The black tear means a terrible loss, the smeraldo flower: the truth that cannot be spoken.
It's not about girls xD it's about the conflict between his two egos, the real one and the idol one. It's like he gave up on his real voice for the idol one, that's why his reality is silent, he can't express himself. He did it for the mission of the BTS's artistic project, but he's questioning the decision in the song.

Some people say he is talking about 2 versions of V in BU. Conflict is between two V. One V is before he killed his stepfather and another one V After he killed his stepfather. Sin he committed, guilt he experienced trappped him in ice. He knows that to try to explain or make excuse for his action only gonna make things worse. He is living with that guilt. He is in pain. And at the end of the song he is stating, that at that time he didn't see any other way out and asking for understanding, acknowledgment that he is right, or it will be even more devastating and hurtfull if no one will be able to see things from his perspective.

yo! a fact about this song, rm wrote this after he had surgery and was recovering. he said he needed a cool song for V so he wrote this exactly how it is without any modifications. as for the meaning of the song i think you can interpret it however you choose whether it’s a girl or if it’s his ego. anyways this song has a mad sensual feeling and like y’all said very mature, that’s probably why i love it so much!!

Anyways, this conflict between losing and grounding ourselves in a relationship is so normal in our first relationships. That’s how we learn and grow, and learn how to be healthy while in a relationship. This vid goes along with the concept Love Yourself. I think BTS is trying to convey these struggles and emotions in the journey of loving ourselves 😊 This is why I stan this group. They may be in their early-mid 20s but their story is deep af. That’s RM for you (he wrote the lyrics to this track)

Its tradition for BTS to have only one member done the intro of the album. All the members(including V for this time) except jin has done the intro. Jin maybe for another album. The intro is a tease as comeback trailer to give a hint how the upcoming album gonna be. I assume its gonna be dark vibe. Maybe the title song would be like blood sweat and tears. Who knows... BTS and bighit love to troll Army. And they can do all the genres. They are that talented.

Their comeback trailers are usually just one person singing like for their last album the trailer was Jimin singing serendipity by himself. Most likely this album might be like the Wing’s album were they had the small movie like clips probably that’s why he was crying in the end, there’s probably more to it we might see it in the next videos

This actually references the greek mythology Narcissus who was a Hunter but was so beautiful. He disdained everyone & Nemesis convinced Narcissus to look at his own reflections in the lake & he fell in love with his own reflections. He couldn't accept the fact it was not real just a reflection in the end he died.
There are so many theories surrounding the comeback tralier and you guys need to look into them. Loved the reactions ❤

Did you guys forget about their storyline?? This album is going to be darker because there’s a shift in what’s going on in the storyline. Also each album has a comeback trailer and it’s always been done by 1 individual member.
i don't think this is about a girl haha, it's about himself. the video is based on the myth of narcissus! hence his own hand in the jacket, he's caressing himself but it's the illusion of a girl because i think it has to do with the images of celebrities and idols and how they put on a mask and people only love their masked selves, so they start unhealthily molding themselves into that mask and hide their true selves. it's very nicely done

I feel like it’s about V trying to love himself. I think he is showing himself fake love bc he actually doesn’t love himself and wants to make himself think he does. He’s touching himself and I think it’s him trying to love himself . Also I just watched the interview with Liam from j-14 and namjoon said it’s about taking off the mask and loving himself, which leads me to think the mask that V was wearing was bc he’s showing fake love to himself and that’s why he’s crying.

Fun Fact: this was written by Namjoon(RM) in one sitting after getting discharged from the hospital (had an operation due to breathing difficulties). It had no editing done to it and he managed to write a whole song for Tae that not only suits his voice really well but is also the style of music that he really excels at and he also took apart in the production of it. When we say that bts is full of prodigies we mean it
@Anime Fangirl V is one of members RM is the closest with. They were roommates for several years and RM has said that he looks out for V the most. He knows V enough to write a song inspired on him for him to sing.
The lyrics are up to interpretation. But the song is called singularity, he talks about not having a voice, been locked under a frozen lake, but eventually spring will come and the lake will unfreeze and flow.
If we take this as references it can also mean that you act untrue in order to be loved, not necesarily in a romantic way, but in general, and eventually your true self will appear again, that's the sound he keeps hearing and is not letting him sleep, that's the pain in his throat, the real self that wants to express.
Is about anyone of us, faking in order to be liked, to be acknowledge, to be loved. Is about losing our singularity. Is about fake love.

