I just received a Q5 barebones yesterday, building it out with Zeal tactile switches and stabilizers, as well as some doubleshot GMK-clone keycaps. It's heavy enough to use as a weapon if the need arises.
Hey man, Thanks for the review. I am awaiting delivery of the Keychron Q5 so its good to see an early review. Gone for the ISO layout as I am UK based, its not an exact ISO layout as such as the left shift will be shorter so that will be something to get used to. Hoping to mod the board so I can reduce the sound as I share a room with my girlfriend when working. I will be moving from Primarily a Melody 96, reason being is I got fed up of the squashed layout. 1800 actually seems like my perfect productivity layout so I look forward to receiving the board. Keep posting the keeb content, the more on here the better. Also props to the camera work!
I got these a week or so ago. Dropped long spring swapped Black Inks v2 into the stock box and it was good enough for me. Planning to lube the space bar stabs in the future and possibly do the PE mod.
I ordered mine with a couple different plates, some neoprene rolled rubber from Amazon and gradient shine through keycaps from Etsy. Drop has the Holy Pandas listed for $99 for 110 switches. I also have a set of stabilizers that I might swap. I find my Signature CTRL High profile TKL style lacking a numeric pad to be annoying and I'm swapping back and forth to my full size keyboard for spreadsheets and financials.
I have this exact keyboard with MT3 keycaps as well, but with Jwick Blacks L+F. However, it still sounds clacky than thocky, the latter of which is what I'm aiming for. Any tips to make it sound thockier?

I see that drop has the holypandas on sale now - but after tax/shipping, I'm getting $111.55 for the set of 110, so $1.01/each.

Pick up the Polycarbonate plate, it will help a lot over the stock one.
