I immensely respect and appreciate the beyond individual tolerance , respect ... to follow individual paths to healing , spiritual heights...by Rabbi Baruch Gartner- This comes from someone who believes in prohibition of alcohol ; and drug use soley for medicinal purposes . Gartner's experience is compelling; he excellently articulates necessity of serious contemplation , caution , supervision ... His midnight Torah rituals seem a must. As always , thank you Yaakov !
Such a heavy, meaningful topic… but I have to go a little shallow on you…. I bought my husband shirts and a suit from Twillory-- by FAR the nicest clothes he’s ever had!! The fit is PERFECT and the clothes look so good on him!! We live in FL so he will TRULY appreciate these clothes during our hot summers!!! Thank you for introducing us to this great company!!!! And of course, continued thanks for bringing us often sensitive content through a Torah lens.
There are two primary factors that psychedelics seem to address and they are healing trauma and providing spiritual experience, and at a certain level of depth these two things are connected interestingly also that many people have suffered trauma from high control dogmatic religious structures and on the flip side that a personal religious experience the type that one can have on psychedelics can heal trauma The interesting conversations around psychedelics can be; 1. What are the potential dangers of psychedelics (more than just an anecdotal story without all the facts) 2. How and why does it work 3. Why is it becoming a cultural phenomenon (Rabbi Gartners theory is a very very narrow part of the full spectrum) 4. What is the process of integrating the experience into daily life through discipline and practice 5. If people from the frum community are flocking there, then what soul searching can we do about our society that maybe causes so many people trauma or to look for alternatives (it's not because they're dissatisfied because that have so much...) 6. Maybe we should interview people that are actually participating and find out what their story is (if we dare) Rabbi Gartner, you found a path that works for you, it excited you as a young adult and you've found respect honor and happiness in your role. That's good for you, other people have other paths, let's start either giving them a voice and hearing their story or at least not presume that what works for you works or even should work for them. It's time for us to all become humble and start truly listening to each other and have real authentic truthful conversations, because will all due respect this interview had a expected scripted outcome and you were chosen by those in "charge" because you are a non threat to the "system" There is alot of amazing literature on psychedelics with really good and relevant content 1. Confrontations with the un conscious by Scott Hill 2. William James varieties of religious experience 3. Carl Jungs Modern man in search of a soul 4. Alduous Huxley doors of perception And much much more And of course Kabbalah and Chasidus
I appreciated Reb Baruch’s story and perspective but ultimately disappointed in how the important topic was quickly bypassed by a secondary conversation. Something missing from this conversation here is that people are *suffering*, and not because they are disconnected, but because of the unaddressed trauma in the community. The treasure is under the stove, sure, but so is the pain.
Zac your problem was that you expected more. Ive gone to the best Yeshivos and lived in this system all my life. Im still here with wife and 7 children and love Torah Kabbalah psychology philosophy and paychedelics. Rabbi Gartner was not puppeted to this interview to have an authentic conversation, he was used a prop to get a specific result and that is 1. To calm all the people still adhering to the dogma who are unsatosfied but not ready to make the jump 2. To protect the psychologically unstable or unsupported from jumping into an experience that can destabilize them. I grew up in this system, it's never about a real truthful conversation, it's always agenda based I hope I shed some light. Yours truly
(Zechariah 8:23) The lion shall lie down with the lamb, and a little child shall lead them. They shall eat, and lie down, and no one shall make them afraid. (Zephaniah 3:13) HaShem Yithbarak take my pain away. For Zaphnath-Paaneah. Al-Hanissim.
This was very interesting, but there is something cultlike about it as well. Much potential for someone who is manipulative to use a susceptible person.
The altered state brought on by psychedelics gives a person insights that are not obtainable otherwise. This includes religious insights. Some of these insights are necessary to individuals and society as a whole. Demonization of these drugs can have adverse effects. I'd say that much of the stagnation in religion and societal discord is because not enough people are taking psychedelics and those that do are inhibited from talking about it.
I heard a respected Rabbi say, if someone is in severe pain and does not want to take pills, it could possibly be okay, but not for recreation, and he admitted they have non thc versions like cbd which means there should be no use for smoking
Have never known anyone personally to be addicted to weed certainly not myself. I guess it’s possible tho for some. I use it when my doctor prescribed pills just are not doing it
Right. But not everyone is born into a wealthy, supporting community with tons of oppurtunities. How do you expect someone to have emunah let alone bitachon, when their life started out with getting beaten daily and called stupid by their parents daily just because they dont behave as the parents expect him to, became homeless in their early teens and still struggle both financially and emotially in their adult life and not able to estabilish any kind of human relationship because of trust issues? Are you going to take away their only way of connecting to Hashem? Or are you suggesting that hashem just "uncreate" these plants 'cause people should just have emunah and bitachon?
Water into wine.. the stream from Mt Helicon gives birth to the Muses which beguiles Narcissus into falling in love with his own image. Trapped by a mental construct of your own creation. Exodus 17:6 Moses strikes the rock for water to gush from it,, people worship the rock, instead of undrstanding what is above it. Deuteronomy 10:12-17
What does the Rabbi think of the experiences described by Carlos Castaneda? Most people are aversive to FEAR, naturally! Doesn't that term refer to the - ABSENCE of G-D, or Nature? We are supposed to STAY AWAY FROM the harmful and parasitic forces in JUST THE RIGHT WAY, according to the Commandments! Every one of us, wants to connect to The Creator in Him - DIRECTLY - and not through any INTERMEDIARY! Isn't that what G-D also wants?
Gaza is not a nation. There is No nation called Palestinian or a land called Palestine even IN THE QURAN, but the Quran talks about the Jews and the land of Israel so many times.

I am one of the ppl you describe. Unaddressed trauma that is ruining my otherwise beautiful life
@@POMNZVTmy heart is with you mamash ❤️🩹
What unaddressed trauma ?
I can not understand service of Hashem influenced by any psychoactive substances. I wished there was more emphasis on never using the drugs.
Amazing interview!
Such a clear outlook

It was nice to see the ad you played. ❤
Is weed covered. Helps me focus on studying Torah and helps when traditional medicine does nothing
I feel psychedelics are a different kettle of fish tried them when younger
I heard a respected Rabbi say, if someone is in severe pain and does not want to take pills, it could possibly be okay, but not for recreation, and he admitted they have non thc versions like cbd which means there should be no use for smoking
Weed has medical qualities, but it's addictive. Psychedelics are not addictive.
Weed brings you down. Psychedelics bring you up.
Have never known anyone personally to be addicted to weed certainly not myself. I guess it’s possible tho for some. I use it when my doctor prescribed pills just are not doing it

Is that what the Hindu holy men practice for centuries,
