I’ve often heard, and seen, that the best barrel racers ever don’t kick a lot, bounce in the saddle around the barrel, use the “over and under” whip on the way out and never use a tie-down. It seems to be true. I think all these things are learned by small town girls that think they look cool doing it, but it seems to actually slow a horse down. Makes sense to me, I’d tense up and not move as fast too if you were doing all that to me 👍🏼

In my day you could and if you keep that other hand available and off the horn you will have that chance. I rode some super fast barrel horses and set more than a few barrels back up way back in the day. Again well done
My trainer says to grab the horn with your free hand so that you don't mess up how the horse runs by using your hand too much. Plus it would be close to impossible to use your outside hand and reach across your body to hold the barrel up then to reach down with your inside hand to keep it up. If you used your outside hand I would think it would mess up your balance and body position
They're horsewomen, not cowgirls. Cowgirls, like cowboys, are chiefly concerned with the raising, herding and sale of cattle. This family appears to be solely focused on horsemanship.
Take away the bit if you really think they are like family you would not want to put pain in there mouth or spurs on there sides no reason for pain kicking hurts bad enough no need to add to it
i wonder if she ever try rensases fair? though not many girls will get nocked off horses that to hard on shoulder and back. not sure who play for as at resonance fair normally play for maiden. if she was madden? no trolls pleases i get rodio different horse sport from rensanses fair sports, just kuntukey derby total different horse sport from two mentioned.
Barrel racing is about a horse and the girl. There is not one man out there that is quite as good with a horse than a girl is. Barrel racing is like "Cutting" and what pay would not pay a fortune for a good cutting horse?

Just looked it- so yes a rider may set a barrel back up if they knock it. Let go of the horn ya'll im seeing it on WPRCA website too....
