- Working on a Cabin Surrounded by Nature - a day and a half of labor building our remote off grid cabin in the woods. I took some extra time to make sure I captured the sights and sounds we get to enjoy every trip to the cabin. We work on installing white washed pine wainscoting, cedar shingle siding, putting on a section of chimney, collecting rocks from the creek and there is also coffee and tea.

You have shared times of just enjoying it already. It has been great to see you solving the problems along the way, for the guidance it gives to employ on our own projects. Your cabin reminds me of a diamond . When you find it its rough not that appealing . But cut by cut it gets better and starts taking on a whole new look . Enjoyed the views of nature, the soothing music, and watching your progress, both inside and out. The only jarring note was the disparity of your sitting at a table, drinking coffee, while the other person was head-down, unengaged, looking at the phone's screen.

one step at a time. you may feel you don't get much done, but remember, most homes are build by crews of professionals and they take time as well. just look back at all you have accomplished already. Balance work with enjoyment of the cabin and land. The goal is not to make the cover page of a magazine but to build your own future, at your pace in the most self reliant way you can.
During these challenging times, I take one day at a time. My plans are still in place but the days challenges are all I can concentrate on, in a somewhat predictable manner.
Keep it up and stay healthy.

The cabin is coming along well. The video looks great even without the wide angle lens. Ladder jacks for the win. Have used them many times and they work great. Pump jacks are even nicer when you have long runs that need siding. You picked a super piece of property to build on. It has a lot of character. Take care.

The shingles are getting close to being finished looking great 👍 on out camp I remember the top of the gable ends seemed to take forever but all of a sudden it’s done

Until you said it was a kind of a slow day and that you didn't get that much done, I thought it was a rather productive day! LOL What do I know? Loved those globe mugs you and Sarah had your morning coffee out of. You are nearly finished with shingling that side with the solar covered overhang. Yes, it would have been so much easier without the window awning with the solar panel. You got some more shingling done on the back. Except for the router failure, you might have finished even more. Don't give up. These things happen. And you have plenty of time on your hands. The cabin is looking SO good! Thanks for the upload. Stay safe and well you two!
