I've been trying to find this for years. I got the video at a garage sail and never knew the name. I figured it out today 2024. almost every day for the last 20+ years of my life.... "the grass is greener..."
This movie was my CHILDHOOD! I personally think this video is one of those that shaped who I am as a person and while I am not perfect, I still keep these songs in my heart to this day.
I remember this being on the ABC weekend special in 1992. I was a young adolescent at the time, and loved it. I later found it on VHS at the Christian Bookstore and bought it. When my husband and I were engaged, I made him watch it with me! I have gotten so much use out of this film. I have used it for movie nights at AWANA and children's church, and even showed it to my 5th grade students at a Christian school. Kids love it, and don't even notice it's dated. Even the teenagers at our church like it. One girl in the youth group was more spiritual than the makers of this movie. She wanted to know why Petey and Annie didn't witness to Osborn at the end. Good question. But for teaching the Ten Commandments, it's great.
My parents got this cartoon on VHS for my brother and I for Christmas one year in the early to mid-2000’s. Even though this cartoon was made a couple years before my brother and I were born, I’m glad we still got to enjoy this. Such a great show with an all-star cast! I hope to show this to my kids one day. A wonderful message and a great explanation of the Ten Commandments to kids. I feel that some of the commandments, especially “do not murder” and “do not commit adultery” can be hard to explain to kids but this cartoon does a great job of explaining it “at a kids’ level.” 😊

I’m literally loosing my mind on my couch at 1:24am because I found a clip of this on Instagram and it brought back a flood of memories of my childhood. I searched for this video online and I’ve been sitting here for the past hour so emotional because I can’t believe I remember all of these songs so vividly, and I remember these characters.

This was a great foundation to learn as a child and I watched this all the time. Now as I studied the Bible in great detail and in its original language of Hebrew and Greek #3 and #7 are explained poorly by the song and animation. But the creators heart was in the right place.

Given how the world is nowadays, I would love to have something like this both for children teens included, and adults alike, come back. I'd love to see the kingdom chums brought back continuing from where they left off. This special along with Disneys Halloween Special, Free To Be You And Me, Really Rosie, Tiny Tiny And The Witch Woman, are specials/animated films that I almost forgotten about, stored away in the far edges of my brain. Thank god I have found it on RUclips.
It's called "Original Top Ten" because it's about the Ten Commandments, and technically, *neither* of those two songs qualifies about either of those main commandments... although "Love One Another" does appear to qualify for the idea of "Loving your neighbor as yourself." That I admit.

I usually don’t remember stuff very well and sometimes get distracted. I learned that usually it’s easier to remember things when they’re in song form. This one movie is how I learned and remembered the 10 commandments by heart. The songs are also pretty catchy and I love how they not only tell you the commandants, but they break down the meanings as well. It taught me things I also didn’t realize about the commandments before. Like how don’t commit adultery also means keeping promises. Overall it’s a very good way to teach kids the commandments and explain their meanings in a way everyone can understand.
The animation and art style kinda reminded me of Cap'n O. G. Readmore. One google search later, and I find out that Rick Reinert was involved in the animation of both series of shorts. Cool!

I usually don’t remember stuff very well and sometimes get distracted. I learned that usually it’s easier to remember things when they’re in song form. This one movie is how I learned and remembered the 10 commandments by heart. The songs are also pretty catchy and I love how they not only tell you the commandants, but they break down the meanings as well. It taught me things I also didn’t realize about the commandments before. Like how don’t commit adultery also means keeping promises. Overall it’s a very good way to teach kids the commandments and explain their meanings in a way everyone can understand.
