I always hold the receptacle upside down land the ground and neutral flip land the hot and always use the Shepard hook with pigtailed connections in the j box. Neat and clean every time. Can trim out 70 receptacles a day.
We don't use the tip of the strippers to bend a hook. There's a specific hole in the strippers to accomplish this. I am talking about a real wire strippers we use and not a combination pliers/strippers tool that you have.
**For anyone installing an outlet. Shepards hook method is only REQUIRED for #12 wire. Also you’d wanna strip of more insulation- if insulation is touching the screw could melt and start a fire.
Thank you very much. I don’t do electrical, but I will remember this from now on until the day I.

People do things differently btw
please don't use the back stab connections when replacing or installing a permanent outlet or switch they are only meant for temporary testing
they lock in if you fully tighten the screws after inserting them in the push connections, or at least any levitron I've used in the last decade does.

Love the video
ive almost had a house fire from the push in method swapped it with the hook and havent had an issue
Black on brass will save your ass! And use the hooks and screws. That push crap on the back is almost always junk
It's black on brass will save your ass.
Black guys wear gold, white guys wear silver. Lol
I learned that probably 30 some odd years ago and to this day I say it in my head every time I wire a receptacle 😂
@jorelljones5697 I'll never remember anything else.
Wow 😮
I have the same strippers 😂
Or just remember that the wider bade is always neutral
These are obviously not internationally applicable 😅