About the MV and song, my theory is that the lyrics and visual representation refers to self-repression, hiding your true essence only to fit others standards/ expectation. Thats way at the end, I think, he puts on the mask with the earing 'loved' which I interpret it like him being afraid to show his true self because he thinks he's already loved by the false construction of himself. He says that he lost his voice, he lost himself, no freedom of expression cuz he denied himself in order to please others and avoid criticism.

When BTS says 'Trailer' it's for the intro song of the albums that are almost all solo songs (i.e. Serendepity, Boy Meets Evil, Nevermind etc). Be prepared for the upcoming album on the 18th, we'll have a new MV and 15 new songs! (+ on the 18th they'll stream a live show to introduce the album, they'll perform at the BBMA's on the 21st and on Ellen on the 25th).
As for the MV itself, for me it proves that this comeback is the dark version of Love Yourself Her.
First, the reference to Ophelia by Millais and Shakespeare’s Hamlet with the flowers and the water theme. She sings before drowning, and we all know that V jumped into the river and probably drowned. Also, in the lyrics, V says he sees his reflection in water and ice which reminds me of the myth of Narcissus. His reflection and love for himself is his demise. Vanity is one of the Seven Sins, and in Stigma V sings ‘Are you calling me a sinner?’. I also see a parallel between Serendipity and Singularity: Jimin talks about love shaking up his world, the overall mood of the song is brighter and optimistic (the colors, the brightness, the theme) and it ends with Jimin smiling, whereas Tae’s probably singing about the love of himself being his end (the sensual dance with his own hand + Narcissus), it is a lot moodier in general (again the color correction, the instrumental, etc) and the MV ends with Tae crying, reminding me of the Fallen Angel statue in Blood Seat and Tears obviously personifying Sin once again and linked to V’s character (although Jimin was the one crying paint).
I also noticed that in both MVs there are weird shots of feet: Jimin crawling back under a blanket and here Tae’s crawling out from the flowers, I don’t know if it has symbolism or if it is done à la Tarantino …
What I like about most kpop artist and especially BTS that how sexy they can be with out being vulger and half neked.
The lyrics was not about sex, The vibe was mature and smooth, V's outfit and makeup was one point, looking handsome as always.We need more of this in america please.

“What does it mean?” Isn’t that the question all ARMY ask after every new video? I think one of the concepts of this video/song is about masking your true self either because you think you won’t be loved otherwise or doing it because the other person asks you to. Both correlate with the Love Yourself Tear theme specially knowing the title track is called Fake Love. This is why there are so many masks around and he ends up putting it on (with the earring that says Loved) and crying a black tear. It’s a painful song. “Have I lost myself or have I gained you?” “Tell me if my voice isn’t real” “tell me if I shouldn’t have thrown myself away”.

K-Pop groups like BTS are different than “American” boy bands or girl groups. It’s normal for them to do solo pieces in their album, members actually encourage each other to perform and produce solo music, doesn’t mean their breaking up (and btw BTS is NEVER breaking up lol) 💜💞💜💞

Regarding the video, BTS comeback trailers are always a full solo song by one of the members. The song will be on the upcoming album. FYI, the choreography was created by Keone Madrid who has done several of their dances. These dancers were hired by him and BTS flew them to Korea for the video.
Lyrical genius Kim Namjoon wrote this song for Tae & he slayed it. Both must be so proud of each other and themselves
missed you guys! it's great how you really take these reviews seriously, you put the subtitles on and try to look for the real message that's being conveyed, but you have fun too and truly enjoy BTS.
as far as the guys going solo, I don't think any of them would need to leave the group to do that. all of them are constantly doing solo projects. the three rappers all have mixtapes as you know (and they plan to do more), and the vocalists just tend to release solo songs for free whenever they feel like it, lol. a lot of them are covers but some of them are original, too. jungkook especially seems to just put out a steady stream of them. sometimes the members even duet with each other :)

The motif of this singularity's music video is Narcissus from Greek mythology. He fell in love with his own reflection in the water, looked at his own image in the water, touched it, and starved to death. And where he died, the daffodils were found. The motif of this is Tea Hyung looking at herself in the water and holding the daffodils and hand in the water. Unlike Narcisos, however, Tea Hyung wants to be seen wearing masks or covering his face with his hands, and in the first scene, she can't love himself. And there are many masks that have hidden themselves before they love themselves. Tea hyung carries daffodils and promises to love himself, but so many masks follow him and don't let him go. And they freeze it to hide the water where they can see who they really are. Tea Hyung is trying to make an earring, but it's a mask of the past, but in the past, it means he loved himself. On the poster for Love Yourself`s, Tea Hyung might have left with the reflection of herself in the water. Also one of my favorite songs by BTS is A Supplementary Story: You Never Walk Alone.
