Popular or Unpopular opinion, but for me Sijo's 1st round was top 3 in the whole competition. It was emotional, warming and raw in the same time and the drops were amazing. Singing ( good imo) created the contrast and complemented beatifully the drops.
It is a popular opinion. But when somebody stops before the drop and disses the entire round for singing, then obviously he doesn't feel the drop hitting that hard.

There are some times when syjo doesn't have the notes, but that's a risk you take when you choose to not use autotune. For me personally, I like it because most of the time he does land on pitch. Not using autotune also allows you to alter the pitch slightly to rest better harmonically for things like raising fifths or lowering thirds.
I personally love syjos singing, even if live it can be a little rough at times. A big factor in that is the stage being so big and loud.
If he didn't interrupt the entire Syjo first round he would have probably noticed that Syjo's drop was far far better than Mystix's.
EXACTLY, You can't pause every 5 seconds DURING A DROP and then say its bad. The 1st round is completely not my style but the drop is by far better than those of mistix' 1st round
Don't get me wrong, I like syjos first track, but I think it comes down to personal taste. If he likes mistix's drop, then that's the best in his eyes.
I absolutely disagree with your opinion, his singing is always on point. It does not scratch my ear and he hits the notes. There are not many loopers who can sing. This is his style and there is no need to make a fan of this every video of his, so that people would have a bad general impression of his rounds.
Bro went on a 10 minutes breakdown to basically just say drops is what matters. That’s the worst take I’ve seen him have by far. They make songs and what most songs have in it? Singing/rapping. Bet 100 bucks he enjoys it when loopers raps though.

You can not like his singing but saying he can’t sing is just completely wrong. Saying "if you can’t sing then don’t sing" is pretty far from an opinion based on taste but more in the range of pure hatred.
Also don’t forget not everything has to be built for a fat drop. I’ve grown up as a headbanger for over a decade and a half, I Iive for drops but I still enjoy how these artists differentiate themselves with their styles and we shall respect that.

I think your opinion on singing in bbx/loop is very interesting as you’re really the first one I’ve ever heard express such complains. Imho it’s part of the art form and doesn’t need to be perfect to compliment the rounds and make them feel like actual songs. But still an interesting perspective
100% agree, best loopers always incorporate singing, Saro, MB14, Antrix, SyJo, Robin, M-age, bizkit, dice and many more… I would say pretty much every looper that made it on the gbb stage..

To be fair: Syjo is pretty young and is gathering stage experience. I think he has a good room to improve his singing skills, but that dude is mad talented. If he can hit those high notes, he can also hit his base notes. Give the young lads some time Anthony and appreciate their sound design. It will get better over time. Be kind y'all, it's music and everyone has his own opinions and taste 🤟🏻
Personally when i 1st heard this i eas completely enthralled by the performance, which is what beatboxing is about, its an art form and its a work of art.
Sjyo created an atmosphere and the crowd loved it, it was a great performance and he deserved the win
That singing take is a big L take imo. Syjo's tracks are even without singing 10 times better than mistix in this battle and on top of that he is even incorporating vocals and make his tracks actually feel like tracks
Not gonna lie, I completely respect having your own opinion on things but the takes in this video were pretty questionable. It seemed like the chat was just going along with it because Anthony was hating on him. Syjo is a great looper and I think his voice adds a lot to his performances. Though I can agree he doesn't hit every note every time, it's impossible to be perfect when on a stage like that.

Looping is not about beatbox or technique its about the track you produce. and for a good track you need some vocals, its that simple
A track can still be amazing without any vocals. Although vocals do add an element that can enhance the overall experience for the audience, I dont think its always “needed”.

I really enjoyed this battle! Both their styles are unique and fun! Syjos voice and Lyrics get me every time🎉 I loved Mistix drops and his style! I am stoked to see how he grows as an artist
I mean we can say Syjo's tracks are those typical EDM songs you hear everywhere on radio or youtube, but one could also say they are perfect EDM tracks no other loopers do as good as him. And since this genre is so popular, he will win a lot of competitions with his style. I personally also think his singing is perfect... Maybe I dont have good ears to hear some issues, but since I always get the goosebumps when I listen to him singing frankly idgaf if he is off pitch sometimes. This guy is amazing and the beatbox scene needed him so much imo. (this comes from a metalhead who enjoys edm music sometimes)
He absolutely misses notes, but i’d say is not bad enough to make it not enjoyable. Anyway, he’s pretty young so i suppose he’ll keep improving over time
I think you were a little too critical of the guy, everyone gets nervous on stage. He definitely can sing WAY better than loopers who I don’t think you criticized. It’s a bit mean and excessive to say “if you can’t sing then don’t sing.” I think looping is art and everyone is free to express it as they want, especially in a battle format. If it wasn’t a winning strategy for him, then his style wouldn’t constantly win competitions

I don't think he sing like garbage, but it is indeed mediocre compared to Robin, Christheodian even MB14, Syjo can hit high but its too shaky and not in control, I think when he try to hit higher notes, his throat is too tight and not relax enough, but he does have the potential to be better in singing
He said he sings okay, that it's decent. And I agree with him with it. What I disagree is that singing does add a lot to the tracks.

