2024 WMC VETERANS CONCERT EDITION

Welcome to the rebroadcast of first concert of the Willamette Master Chorus' 40th Anniversary year.
2024 also marks our 20th annual Veterans Concert.
In this performance we honor and celebrate the men and women who
serve and have served in the armed forces of the United States of
America. Of special note is the attendance of several WWII veterans
who have made a special effort to attend these concerts. Please
join me in saluting these men who served during one of the most
trying times in our nation's history.
The center piece of our concert is the "Requiem" by Gabriel Faure. This funeral mass is specially offered in memory of those who lost their life during service or have gone before us. However we will first take a musical look at some of the most memorable pieces of music that have been performed in the past nineteen Veterans concerts.
I invite you to pause and remember a veteran in your life that
sacrificed time away from family to preserve and protect the
freedom that we all enjoy. I have asked the chorus and the orchestra
who they are offering this concert in memory. Do you have a person
or persons in mind? It does not have to be a veteran. It could be
a relative or friend. The one thing that unites us this day, is the
privilege to live in the United States of America. Home of the free
and brave. May we hold fast to that truth.
