This looks pretty awesome. I'm not entirely sold on the front end, but it looks real sleek from the side. It'll be something else to see this running at full speed.
+Amtrak Florida Railfan Amtrak has ordered about 30 of them I think. If so it's going to be for Regional Trains (Example The Blue Water and The Vermonter)
Amtrak hasn't ordered any. They are owned by a group of state DOTs and operated by Amtrak for corridor services out of Chicago (Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin).
Definitely a strange looking locomotive I'm gonna have to get used to looking at. To me they look like a modernized version of the LIRR DM30ACs. Hopefully they'll perform well.
Since the states are procuring these locomotives, they will wear whatever livery the states want them to wear. This specific unit is in the IDOT livery.

NO!! Amtrak ain't gonna own them! Only MARC is gonna own the Siemens SC-44 Chargers.. If Amtrak wants to get the new Siemens Chargers, that's up to the Amtrak company! NOTHING ELSE!!!
This just hurts my mind. It reminds me of an HSP46 (that isn't good). Whatever happened to rebuilding the thousands of deadline locomotives? Just modify them a bit and you have a cheap working locomotive. Be conservative people, we will run out of fresh ore one day and have to guess what: recycle!

it'll grow on the community, just like the genesis did lol
Wow I had literally just walked up the escalator as you walked by there. I snagged a pic of it and had to head back to work lol
Nice closeup! the heritage, uncommon, and new locomotives will now go on their separate duties!
The P42 genesis is by far my favorite locomotive. I wish keolis used those engines for the MBCR
Is this supposed to replace the P42 & become the new long haul work horse for Amtrak?
No, only MARC and I believe Metra will use these. Amtrak is only testing it.

Oh ok. So trains like the Silver Star and California Zephyr won't use these.

It is supposed to replace the P42's. The P42's have been in service for 25 years now.
How did you manage to get on the WUS platform? Last time I did, I got kicked off. I know it's a pretty strict area.
lol I just know my way around.

That's an incredible catch!!! Do you have any info about where and when they'll be testing it?
Between Trenton & Jersey Avenue around midnight in about 2 weeks or so.
Nice catch! Tell Amtrak to send it to Florida lol.
Will those things be replacing the Genesis locomotives, like the ACS-64s replaced the AEM7s?
that Siemens Charger is a Beaut , i hope Dovetail puts her in Ts2017
When is it testing?
Nice !!! Thank you for sharing !!!:):):)
Is this going to be the livery when in service? Except obviously the Siemens logo is removed

will the chargers wear the IIIB paint like the lead motor or will it be the silver and blue

Soon, and I mean by 2017 soon, these locos will have taken over the AMTK Michigan Line. It's gonna be pretty sad to see the P42s go.
When will testing be conducted?
soon
so was that a diesel Amtrak's looking at for predeceasing the P42's or is that another electric?
diesel
Will Amtrak be running this anytime soon?
only in test service for now. Revenue service not scheduled to begin until next year, I think.
Wait is the charger supposed to take over for the Genesis locomotives?
eventually

I also heard their going to be used on the Albany-Penn corridor. Those P32s aren't looking to nice
I believe All Aboard Florida will have the Charger as its primary locomotive.
Cool to see the new stuff so close. But please stop moving the camera around so much. It made it much less enjoyable to watch.
lol not sure how you want me to go back and change a video I shot a YEAR AND A HALF ago. But ok. Sure.
Fan Railer I know. For future reference 😉
AGAIN WITH THE COMMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very European feel.
am I the only person who thinks the new engines are uglier than hell
lol that's what everyone said about the Genesis when that was a new thing.
+Fan Railer I actually like the Genesis but the new styling just gives off too much of a European electric vibe.
Nope, I think the same think about em. Genesis definitely beats this.
I don't care for the front end, but I really like the lighted vent area on the sides!
