Golly he really brushed over all the hard yards that Dave did before he ""left"" the project. I feel sorry for Dave. He was the driving force behind this and now he isn't even a foot note.
Many ww2 type aircraft have been destroyed. There were no museum for these aircraft they were obselete they were spread all over the place. A unused stirling bomber stood on an airfield and the station commander wanted to get rid of it. He ordered it to be burned. Of turned out it was the last Stirling in the world. Aircraft preservation became popular because of the Battle of Britain movie. Up till then it was up to wealthy historic mind set miljonairs and groups.
To all the billionaires out there … 6 mil is chump change … do something really worthwhile and we could have a couple of these beauties back up and flying.
Great and exciting project…….However in service it was a terribly unreliable death trap. In early service many pilots died of carbon monoxide poisoning, engine overheating failures, then later as the airframe gained hours catastrophic structural failures in the rear fuselage caused the tail section to rip off. In all the RAF lost over 600 pilots in this aircraft!
Ian slater is virtually building a new Typhoon in Canada, 2 flying Typhoons ,can't wait !
Quand pourrons nous entendrele terrifiant moteur Napier Sabre ? Les allemands savaient à quoi s attendre lorsqu ils l entendaient...
Finally, I'm dying to hear a Sabre engine sound in today's high quality microphones ! And also see the beast fly by !
101 years old?!?! Amazing!!! And best of luck to restoring this amazing airplane...!
Can I suggest investing in a lapel mic. Mike Connelly Retired Head of Video Unit BAe Kingston & BBC documentaries / Current Affairs Cameraman.

100 percent agree with you, it’s been his dream to see it fly
Bril! Nuff said!.

Beggars the question, how come none of these beautiful aircraft were preserved? Such shortsightedness that is still repeated today unfortunately.😢
Typhoon had a bit of a bad reputation from it's early days.

Same with the Stirling Bomber
That happens when the powers that be, view it as een obsolete piece of equiptment, not as an object that played a historic part in history.
