    Directly matches what Sean Foley was teaching with the Me & My Golf guys on their new video yesterday, and letting that upper body move off the ball and staying nice and wide. Personally, once I stopped caring about "staying centered", and let myself athletically move off the ball, ball-striking improved massively. Really loved how he related it to throwing a medicine ball against the wall as hard as you can. You wouldn't pivot centered to generate maximum leverage and power, but you'd dynamically load up in one direction, and laterally unload in the other direction.

      This, absolutely. I too was attempting to “stay centered”. However, I was actually leaning too far forward on the backswing and straightening my right leg, immediately getting stuck.

      I’m a massive RUclips learner as most are and the Sean foley lesson was amazing for me. Went the range last night and tried to get my chest over my right knee with more width and it’s probs the best I’ve ever hit it with more speed. And I’ve been playing for over a decade off a 8-12 hcp so a reasonable standard.

    I thought I watched a lot of golf on the Internet, however, this is the first time I’ve seen someone really break down their swing so thoroughly and so precisely as you do. Outstanding! Keep it up! I have spent an entire career in broadcast television… just a suggestion ; your all black outfit against your all black background isn’t your best look. But it can be. You should experiment with a white top & gray pants ,and reverse it. Any diverging colors. It’ll look so much better in those split screen SloMo shots! Thanks again…I knew that lead hip was key.

    Really enjoy hearing your description of the feels you experience and the analysis of why you think it translates to movement and position results.

    I'm currently working on the following, not all at the same time obviously: square alignment, proper forward ball position, good structure in the arms, good grip pressure, good pressure shift to trail foot going back, slight shift (1/2 inch) off the ball at takeaway, rotating around the center of the hips as opposed to the trail hip, good lead arm scapular slide at takeaway so angle between lead arm and chest increases slightly on takeaway, max speed at club parallel going back, good lead arm and hip depth at top, good recentering move before arms are at top of backswing to move pressure forward, getting hips in an open position while club is still at top so trail shoulder can move down, trail pectoral engagement, getting pressure off the trail foot as quickly as possible, right arm extension left, then squeeze the crap out of the glutes so I can hold a balanced finish position. That's all.

    Interesting drill. I know Golf Digest did a picture/story on 15 - 20 tour pros a few years ago on how much they move their heads off the ball. It varies a lot!!

    Been fighting the same reverse pivot you're describing. Recently I've been focused on just getting my lead shoulder below my chin so that encourages me to more move my shoulders around the axis of my spine. Still looks like you have alot of lateral movement with your head which might be pushing your trail hip outside your trail heel. Hence the "sloppy" trail leg and inconsistent strike at the moment as your body tries to recenter

    It's so wild how much we break down the swing when it only takes less than a second to do

    I hate the scoopy follow-through motion on the downswing. I'm also working on getting rid of this pattern. Definitely from the spine angle getting out of whack. I also felt like the re-centering at the top and really getting to my lead side was helping.

    Looking good!
    Have you seen/tried Padraig Harrington’s “How the pelvis works” video on RUclips from a couple months ago? Specifically 2 parts, the first bit about the adductor making your upper right thigh actually rotate inward into your hip during your backswing. And the second, pure pure gold part… he says once you get back to your lead side “all you do is squeeze your bollocks, you squeeze your groin”. It’s a simple intent/thought, and kinda funny.
    But hopefully you give it a clench… err try, just a couple of swings, see what happens, may really like where it gets the lower body…
    Sincerely, some rando swing commentator (also longtime fan)

    Been watching you since early days at TXG and this is the best your swing has looked, congrats. What club model and loft are you using ?

    Hi Matt, great vid for lots of reason. I'm wondering why you said you want an even steeper angle of attack? I play a baby fade and I can easily get to a minus 7 AOA or greater if I'm not careful and I want to get a bit more shallow as I feel it's probably too steep and maybe costing me yards? Trapping the ball is definitely not an issue for me (and that has nothing to do with me being a great player, I'm not). Is it more advantageous to have a steeper AOA with a draw shot-shape, and the inverse being true for a fade? Of course you always need some negative angle for irons and hybrids, I get that, but what is the sweet-spot? I have no idea where golf theory would land on this, hence my question. Could you do a video on this topic alone? I bet there is lots of confusion around this issue.

    Thanks to the RUclips algorithm, I came across your channel. Really great content!
    Two questions:
    1. You have a very slight, and I do mean ever so slight, early extension. I've been struggling with that a bit all these years. Does it bother you at all? Is it so slight of an early extension that it truly is negligible?
    2. Your feet are practically flat on the ground at impact. Is that something that you've worked on for stability? Or is that just natural to you?

    • @GolfLiberty
      @GolfLiberty  6 месяцев назад +1

      Would like to work on both for sure, the back foot I’d like to see rolling inward at least through impact

    Ok just curious to the club you were using. The reason I asked 180 for myself is a 4 hybrid 🙃 your ball speed at 128 was really close to my driver ball speed. Oh crud I got a long way to go 😏

    Looks like a driver set up and excessive move off the ball to the trail side for an iron (especially with the chest), requiring a big lateral move in the downswing to get back in position. But hey whatever works.

    • @GolfLiberty
      @GolfLiberty  6 месяцев назад +1

      it's exaggerated for the sake of the drill, need to push the move to change a movement pattern
