Yes, she was a bit of a stage mother, however, she loved her children very much, and she never fully accepted their deaths. I truly believe she was haunted for years. She told me she would never move, in case her kids "need to find her". very sad. She loved them & meant well, I think. I found a note Anissa wrote, that said: "tell me you love me paula jones", so... alcohol, drugs: not good for Moms! Myself included! I saw Kathy around there 1 time! We were always around. She wasn't offered the part of the "The Exorcist", although she did try out for it. William Friedkin wanted an unknown, but Anissa Jones only went to audition for the part because of her mother's urging. Anissa was glad she didn't get it the part, because she wanted nothing to do with show business.

      You are so right. Kathy Garver knew nothing about Anissa up until her death. Little to no contact with Anissa period. The audition Anissa failed to show up for was for Martin Scorsese's " Taxi Driver" in 1976 which eventually went to Jody Foster. Had her life not been spiraling out of control at that time, it's a part that might have launched her adult acting career. Yes. She was discouraged about acting. However, just the right acting role, which never came , could have turned things around completely.

So, when Anissa got her 50k at 18, her and her brother got an house and PARTIED! She died within six months and he was dead two years later. Sad. When she turned 18 in March 1976 she rented an apt with her brother Paul as they were very close. Then she & Paul went to a Ford dealership and she bought herself a little Ford Pinto which was cheapest new car there. Then unto Chev dealership where she surprised gifted Paul with a new fully loaded Camaro. That was Anissa always thinking of others before herself. Yes she did drugs but she wasn't lying in the gutter stoned all the time. And all the kids were getting their drugs from the licensed Dr who eventually was convicted. He was the one that prescribed Anissa with 50 Seconal pills.That's what killed her as ppl tend to take more when they're not getting sleepy fast enough. She had Cocaine & other uppers in her system one of her friends suggested snorting 3 Seconal powder in capsules which is what stopped her heart instantly as she had already hadd ingested 2-3 prior. Family Affair fell from the Nielsen ratings in Season 5 like a ton of bricks. Season 1 ranked 14 Season 2 ranked 4 Season 3 ranked 5 Season 4 ranked 5. Season 5 no longer in the Top 10 or Top 30. What happened? The Flip Wilson Show went up against them and defeated them in the ratings soundly. ABC thought about picking up the series when it was cancelled to add to their Family Friday Night line up but it was a very expensive show to make. Although Anissa Jones never grew taller than 4'7" even as a young adult Johnny Whitaker was beginning to shoot up in height . Anissa wanted out of the series anyway but she missed her surrogate father Brian Keith terribly and the positive influence he had in her life. Watch her interview on the Dick Cavett Show in 1971 here on You Tube. You'll see a disturbing and brooding side to her beginning to develop.

      Honestly, Anissa had going for her what most kids watching her only dreamed of , if she didn't like acting the role she could have left , the easily could have replaced her with Pamelyn Ferdin

    i really don't "blame" anyone for what happened with Anissa; It was just something we all did back then: drugs. I just don't appreciate being blamed as Her friend. Mr Green; I got many late nite calls from Paula for years. When she heard Anissa was in Oceanside, she immediatly assumed it was at my mothers' home there, & SHE tried to blame everyone else. She & my Mother had been buddies for years! & I still was always kind to her, always dropped by 'til I moved away.

    Johnny answers a question and Kathy Garver launches into a conversation with herself and all about herself and forgets about Johnny. None of the Women wear pants, all have false eyelashes, all act like ladies with smooth platinum blond hair, no women are eccentric unlike the men in the show. Poor Kathy Garver is stuck with the same hairdo and her false eyelashes covered up half her eyes and plays a goody two shoes. At least the Teenager showed respect towards their parents back then

    The woman lost her kids. Whether she was a mess or not that seems pretty bull shit to be blaming her mom for her demise. I have followed this story for a few years and it bugs me to see people lash out at her. Even if she was horrible; what a hell to have to live with both kids passing and it was or maybe still is a long life without them.

    • @Mark-dq6lr

      +J Russo Finally someone that gets it ! Regardless of problems that Anissa might or might not have had with her mother ,Paula paid fulI messure by losing both kids so young. I have two children also and I can't imagine losing one let alone both. I'm sure Anissa would be hurt by some of the things that have been said. Paula , after all was her MOM and all of us are protective of our own families wheather we have issues with them or not.

      How wrong u are and that other person is an idiot for agreeing Paula was a horrible mother stripped every chance Anissa had to live the life she wanted and didn't even bother giving her own daughter a funeral for christ sake it's always our upbringing that determines how we if Paula wasn't so bitter don't u think Anissa would've turned out fine the answer is an indefinite YES

    • @lindaeasley4336
      @lindaeasley4336 5 лет назад +3

      @@Luispbringstheheat You are exactly right . To have so many pressures put on her at such a young age , of course. she was going to struggle . According to a documentary about Anissa's life , her mom was a drunken controlling bitch . She used Anissa and didn't act like she gave a f*** about her . Life is difficult enough as a teenager but when you've got extra s*** to deal with from your family , unless you are incredibly numb to it , you are going to have emotional problems
