Thanks for the great video. I first started going as a young girl the early 50s. It was a different Toronto back then when young children were able to travel the TTC on their own to visit the Ex. (Maybe we were just naive but it seemed safer then. ) The free samples were aplenty and amazing. Besides bags holding candies and bubble gum you also had food samples to fill up on. Those were exciting times for young children with all the rides too. My husband and I try to get there each year and each August I start checking the weather forecast hoping for sunny weather and no rain. Unfortunately the weatherman isn’t always kind to the Ex. It’s a great tradition and I hope it is around for many more years!
Thank you so much for sharing your incredible memories with us us❤ Amazing to think kiddos could ride the TTC unattended and enjoy the CNE. I wish they would bring those free samples back. Thanks again, i hope you're able to enjoy the CNE again this year.
Love this! I remember being a kid and my nanny and auntie would get us tickets and go play bingo...we'd be allowed to go on our own to a couple of rides!! The exhilaration of being independant in such a crazy place! So fun!! xoxo
I haven’t been to the CNE in over 20 years. When I was the kid back in the 70s when dozen tiny Tom donuts were $1.75. How much are one dozen tiny donuts nowadays? I remember back in the day the only air-conditioned spot in the food building was the Primo booth. The Primo booth served spaghetti and meatballs, and if you bought anything from them, you could eat your food in their air condition area. Thanks for the video guys. It really brought back all the memories of the CNE.
Oh wow thank you for sharing your memories ❤ They did have the primo booth, i'll have to remember to check them out next year! Tiny Toms is still incredible❤ Thanks for the view and sharing your memories!
Thanks guys, I haven’t been to the CNE in sooooo many years, this was fun to watch and remember our (my sisters, a cousin and sometimes a friend) trips there. All of us taking a bus down to the city just for the CNE! By the way thank you Gloria for taking us all.
We (my brother and I) took out $50 from an ATM near home before going to the ex last Tuesday. We were hungry. First thing I had at the food building was a Grilled Sausage On A Bun-$7.95 (with bottled Coke-$11.95 + tax) from PRIMO stand around $13.50. My Brother had a Peameal Bacon On A Bun for $8.95 + tax. We then shared a ½-Smoked Meat Sandwich On Rye With 2 Steamies (hot dogs) for $14. Next we had 2 slices of Pizza (deluxe) from PIZZA NOVA for $6 & change each. We then ended our tour with another trip to PRIMO for one more Sausage On A Bun each. Let's just say we needed to use debit. Really expensive for regular food.
Guys, you two are the cutest! don't think I would watch any content with CNE if you were not there, the CNE is busy, expensive and loud, but nonetheless it is a Toronto cultural event from the past. We frequented the CNE with conviction back in the 70's don't hear any of the great music we had there now. There was a bandshell with great live music acts. I ESPECIALLY like the egg sandwich that is looking delicious and easy on the stomach for sure! Not one Canadian flag out there either, disappointing... gottal shout out to Canada.
Greetings from oakville Ontario the last I went to the exhibition was 10 years ago and I'm 6'4 & a very good friend knows I don't like rides that make me dizzy and it happened the scrambler it was called I felt drunk after without the alcohol 😮
Hopefully, weather permitting, i'll go down on Labor Day for the airshow. I'll be grabbing as many shots as possible. Its been too long for me. My kids still needed a wagon to travel around in when we last went. And the ice cream sandwich was only $0.50 for the day to commemorate their 50th year of operation at the CNE.
I wanted to so badly! They weren't actually open yet. Did you have it? Was it amazing? I loved that guy when he was on "Recipe to Riches" and then they released a frozen version of his dish for a while under the Pc label. I was incredibly invested in this and just didn't get a chance to try.
Prices are way too high for food. 15 dollars for a hotdog is ridiculous, doesn’t matter if you can afford it or not but this is predatory pricing. I hope business goes down and there is a reset in prices next year.
Everyday at CNE is perfect everytime. Love it

You did a great job showing everything around the Ex!
Was hoping for nice, sunny weather for the opening CNE weekend. Oh well. Nice video, Darcie rules, and keep it up. Cheers.
I like wearing my baseball caps backwards too, 😂 Great video as always, glad you went with Egg Club - they are so good!

You guys will have to check it out one year. We'd love to hear how it stacks up against State fairs.❤

Those rides are wild! I dont blame you for feeling a bit tipsy afterwards 😂
Thanks for the view❤

Thanks for sharing! I wish the ice cream sandwiches were still .50 cents lol.
Enjoy Labor Day at the CNE, the air show should be amazing
Noooooooo!!!!!
This means that summer is coming to an end.
I know 😥 I think we're going to have to go down to Florida to keep the sunshine going!
I know! I had the same reaction but with summer ending we get a lot of incredible fairs if that helps.
Exactly the same every year. The only thing that changes are the prices. Holy crap the Ex is crazy expensive.
So expensive 😢 but i want to go and eat the food
haha, oh, we definitely get that dilemma 😂 thanks for the comment!
You should have tried the deep fried lasagna :D :D

@@TorontoOurCityDarcie yeah we did try it, it was delish
so CNE all about junk food?
