I saw the Scared Straight special, and it was great. I even saw the 1978 special with Peter Falk.

Holy shit I was right, the original "Scared Straight" productions aired on WOR-TV and WWOR respectively, 1978 and 1987.

I was 4 1/2 years old when this aired 5 1/2 months before we left Keansburg, New Jersey for Upstate NY

This must not have been long before Tom Dunn left, he definitely wasn't around by the time they moved the 8PM newscast to 10PM that fall.

He retired a few weeks later and moved to Palm Beach, Florida. The next year, WPTV Ch 5 brought him out retirement anchoring the weekend newscast.
