You may want to put some mesh over your gutter. Leaves, bugs, and other debris will get into your barrel and clog your pump or decay and make your water stagnant. Otherwise, looks good! 😃👍
He needs a copper pipe in the soil and a copper wire into the water that will have a copper rod lying on the bottom. Everything has to be grounded and you get the world's best eggs and the chickens get properly balanced and charged drinking water. He shold do the same for himrself :) -The water mustbe in constant motion/circulation like he is doing. This is awesome
@torque7025 you know that any living thing directly touching the earth is grounded, right, like the chicken's feet are doing? That's why it's termed 'ground' in electrical engineering. You don't need copper for grounding lol. Even with rubber soles, we are far from electrically isolated. We easily share electrons with everything we touch. When you have a brief build up of electrical charge you usually find our right away, because you get a static electric shock the next time you touch something conductive (which, of course, neutralizes the charge). Also how does grounding benefit the chickens?
Pretty ingenious. Don’t forget about some kind of filter before it goes through that pump. All kinds of debris is coming off that roof. You can see it in the rain barrel.
Now just add a small solar panel/charge controller and battery to run it independently - harbor freight has a small 1-200 watt system that just needs the battery for < $200 the last I checked
It doesn't have to be about profitability, and a lot of cases it's just because bringing buckets of water back and forth from your faucet to wherever you keep your chickens can be a real workout.
OK I don't know how I got on this video from watching Korean food recipes lol but OMG this is INGENIOUS!! 👏🏼👏🏼 I wish I had chickens or knew someone who did so I could suggest this to them lmao. Maybe add some wide mesh/chicken wire-type thing to catch large chunks of debris like leaves and twigs to stop it clogging up the pipes and pump??
PSA: Chickens aren't humans. Animals don't have the same needs as humans. It's perfectly safe for chickens to drink non filtered water. Free range chickens drink out of the nastiest puddles they can find and they are perfectly healthy. In fact, the microbiome in their guts are probably stronger because of it. Calm down about the lack of a filter. I would suggest a screen though, just so the system doesn't get clogged.
I think most people worried about a filter are thinking of the long term implications of debris continually falling in and clogging the pump/pins. It’s something to make the automated system easier to use long term.
I've had this system for almost a year now, these barrels provide darkness but not completely - so algae still happens. I have 2 solutions I'm going to try: 1. Hang a 24" copper pipe in the 50 gallon drum as it's antimicrobial and see. 2. If copper pipe doesn't work, I'm going to do what the large farms do and add chlorine to my water like they have in the city tap water.
Idk why but this made me exited in the same way that like optimizing a farm in a video game does. Starting my first garden this year.. can’t have chickens, but I’m excited to tinker with self watering etc
Why cut out a down spout and not just use a gutter? Also, I’d recommend a filter and potentially empty is most of the way when you are about to get rain. I’ve done a ton of water projects and accidental growth is always the main unforeseen issue.
Mesh over the gutter and rain barrel will help keep our debris so nothing clogs. Also it will help prevent mosquitoes from breeding inside the rain barrel
Hey boss, you need a first flush device on that, if not your rain bucket will become contaminated with stuff making clean up and purification a lot harder.
Bro, just trying to help you conservative electricity. You should reconsider not using the heater, because moving water generally doesn't freeze. ..Just try it, if the pump alone doesn't work, then add the heater.
How do you make sure the water doesn't contain microbes that will harm your chickens? Is there a filter or purifier of some kind integrated into the system?
Ah don't you just love when you think you're done but nope you missed a very important part. I saw those trees and instantly thought damn leaves. But hey brother eats green
Why not an actual gutter? This feels like the super dodgy videos where they wag their finger at you after they demo the entirety wrong tool for the job obviously doesnt work and instead of buying the 50c thing they spend 2 hours making it out of 5c of garbage.

@@torque7025grounding is bullshit and has no real benefit other than placebo effect.
Yeah this is gonna get disgusting real quick

That needs to run for years and years until thats slightly profitable
@@birbdad1842it’s not as much about profit as time efficiency/reducing maintenance chores

What are are you doing to filter out the debris the would be going into the rest of the system so that Nothing Gets Clogged up

- Smart idea but you need maybe mesh or cheese cloth on the gutters so that leaves && debri doesn't get into the water. 😊
You should install a sediment trap to get all the big trash so your pump wont clog

You need a filter for Mother Nature, just a heads up
Beat me to it lol def don't rust rain water without a filter, its pulling down all the pollution lol

