Hi Deb, just discovered your channel . Absolutely loving the longer format. It never feels rushed, as a viewer it enables us to relax , learn and have a go.thanks so much.
lovely as always! I totally enjoy your videos Debra Lyn and keep trying to get "loose and expressive" but I think im not there yet! more water- that's what I hear you say! have a great new year, and I look forward to more creative lessons from you.
Debra What size is your paper here? And where do you buy large sheet paper. For the life of me I cannot find big sheets of 300 lb by Arches…Thank you! You are amazing!
Thanks so much. 100% cotton paper is ideal for working with loose watercolor, because you use higher levels of water, so it would make sense to use 100% cotton. If you use pulp paper or lower cotton percentages you’ll run into issues and it only hinders the beginner. I think the manufacturers market their papers wrong…beginners should not use inferior paper in my opinion, it doesn’t help them it will discourage them, they spend to much time running after puddles of water and warping issues. Also, a skilled painter can paint on almost anything because they’ve learned to deal with issues as they paint. Also pulp paper and low grade cotton are great for painting with less water.
not sure what you asking. Are you saying is there a photo reference to this? If that’s what your saying its no, this are created through my imagination.

I love it! I tried to replicate it today but mine doesn't look so good. How important is the type of paper? I'm using one that's only 60%cotton.

Did you leave the salt on until you completed your painting?
Yes, it must dry completely.
Did you let the salt to dry or you just kept working?
You watched it in real time, I just kept working
where's the kitty!
She was napping while I filmed!!! I got lucky that day 😂
Photo reference?

LOVE IT! Thank you, Debra Lyn.....but do I have the nerve to try this? Susan
Why would you not? I say…go for it! It’s just paint and paper.
