  • Hello everyone, in today's video I will show you how to make a English saddle for a breyer model horse. The pattern I have hade is meant to fit a traditional size breyer horse, but you could try resizing it to fit any size toy or model horse that you'd like! So I hope you enjoy the video and I'll see you in the next one!

I am watching your version even though I already did a saddle prototype for my 1:6th models...English saddlery I know as well as the back of my own hand having had 60+ years experience lol...I should know by now lol!
Your stirrups look fine. I have ended up just bending wire into the shape but never thought to use wood treads or the hot glue (I always make a huge mess with hot glue!) I think this is great. I need to try the cardboard tree thing as I used drink can cut into a tree shape. Yours looks really good! I ran the stirrup leathers completely under the seat to hold them firm and also anchored the stirrup adjusting rings the same way (one strap under the seat with jump rings on both ends..they can't come loose this way.)

You did a great job! Two things tho. When you make these videos, say how big the jump rings are and how thick the craft foam is. thanks so much!

Brilliant saddle. I would have just made plain wire stirrups. You made them really well! The three straps are called girth straps here in Britain. Saddle pads are called blankets or numnahs here. Sorry I just thought it would help to know...I loved it!

You can also get D-rings from any hardware store and use those as stirrups.
Those three straps are called billets.

I have him as a Breyer to he was a real horse I think something bad happened to him at least that's what I've heard he was a really good horse from from what I heard I've heard that he was a lesson horse for kids who knew that kids can ride a stallion and yes he is a stallion I checked out his information from Wikipedia and it said he was a stallion and then after he was a lesson horse he became a very famous showjumper and they made a movie after him and his owner it was called Harry and Snowman

I go to a thrift store and buy used leather jackets. That gives you more than enough leather for a cheap price.