Robin is not the best looper in the world, that question is actually very subjective, not necessarily the one who wins GBB is the best looper… however I feel like SyJo is definitely one of the best loopers in the world and I personally really appreciate the singing, same can be said about Robin, singing Makes it feel like an actual complete song and at the end of the day is all about music. in my opinion singing is part of beatboxing, I wouldn’t call Den or codfish bad beatboxers because they incorporate a lot of singing…

In my opinion singing can bring a nice contrast in energy to the song. Syjo's drops hit 2x harder when they follow some soft singing.
Robin (one of the best loopers there is) does not even do typical "drops" but creates beautyful pieces just by singing. Looping would be kinda stale if everyone did build up -> drop -> build up -> drop.

I agree he’s a bit pitchy sometimes but the beats will not work without the singing and the singing gives the track the vibe. Considering it’s a beatbox loop battle I can be a bit forgiving about the notes and also because 99 prevent of loopers can’t sing a tune for their lives and call themselves loop artists
I can understand you not understanding singing in loop (battles) but loop battles have never really been used as HARDCORE battle rounds like in solo. Loop battles is more used as a mix between showcasing they're skill and creating battle energy, because rounds with no real lyrics really just become generic and usually fall flat on stage. i can see where you are coming from with syjo not hitting all his notes... but Robin doesn't always hit his notes live either yet he still won Gbb? Take antrix or kba as an example some of the best loopers in the game but not the greatest singers but they still sing maybe they add autotune or don't either way its almost like a must to have lyrics/singing parts in your track ATP bc drops doesn't win round complexity/fullness of rounds does
So your take really just become based on taste and not looked at with neutral glasses as you say yourself....

Both of them are really good loopers, for sure. But since we're all talking about Syjo's singing, I thought I might do so too. I'm a very big Syjo fan, by the way, but I also don't like his singing 'sometimes', due to his lack of confidence about his singing techniques. Syjo definitely has a good voice and a pretty decent high vocal range, and his first round had me really teased up, because he sometimes hits the notes and sometimes not. And it's really unsatisfying from a listener's perspective. But that's just how I feel about it, I'm no judge or anything. Plus in overall, he's just doing his thing and some may like it, some not, but I got to keep it balanced by saying that it doesn't, in any case, affect his looping skill.
Also, Mistix made me question how he did the second drop of his second round, and I think it's a good thing. And let's not also forget Syjo used his best round against him to manage beating him, yeet !
But in the end, Anthony is my favorite looper. You definitely should check his loopstation routine (A Tag Team Looping) with BlackPegasus "Ugly Boyz", it's very good 🤞

Beatbox is really weird. We all try to make music with our mouth using strange sounds. This niche means we rely on each other for support and encouragement.
That's why the comments are so fueled. AR has generally been supportive, but his opinions here lack encouragement and compassion. Saying "I wish he spent less time singing" is much different then saying "if you can't sing, don't bother."
Bbx community will support your projects and art, but when you disrespect them, that opens the floodgates to harsher critique towards yourself. Even though it's a competition, it's still self-expression.
Most of the time he does hit the notes. What makes it feel off is his technique and lack of proper breath support. Singin on a stage is hard af but that's something that gets better over time with more experience on stage. He does a really good job, considering he can't hear himself that good.
I've been on stage on multiple Instruments. Drums? No problem at all, being able to hide behind a massive instrument helps a lot. Bass? Well yeah, you're standin there infront of everybody, I completely forgot one song on the spot. Vocals? Bloody hell, I did good but my voice was unstable and it was the first time I experience stage fright.
Again: Syjo's singing is NOT on point all the time, but it is MOSTLY. He's doin a good job. And now let's introduce some peace to this comment section 😄

I really don't understand your 20 minute long rant about his singing but I am glad that it didn't hold you back from enjoying Syjo's drop
in syjos 2nd round its not that he sings bad, he is just not showing much power and presence in his voice, when hes doing the high pitch melody its very good and i loved that but when he was just singing it was not hitting for me too because when u have a beat that sick ur singing has to be that sick too
But that's an absurdly high bar. They are beatboxers first and foremost and this was for the German beatbox scene not the world level.
Imagine expecting somebody to be good at beatboxing, loopstation (and you acknowledge his beat is sick) but you are pressed because his voice falters in few places.
He is better at singing than most of the beatbox community only to be rivaled by people like MB14, Robin etc.

2) Your argument makes no sense, he is not perfectly singing so he shouldn't sing? Many beatboxers aren't doing it perfectly, should they not do beatbox at all? This is a battle, not a showcase to be perfect. You just have to be better than the opposite side. If the other party can't sing/ loop as good as you they lose. It's that simple. If you know your singing is better than most and you have a round that is melodic, then why not add vocals to make it unique. This guy and this comment section (admittedly confirmation bias with the reactor) is the first reaction I saw which does not liking the singing, which is fine not to like it. But when majority do like it is just bad advice to day he shouldn't sing.
This same guy also watched Roguewave vs Jairo tag team battle. Roguewave had some pitching issues while Jairo where remarkably on pitch. Yet he acknowledged Roguewaves technical skills without mentioning the pitching issues, because there he was okay with hype, here he just isn't.

im sure you know this, but i encourage you to maintain your stance and opinions about syjo's singing despite the comments here. I personally don't mind his singing, but criticism, especially ones that are reasonable and evident such as this, is much needed in the online community. That being said, i think he kept his vocals fairly unprocessed, but with things like a better mix and some autotune im sure syjo can produce much better vocals, which i think he has done in more recent tracks
