This is an illegal technique in Olympic tkd. You are striking the kicking leg intentionally. No judge will call you on it, however, you are intentionally cheating by focusing on leg on leg contact.

Hey, nice to see you back on the channel!
You’re right, per the book, this is an illegal technique. However, it’s almost as widely used as the cut kick is now. So, I guess we are just waiting for the rule changes to catch up with the game.

@@thetkdlab1060 The game has rules for a reason. I appreciate what you're saying, but when integrity and sportsmanship is set aside for victory, I have concerns.

From my understanding lifting the leg doesn't count as a penalty if it is followed by a fist or kick combination. So these cancels can be used simultaneously with offense.

@@resistingframe4957 per the book, the under cancel is an illegal technique because it uses the leg to impede upon the opponents kick. The axe cancel not so much. What you are referring to is something different entirely.

@@thetkdlab1060 appreciate the reply just confused cause the book says " Lifting the leg or cut kick motion shall not be penalized only when it is followed by
execution of a punching or kicking technique in combination motion". Would that mean that if you under cancel and try to score with the same motion they won't call the penalty?
