Beware When Purchasing Resin Molds

  • Hello my dragonfly friends,
    This video is just to share what happened to me when I purchased some resin molds off of Etsy. I feel I was not treated well after I received defective molds. However, I will not state what shop it was because I don’t want to stoop to that level. I hope my story helps others be more cautious but also to not be afraid to speak up when you get bad products, customer service or get harassed by someone.

    Score Michelle. So sorry you had a 💩experience through an Etsy shop. Seriously, Etsy should be notified. Not to stir the pot but to let them know. Love your work.

    This company sounds like they need to work on their customer service. Crazy they tried to get you to use the other 2 so they didn’t have to replace. And I agree, you shouldn’t have to add a top coat to fix their mistake.

      Thank you Augie, yes definitely need to work on their customer service. I kept all the messages they sent me, just encase they come back at me. But the molds are still good enough to practice in.😀

    Good for you to bring it to their attention. The fact they reacted as they shows they are true artists or professionals. I am so sorry you had to go through with this. Too bad you won’t share their shop name so Jonnie else has to go through this, but I understand you’re taking the high road. Thank you! 💐

      Thank you for watching Kathy. I had thought about stating who it was, they have a RUclips channel as well but my real goal isn’t to get into a nasty situation with them. They have shown their true colors. I just want to help others know what to look for and understand what good molds for resin are. Hopefully this will help.💜

    I am so soooo sooooooo proud of you for standing up & putting a negative review on their page &that is disgusting on their behalf for trying to blame you, when you said they said that “you probably used the wrong resin” I actually laughed, because it’s a silicone mold & you can put ANY type of resin in it, you can actually put cement in them & even chocolate will set in them, so for them to say you used the “wrong” resin is sooooo wrong & to me that tells me that they have no clue at all & shouldn’t be allowed to make & sell silicone molds. If I was you after they got sort of aggressive towards you I would of totally named & shamed them. But you should totally put this video in their feedback, so everyone that’s about to order from them can watch this video first

    Eventually it will come back and bite them Michelle! They can’t get away with bad customer service and bad workmanship for too long. Karma will get them ❤ you’re a good sport and honest. Their loss of a good customer ❤️

    I've had a similar issue except I made my purchase through eBay. Mine didn't have any blemishes, mine had a very concaved bottom. It was so bad that my coasters came out with a very convexed surface that no glass or cup could sit on. I reached out to the seller and was referred to the handmade and slight imperfections part of the listing. I wouldn't call a concaved bottom a slight imperfection. Especially since anything I poured in the mold couldn't be used.
    I didn't get harassed, though. I just got completely ghosted.
    I've been at some coaster molds on Etsy. Now I'm going to have to scour all of their reviews.

      I am so sorry you had to deal with that too. It’s awful when you don’t get respect from the seller. I wonder if it’s the same place? The Etsy seller is also selling on EBay. It’s a shame. Thank you for sharing your experience as well. I hope you find better molds in the future.🌸

    This is so sad to hear. It’s really appalling that the company would blame you for the marks in the molds. I mean it is awful that they would send you marked up molds in the first place.

      Thank you Kelly, it has been a bad experience. I even tried using the “Etsy Guarantee” to get help and they of course didn’t help. So much for customer service. I learned a great lesson.

    Thanks for sharing this observation, faulty molds are terrible as they waste your resin and creative efforts. That company should have replaced those molds!

    Shocking, all three should be blemish free and fit for use! I inly wish you had contacted Etsy so they would have to step their game up and not be allowed to get away with such terrible customer service.

    Sad that customer care are just for show, companies should practice healthy ways to correct their mistakes. Earlier there used to be guarantees,where defective products were replaced,then came warranties and guarantee disappeared somewhere. And if we ask for value for money,we are wrong,how sad.Michelle,don't worry and thank you for sharing this 💜

    Wow! 😮 there are imperfections and then there are outright flaws. The company should be sending you new ones with no further questions. That right there means it’s not a great company. I’m sorry you had such a horrible experience! Shame on them.

    Im sorry youve had.to.be.forced to accept that treatment.. But for me I stop trusting reviews and when I began my research I looked for complaints about companies. Esty, amazon and others know that the reviews are paid for or even cut and pasted. Thank you for sharing.

    Poor quality is poor quality. A good manufacturer of goods not matter what size the company should be concerned about the quality of their goods. There are consequences for poor choices, that’s on them.

    I have gotten other molds from them most are just as bad ! They will always give you the run around ! They should have sent you new ones or given you’re money back

    I'm confused. What does the resin type have to do with a defective mold? What a foolish statement from them! If the mold is defective it won't matter what type of resin you use, that defection will still show up. Thanks for the reminder of "buyer beware!"

    And they say not to buy cheap Chinese molds...😖. My sister bought three very expensive molds from Etsy. Two were ok. The third...😮! It was "replaced." Not with anything I could use any better. Since then, I have just decided to avoid Etsy all together. That this "company" didn't ask for the return and immediately refund your

      Many sellers on etsy are Chinese sellers selling cheap tat and knock offs... or drop shippers selling the same stuff. Both at inflated prices. Unfortunately

      Yeah, it wasn’t a good shop obviously. They are USA sellers but obviously that didn’t matter in this case.

      But finding out which...Etsy used to have integrity. It was originally for hand-made items. Now? It's better just to go to Temu. Or do molds yourself. Etsy has changed so much that integrity is a lost cause. I just quit Etsy...both selling and buying. (And my puppy decided to post the other for me before I had finished.🥴)
