I really loved season 5 but one of the things that I really disliked is that we didn't see more development in the friendship between Gwaine and Merlin (that exists in seasons 3 and 4). To me it seemed that they...just forgot they were friends or something :(

I think it is because Gwaine became one of Arthur's knights that they don't mix as much but you do see glimpses of their friendship in the episode where Gwaine is in the mine, when Gwaine goes with Arthur to look for Merlin after he was xaptured by Morgana and in the last episode when Gwaine accompanies Merlin to guard him when he has lost his magic on the way to the Crystal cave.

Is Colin Morgan Swedish? In the show he sounds like an authentic British person, but here, he sounds different.

He is from Northern Ireland so his natural accent is from there. When he acts in Merlin he speaks with an English accent.