You need filtration.
If you using rain water for chickens just make sure your water stays fresh. Month old water would be full of microorganisms
i he definitely needs a filter on this contraption but i believe he did say that the water is constantly flowing so it won't be still
Bro they are chickens 💀
I was looking for a good system for gutters on my chicken coop and this looks great. Thanks.
I pray to be blessed with a husband like this one day.
Now add a Vitamix to the far end of the coop with a scale that grabs them when they are big enough and bam... automatic nuggies.
This project looks so satisfying
You're not worried the heater in the water will help culture excessive bacteria?
OMG how innovative..love it!
So it's like drip irrigation used for farming. Hmm interesting its a good idea. Amd the chickens are following well too.😊
Do you not have to be worried about pathogens in the collected water?
Not on youtube
Guy a handy man 👨🍳very domesticated and practical very effective methods.
Make sure to treat for algae!
No need if it’s completely dark in the barrel. It’s actually pretty cool that it works!

I never thought I'd miss rain.....but I do. We don't get a measurable amount of rain, unless it's frozen, THEN we can measure it hahaha
Excellent idea bro now you’re saving your self more time bravo 👏 👍
cool 👏👏👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

beautiful chickens 👍🏼🤗🤗🤗🤗

Does it rain often enough to keep that full throughout the year? And as others mentioned, won't that need some sort of filtration?
I would honestly add some filter. Doesn't want my chicken to get sick because of not the best quality of rainwater
So smart!!!
That is a fantastic idea because we all know how absolutely nasty chicken water can get😂😂😂
Hey boss, you need a first flush device on that, if not your rain bucket will become contaminated with stuff making clean up and purification a lot harder.
🐣 Eggcellent 🐔 idea 💡
This that guy that used to teach me stoner meals right? Yeah sounds about right.. automating chickens
Good till winter
POV there’s a drought
All it needs is a filter, but that is a great idea.
How do the chickens instinctively know to peck and get water 😂
Bro, just trying to help you conservative electricity. You should reconsider not using the heater, because moving water generally doesn't freeze. ..Just try it, if the pump alone doesn't work, then add the heater.
My chickens only get fresh spring water.
Comes back in a week to dead chickens
Part # for water pump please? Great idea. With water pump you probably don’t need water heater. Unless you deal with 15 below 0 temperatures
this is smart
Make sure to cover anything that could hold staining water with mesh so you don’t create a mosquito breeding habit
I would be concerned about microbial contaminarion...just doesn't look safe.
How do you make sure the water doesn't contain microbes that will harm your chickens? Is there a filter or purifier of some kind integrated into the system?
Or.... place a bowl of (rain)water in the cage.
Good system
Can you share links to where you got the stuff? I want to do this for my wife's chickens!
got my watering system from Carolina coops! (@carolinacoops on IG)
@@ProHomeCooks Thanks so much!
@demolitionranch could use this for his goats.
Ah don't you just love when you think you're done but nope you missed a very important part. I saw those trees and instantly thought damn leaves. But hey brother eats green
Its like palworld
You need a mesh filter, dont let the chickens eat all that randon debris
Care to tell us the package that you bought that comes with all the stuff to make this?
fuckk theyre going to get so sick ahahaha
What's stopping mosquitoes from laying eggs in the barrel
Don't you need a chlorine chamber, with a filter after? What will prevent microorganisms from the self-circulating flowing water?
Rainwater is not as clean as you may think, it’s got all kinds of nasty little buggers living in it
How do you keep
The water fresh on not forming film?
What do you if it hasnt rained for awhile or is it just not an issue for you?
You may have to filter or purifie the rain water 🤔
Where did you get the screw in pecking taps ?
Rain watter is full of chamicals from chamtrails 🥺
Where do I find the watering bar??
Wow good to see you’re still alive and active I haven’t seen you since you where on the brothers green cooking show, how’s your brother?
How do the chickens know to peck at it tho 😮
Why wouldn’t you just use a gutter? You can see that you are loosing water in the areas you didn’t cut the down spout. 🤷🏻♂️
Enjoy collecting rain water while you still can!
Check out you tube's bio pods. You might like your chickens enough to provide fresh protein🎉🎉🎉
What if it didn't rain ?
where to get those cups
Where do you buy it?
why a gutterdownspot with holes cut instead of an actual gutter?
Won't it build algae
Why not an actual gutter? This feels like the super dodgy videos where they wag their finger at you after they demo the entirety wrong tool for the job obviously doesnt work and instead of buying the 50c thing they spend 2 hours making it out of 5c of garbage.
What about debree?
I hope that is drought proof?
But they already have plastic gutters right next to that downspout you cut out. Why not just buy that?
Just begging to be clogged up
Lots of plastic
Anyone have a link or know where you can find that pump system?
a part of my chicken watering pump is from here: carolinacoopsflockshop.com/products/basic-poultry-watering-system
Hope that helps!!
