Learned this from Henry many years ago. And this is my secret weapon to pass a good open guard player, I'll just fall into their closed guard and pass on my knees, leaving them no chance to play open guard.
Henry by far has the best fundamentals online I have been on hidden jiu jitsu for 5 years it's the best money I have ever spent . These concepts can be used in all jiu jitsu
This is a truly invisible Jujitsu. Thank you Professor Henry for sharing your insight on the closed guard. Most jujitsu higher belts tend to view close guard as basic fundamentals. This totally changes my view of the closed guard for this point going forward!
Bernardo is so excited its really great to see! He mirrors what we the audience feels as well, I'm equally excited to learn these brilliant details for the fundamental movements! Great stuff!
this hips and spine alignment tips are OP as f***. as a white belt, those hidden details are usually game changers on my rolls. and, yes, we Brazilians DO LIKE this "foreign" evolution of the art, and ARE NOT closed in our traditional system, as so many people think Thanks, Bernardo for showing this to all of us Evolution >>>> pride osssssssss
i started jiu jitsu a few months ago. When I try to sit back on my feet, it is painful on the top of my toes. Do others have this problem and does it get better over time?
It's all very interesting but why mister Akins doesn't show us if he can open a black belt guard from the knees, instead of saying that the art of opening the guard from the knees got lost? He could try to open the Keenan Cornelius guard. if I'm not mistaken a few years ago Keenan Cornelius argued that it was useless to teach opening the closed guard from the knees.
I’ve personally watched Henry open plenty of black belt level guards from his knees. He also advocates for standing. The beautiful part is the posture he explains here can be so difficult to overcome that a lot of people just abandon their closed guard entirely and opt to open up on their own. It also can be “mastered” relatively quickly. I’ve used it for years and have had almost no one save for the highest level competitors be able to break my posture. It’s legit.
@Keegan Yentsch Do you think that he gives the credits everytime, or he talk with arrogance like was he the creator? The way he talk in BJJfanatics is much more kind than his regular way.
I can't believe Henry has given that out here. I had to travel to LA, take private lessons, etc. This is gold.
Hell Yeah!
relax...if someone raises on you and grab your collar, you are going down anyway
@@theratrace2153do this against someone who knows what they’re doing and lmk

We learned this in foundations at SBJ. We call it the J spine posture. Use it frequently!

Bernardo is super pumped
Bravo, Henry Akins!!!🧐
This will be my new meditation posture.
Thanks BJJ, 41 y old white belt, these tips are awesome!
Lucky. I know black belts who feel like they're starting all over again. You're already ahead of everyone else if you adapt Henry's teachings.

The hidden jiu jitsu site is unbelievable have been on there for years
This vid should be kept secret. Amazing tip. Thx!
Wow!
Bernardo has his set phrases whenever guests come in but it's rare to see Bernardo with genuine child-like excitement.
No disadvantage to not being on the toes in guard?
Even oposite - you will lose your posture, when you stay on active toes - Henry showed it in another movie.
@@farlooncave exactly... Active toes means your center of gravity is an inch taller = you are more tippable
So he is saying that I should slouch while in closed guard instead of sitting up straight??

I've heard from almost everyone that you need to pass on your feet
I love the keenan open where he presses their gi on the floor and pushes the leff off

No way this works!
Noy all high level black belts advocate passing standing. Bernardo himself prefers passing on the knees.
How long before other jiujitsu teachers put this on RUclips and pretend they created it?
He did the same, Rickson is the creator.
@Keegan Yentsch Do you think that he gives the credits everytime, or he talk with arrogance like was he the creator? The way he talk in BJJfanatics is much more kind than his regular way.
I love you Bernardo, but can you please stop interrupting your guests, I wanted to hear what Henry was going to say about active toes.
Bernardo please stop interrupting the guests !
No way this works.
Being fat helps
Being fat with shitty posture won't help you avoid submissions..
This posture is nothing new. Dogs are doing this all the time when they are humping 🐶
id love to see footage of this guy rolling some good black belts
So he is saying that I should slouch while in closed guard instead of sitting up straight?? Sounds strange but I guess it works
