree. i was very cunning lol

I confess that I have...an odd fascination with football, I'm not so much of a "fan" (in a die hard sports viewer sense.)
But for some reason; I love the music, the tackles, the adrenaline of watching the players run, the halftime shows, the music (such as this game's theme) and of course, the stadium food. For me, though; Blood Bowl (the Warhammer 40K version of football) is what I think the sport should really be like

Nearly all these hits would be legal today, too. They are nearly all perfect form tackles. The hits that WEREN'T legal were the ones that have a high risk of paralyzing both players.
